Background: I'm trying to open two specific credit cards, let's call them Cards A and B, from Chase. I applied for them both together (MBM), and both were denied because I have no credit. After a call with the Chase Reconsideration Department, I was able to get Card A approved, but I was told that I would need to apply for Card B at a later time once my credit score increased.
Question: Now that I have Card A, would help or hurt me if it help if I opened another credit card from a different bank? I am Citi Gold, so I imagine that my banker can get me approved for a basic Citi card, let's call it Card C. On the one hand, having a Card C in addition to Card A would allow me to build a stronger credit history. On the other hand, when it comes time to open Card B with Chase, they might see that I've now opened 2 cards in the past couple of months, and it might seem like I'm desperate for credit.
