I figured it would be an easier read if divided into categories.
I'll post this here I already wrote it and you did an excellent job on the wiki already.
Target Prepaid REDcardWhat is the Target Prepaid REDcard? The Target Prepaid Redcard is a prepaid product from Target and American Express. Read
Dan's posts about it. It should not be confused with similar products, like
Amex for Target, Target Credit REDcard, or Target Debit REDcard. Getting a Target Prepaid REDcardHow do I get a Target Prepaid REDcard?Check
here to see if you are near a Target that sells Prepaid REDcards. You can also buy cards on eBay or
in this thread.
If you buy a Prepaid REDcard in-store, you will need to activate it. You will have to provide your drivers license, birthdate, phone number, and any 9-digit number for the SSN. Each number that you use as an SSN may only be used once per day. You may load up to $500 at this time.
If you buy a Prepaid REDcard online, it may come pre-activated. If it is not pre-activated, you will need to activate it at a participating store. There are many confirmed reports of failed activations when attempting to activate at a nonparticipating store.
What do I do once I have an activated Target Prepaid REDcard?Once your card is activated, you can register it online
here. When activating, enter the card number and security code but leave the date of birth blank. Enter the rest of the information correctly.
You will receive an email notifying you that your card is active. You may load an additional $1000 onto the card at this point. Your permanent card will be mailed to you.
In some cases you will receive a notice that more information is needed to verify your identity. You may call 800-555-4318 to verify your identity. You will need to upload identification for the SSN associated with the account. Note that each SSN may be associated with only one REDcard. You may not register a REDcard if ou have an open Bluebird or Serve account.
What can I do once the permanent REDcard arrives?Follow the activation instructions that came with the card. You now have a fully activated REDcard. Continue to manage the REDcard
here.
Using the Target Prepaid REDcardHow do I load funds? You may load funds in-store using a credit card, debit card, gift card, or cash, but not using a Target gift card. If you load with a credit card, be prepared to handle fraud alerts. You may only load online using a bank-issued debit card.
Will I be charged cash advance fees for loading with a credit card? No.
How much can I load? You may load $2500 per day and up to $5000 per calendar month, not including the amount loaded to activate the card when it was first purchased. You may not load more than $1000 per transaction.
What do I do if the store won't let me load? Some stores have implemented policies prohibiting credit card loads, multiple loads per day, use of gift cards, and other policies. Don't argue with the store. Simply go to another Target to load.
How do I get funds out?You may withdraw funds from the REDcard using billpay, withdrawal to bank account, and ATM withdrawal. There are no reports of negative effects from paying the credit card used to load REDcard with REDcard. If you have trouble accessing billpay, first try updating the phone number that you have saved in your account. If that doesn't work, call customer service and change your email address to one that has never been associated with any Amex prepaid product.
ATM withdrawal is limited to $750 per day and $2000 per month. ATM withdrawals are free at Target and at Allpoint ATMs. Bank account withdrawals are limited to $2000 per month and can be found under Settings -> Withdraw Funds.
