RULES OF THE GAME:

1) Game starts at 1am Eastern, 12am Central, 11pm mountain, 10pm pacific... You get the point.
2) Anyone can call a roll call, just make a reply with "Roll Call". The roll call must be readable to the naked eye.
3) No more than one roll call every thirty minutes.
4) You have 30 minutes to respond to the roll call to stay active.
5) To respond to a roll call just post a reply with "Here" or "y y y"
6) If after one hour there are no more "Roll Calls" or "Heres", then the last person to post correctly either by calling a roll call or with a reply of "here" is declared winner of LMS.
7)You must have been awake for at least 12 hours before making or answering a RC.

Ok, @mesh should be back at work tomorrow. As far as I'm concerned the mods can lock and delete this.

If you agree say aye!

I like these discussions and actually read the whole 28 pages from the link to R. Shachter's paper and learned a lot but it's not worth it if it's going to make a Hillul HaShem.

Sorry i misread your first post.

I said that I expected that if there was a real source R Shachter should have mentioned it. Thought you were saying that he does bring it from a source.

Bottom line we agree that as of now all it we have is a vague shmuah. This meets your standards?

Yes, people on this forum have reported/linked to nothing more than vague shmuas. - Have you asked R Yakovs talmidim? If yes feel free to post that!

Im not a judge or anything. Its just that R Moshe actually addresses this "rumor" - that this is the minhag in Lita, and says that it is not true. IMHO it is reasonable to assume that the vague shmuah that I have heard, and which is mentioned in R Shachters publication, is indeed the same one that R Moshe is dismissing as a mistake.  Unless you can please point me to a more reliable source.

Besides that the actually sevorah of this heter is also pretty vague to me and takes some "pretzeling" to explain. - Also just mho.

So to summarize, I dont know whether it is true or not; but for now all I know is that R moshe says that it is unreliable.
"We have a vague shmua", as if you're the judge and jury?
Also, have you asked Rav Yaakov's talmidim? That's how mesorah in psak works. No one is mechuyav to fill you in
As I wrote earlier....
It is around if you look well enough
And it just so happens that I have a mesora on it originating from both R Henkin and R Yaakov. What do I call mesora? That it was given over to me as such.
Feelings don't care about your facts

Because in the actual thread where I actually posted (about birth control) not this one, it got heated, at the time I found it all very amusing and one of the people said something to the effect of all the stuff being posted is why he is off the derech.  I think we assume our back and forth is taken in a certain context and that's sometimes not the case.

When people email asking me to do something, and then email me an hour later asking for the same thing, it makes me want to push off doing it for them.

Yes. But not the same person.

Sometimes people don't realize that you have more responsibilites than just taking care of exactly what they need, the minute they ask for it.
