Having a Ta'avah doesn't make you a Rasha, that's a Beinoni
lol now, there's a fun idea for a thread...DDF confessional
Do we need a priest?
Naw, Chaim, the idea was to do it publicly so all could learn.
When I saw the word "confessional" RC came to mind. I am pretty sure they do it in private but I could be wrong.
Yes, but the purpose of the thread was not absolution. It's exhibitionism.
I'd love to see posts by certain people in that thread...it could be one of the 3 steps of the absolution process...admitting!
Well, the taaveh itself is not a chet
It's not a virtue either. To be honest, it's an undesirable middah.!
actually according to the Rambam when It comes to non mitzvos sichly you should have a taaveh for it.
Three steps to absolution (Sacrament of Penance)?
there is one major component of tshuva which is not part of Christian sacrament iinm, and that is kabalah al ha'asid, that one must accept upon himself not to do the sin again. This makes three parts of Jewish repentance since there is no priest involved.
What happens if the same sin is committed again?
Dont want to get too philosophical here but whys that depressing?
What could be more depressing than being a rasha?
I'm still waiting for the verdict from our resident poskim here, as a shulchan aruch abiding Jew, may I go to an AGT show? does it depend on whether I consider it fun? how about TiVo'ing it, youtube?
Of course that could be depressing, I just have a difficult time comprehending how we can all be considered a Rasha when what defines us as a Rasha is impossible (at least in our generation) to avoid.
We may not be Resha'im relative to others (שם המושאל) but in the absolute sense of the word (שם התואר) we are...
