HELP! Last minute emergency - need registration on vehicle, or rental

I'm in a major pickle now, any advice is welcome.

I'm scheduled to drive long distance early tomorrow morning for Pesach. Right before Shabbos I realized that my NJ registration on my van expired 2 years ago - too long ago to renew online. Next appointment is Monday morning - too close to Yom Tov to make the trip.

I need 8 seats, so a standard rental won't work. Was thinking about doing a one-way rental from an airport but that is a huge hassle and a huge expense. Any ideas?

If the 8 seater is primarily needed for the way from/back to Lakewood but you can manage at your destination without a car, or with family car, or with a standard rental, perhaps it pays to buy National free days so you can reserve an 8 seater for 2 - 1 way rentals.

Do you have a way to get a temp plate? If you are good buddies with a dealer in Lakewood they might give you one. I have seen ppl in monsey advertising temps for $200. Or maybe a dealer willing to give a dealer plate

The car is registered under that temp plate, just like your car is registered under your license plate.
The other important question is whether or not the car is insured (sorry, i wrote registered earlier, but i meant to ask if the car is still under insurance)

NJ is terrible about that.

I have access to a dealer plate. The issue is that officially it's meant for transporting vehicles for business purposes. If a cop sees 8 kids in the back it'll be kind of a dead giveaway...

A thru Z in BP does all 50 states registration, just not sure if he is open sundays. Might be worth a try, never actually used him before, but seen his ads around.
