Got the phone call from AmEx this afternoon, so about 28 hours after I filed my claim online. As you guys said, the person from AmEx asked the reason for the return and why they wouldn't accept it. As it was a clothing item, they asked if it was in "like new" condition, if it was defective, and specifically if the tags were still on it. I clarified that it IS like new, and was not defective, and that the tags were already removed (maybe this made a difference? A poster on this thread back in 2012 dealt with a dress from the same company and was asked to ship it to them, but it had the tags still on it). They said ok and the credit should be processed 14 days after the documentation is received. No mention of shipping the product to them. To clarify, this is my first experience using this card benefit too.
