Just called up etihad and they informed me that each business class traveler is entitled to their own driver if they wish, even if they are on the same booking. I was able to reserve two chauffeurs, going to two separate locations.

Cool! Good to know.

Flying AUH-???-CNS hopefully with 2 adults, 2 infants (currently in seats)

Holding AUH-SYD J on a380. Two problems:
1) No F available, and I'm kinda doubtful it will open, and even if it does, probably only 2 will. If that happens I may be able to swing both adults upgrading to F with J seat infants in lap. They may not allow it, but I think there's a good chance in my specific situation they would.
2) Currently I'd probably have to overnight in SYD as flight gets in at 5:55 and there aren't really any domestic flights I can catch on to CNS.

Thinking about other options, including:
AUH-MEL-CNS EY 462 F2 or J4 on 777W
AUH-BNE-CNS EY 484 F2 or J4 on 787-900

Obviously F on the a380 would be best, but may not be an option, so I guess my question is

1) is there a large difference between the J products on these flights?
2) how would EY F on 777/787 compare to J on the a380? I haven't been on the a380 before, which seems very cool, especially the lounge area, and the F product on the 777/787 looks nice, but not sure it's miles above the J product, esp if I may not be able to nab 4 seats and have to deal with a business / first shuffle which there's a chance we may just have to end up in J anyway.

Would very much appreciate advice on figuring this out - thanks!

If you can snag the F seats you need on the 77W than grab those over J on the A380.

Right now onlying showing F2 - don't know how often they release more so it'll be a slight risk at least.
Why so much better?

And any reason 77W over 789?

They are pretty good at releasing F last minute.

No way. 789 > 77w

My point is that F on EY xx is greater then J on the A380. From the reports as well as from family that just flew F on MEL-AUH and said it was fantastic. While I am sure F on the A380 would have been even more "fantastic", it would not have been in J on the A380.

Also does the same go for releasing F on the a380? Problem is the flight will be in May, and after March deval if I still haven't booked up to F I'm afraid they'll probably charge me way more to move J to F

If you book the upgrade post Deval they most likely will charge you the new rates. So book F on the MEL route to CNS on the 77W/789 and then if and when F opens up on the A380 via SYD just call and switch it.

Right. Originally was planning on staying in SYD for a few days and then moving onto CNS, but was having trouble with flights later on, and started rethinking about just heading straight to CNS.

If I change to heading to CNS first it makes things a little more complicated, but then I can lock in pre-deval F. Major downside though is I'll be flying TLV-AMM-AUH-MLE/BNE-CNS which is going to be exhausting - my wife my kill me.

Paid flights MEL/SYD/BNE-CNS are pretty cheap, you should consider that option if no QF flight times work out.

That would be awesome, but a little much. I did MLE a couple years ago, and wouldn't hesitate to go back, but considering I'll be in NZ and headed back to the States, it seems criminal not to at least stop in BOB or NAN.
