Why do you keep mentioning this "rabbi". It has nothing to do with anything. People joined for a get rich quick scheme, not because of daas torah!
You are correct that this “deal” did not originate with this “rabbi”, he only joined a little later on, but he has become a major reason this scam continues to have legs, he recruits and alleviates the fears of current investors.
I feel that there will always be stupid balei batim, simple laymen, who are willing to con and be conned. However, I take tremendous umbrage when a so called “rabbi” gets involved. Now you have someone who’s supposed to protect doing the complete opposite, by peddling his position as affirmation to this investment’s authenticity. He should know better, he DOES know better, but it’s other’s people’s money he’s willing to play with. He sullied the hallowed position of “rabbi”, a title that is supposed to mean something, that is why I highlight his involvement.
Unfortunately a relative of mine is invested (I only found out after the fact), and as this still is ongoing, I am afraid of jeopardizing things. I know this is a flimsy excuse, and I wish I had the courage to plaster his name all over, but I am afraid to rock the boat.
