I have been staying off the web recently due to the sensitive nature of the efforts I am involved in, but felt I needed to pipe in here.
First; Chabad for the most part plays nicely with other communities even if there were uncomfortable situations in the past. Given the current circumstances, nearly all communities and organizations are working together as much as possible regardless of affiliation.
Recently on a quick mission in Odessa - I witnessed a beautiful little episode that made me smile; Chabad Odessa was given permission to take all kosher products from the other shul (tikvah, litvish, kruskal, baksht etc). When I helped the chevra bring the meat into the Chabad kosher shop, I noticed that suddenly everyone was jolly, smiling, laughing - joking about how they finally managed to raid the 'snags stash... It was just so heartwarming to see both communities working together to protect & save lives, alleviate hunger and help refugees.
Second; please keep in mind that many organizations and grassroots movements have huge expenses that can't be disclosed at this point. By all means, research & vet fundraisers before giving if you feel you have to, But try not to bad-mouth or belittle anyone without knowing the full picture.
Third, I may be nogeiah bedavar - but Chabad Odessa is desperate for funds - please give if you can
