I know I may sound crazy, or sound like I have too much time on my hands.
I love the desitin cream, consistency is great, and works well on the baby, but price is very steep for a small 4oz tube at 6-8$ I have tried target brand that has talc for $2 and walmart for the same $2. Both are OK. But they make a real mess. I hate it for that reason. After changing the babys diaper I'm left with white cream all over the place. It's super liquidy. Thought about sticking in the freezer then I feel bad for my baby.
So solution was to order via instacrt from target a few 16oz desitin tubs, cheaper than buying in-store or even other stores as target price matches to other stores.
Now I've been using that Bumco rubber spatula which works great, but a mess to use when traveling and or just not in the mood of the dealing with a jar and having to waste time. So I would rather squeeze the tube and have the diaper changed in 45 seconds.
So I tried a few different ways to refill the tube before I went to this last resort. Originally tried to refill my tube with a wilton piping bag and filled it with desitin cream from the tub. Worked ok but lots of air pockets in the tube after piping the cream into the tube. And aside for that Iost some cream that was lined in the piping bag. So that was not that most economical way of refilling my tube.
So to my final option of cutting the tip off the old desitin tube and refilling them. Yes I use desitin for each diaper change. I'm very generous when it comes to changing my child diaper. Thanks to target and all the free diapers they supplied. Now here's a picture of what I have done and now need a way to close the tube back up? Take a knife that I put into the fire which is now red hot and cut it on the bottom which will melt the tube? Crimp it somehow? Do they make a tube which I can fill and seal on my own? Curios what options are out there or what you guys can suggest?
