I haven't heard of it and would now not consider getting it for my kids. Why would I bdavka go against the roshei yeshiva?

If your kids were consuming entertainment that was even a bit less kosher and/or using a less appropriate device, would you not consider it better for your home? Would the RY approve of the less appropriate entertainment options?

S/He is 6 going on 16. Eventually he is likely to find out about it. Possibly a lot sooner than you expect when s/he tells or shows a friend about it who asks a parent that answers they won't go against the roshei yeshiva and the friend reports back to your child.

Are you discussing the service or the device?

I just heard about this today and don't fully understand what it includes. It sounds like I would only care about the service, they can watch it on any device.

For anyone that doesn’t have texting and isn’t challenged with using 100% kosher entertainment this isn’t for them anyways. For the rest, this is a decent option.

Is there not a distinction between political endorsements and rabonim making the public aware of something that can potentially be harmful to our children?

Just looked at the website and the letter again. Seems like the main issue is the device which they’re unsure of the risks. But even the content they have an issue with as well. Though after reading how it works, the app starts off with arguabky kosher content, and then lets you filter out exactly what you don’t want your kids to see. If we don’t trust parents to choose appropriate content, then banning this app makes no difference to the world.

And if the app is trief because of the content, what does that say about the artists? We should ban them as well. And ban any of the artists that don’t disassociate themselves from this treif endeavor. And finally ban anyone that dare question the effectiveness of this ban.

I received a technology related email from my son's school last night and among other things, they clarified that the issue that they and 40 plus mosdos signed against was specifically the device. They wrote that the app is certainly a step up for those that may currently be giving their children access to Spotify or the like.

Of particular concern is the fact that use of this device brings with it exposure to music and videos with content that often runs contrary to the values and with which we bring up our children.
