To be perfectly clear- its $25 for unlimited everything
except for data (that only comes with 1GB at the base price). Times are changing, unlimited data is starting to become difficult for carriers to support. It used to be the opposite- carriers would throw unlimited data around and capped minutes (for example, the SERO plan), but these days people hardly use their phones to talk, but regularly use them as a data pipe. The trend is now to throw around limited data with unlimited everything else.
So yes, unlimited data plans (what few there are left) are generally more expensive than this and this is a good deal IMO.
That being said, it turns out 1GB of data is enough for me. I figured I'd pay $10 more for the 3GB option, but it turns out I'm in WiFi most of the time anyway so my usage for the last few months has been well under a gig. If I'm traveling and need to use my phone as a modem, I'll probably opt into the $20 add on for the month. Otherwise, I'm good with the $25 base- and this is someone who regularly streams music in the car and thought was a heavy data user. Apparently I'm a lightweight.
