Now this one seems closer to reality, still expensive.

$1000 gets you a well-built thin and light, also Evo Edition. Weirdly the manufacturer claims 12.5H battery life when Evo Ed. requires almost that in wifi surfing. Also weirdly, it has "Arc integrated graphics" which I never heard of.

It's new for the meteor lake generation based on the discrete graphics cards recently released. Reviews are not out yet, but this is the first chiplet release for Intel. Seems like IPC is not improved, but the overall package may be.

Seems confirmed that all 2024 processors released by AMD will start with an 8. If you want to know which tech: 8x40 is Zen 4 (just like last year's 7x40), 8x45 is Zen 4+ (just like last year's 7x45), and 8x50 is the brand-new Zen 5.
As I have noted a number of times, the most important number in AMD processors (starting with a 7 and on) is now the 3rd number, which tells you how old the tech in the processor is. Some processors, such as the Ryzen 3 7320 and the Ryzen 5 7520U, are Zen 2 processors based on tech from 2020.
See here for details on current processors on the market:

@DaasTora
Some interesting comments in this review.

Among other things:
Quote
his Core 7 150U processor is a minimally refined and mostly rebadged Core i7-1355U. So it’s not a Meteor Lake Core Ultra processor, thus it doesn’t get Low Power Efficiency Cores or Arc graphics.

Hence, the Intel Core i7 150U is a hybrid design with 2 Performance Cores, 8 Efficiency Cores, and a total of 12 combined Threads. It does run at fairly high power levels here, at 30-40W sustained, but the sustained performance is still limited by the overall design in comparison to other Intel and AMD platforms available out there today.

Quote
The higher power settings on Best Performance allow for a gain in sustained CPU performance over existing Core i7-1355U implementations, both in single and in multi-core tests. But on the GPU side, little sets this apart from existing Core U models of the last years.

Furthermore, these days competing products are built on more capable Intel Core H or Core Ultra H platform, as well as AMD Ryzen 7000 and 8000 platforms, all more capable across the board, and especially on the GPU side.

As it is, this IdeaPad Slim 5 is a fair performer for daily use and multitasking, but not something I’d get for occasional workloads or for games. There’s just better hardware out there for that, and even in more affordable devices.
