10YO: "Mommy, a baby is not like bread. You don't have to put him down instead of passing him!"
DW: "Maybe he'll be happy on the couch and Totty won't have to take him..." Touche!

8 y.o. son: A lot of kids in my class have electric pop its.  Can I get one?
Me: Sure!  You can either earn one (with a contest/chores etc.) or pay for it with your money.
He chooses to pay for it because he wants it ASAP.
Mom: Which one do you want?
Son: I want to buy the one I can afford.

Makes sense if his parent is thrifty

(Can someone please improve this post. I couldn't think of anything else)

I personally don't like those machines. You hear the popcorn popping but you don't get to eat it after.

Those are just plain annoying. But the electric pop it machine really sounds like a real popcorn machine. (Try it!)

Someone gave my kids one of those. I let them use it for a bit, and then chucked it while they were sleeping one night. They never remembered that it existed, and life is quieter.

Or things that take up a lot of space if the recipient lives in a small place.

My mother spent most of my childhood and part of my adult life ranting about her parents giving us noisy toys. As soon as she had grandkids, virtually every gift she's given is noisy. When called out, she smiles and says, "But now I'm a Bubby." Go ahead and argue...

Maybe it's her way of creating the right environment for her bracha that one day I should have to deal with kids like me. Gotta make that keli...

7YO asks what the rosemary chocolate filled cookies are, and 12YO explains, "You know that bar of chocolate that you like the blue and I like the red? That filling that's in the chocolate is inside this cookie."
Me, "Except this chocolate is much richer."
7YO, "Yeah? Then I want to see its house!"

My daughter says she hates being the youngest because she has to wait a whole year for her birthday

DW: What's going happen when we go to the doctor?
3 yo: The doctor is going to check my feelings.
