It’s so annoying. People go to the hospital for routine procedures and get freaked out by this thinking the hospital is asking because they expect them to die or something…

It's so annoying because if you checked that box in error you're in big trouble.

They can/should mandate that you must have a tracking device, but you don’t have to activate it unless you want to. Think of it as a life vest. You don’t always gotta wear it, but you have it when you need it.

As far as privacy concerns, they’re already tracking you via radar & your phone when necessary, so what’s the difference.

But it's a forest, bad weather, in the dark, was basically as a physical challenge to pinpoint, + till you get ample rescue crew to set-up and start a search

While this was a very sad story that effected us, to me the story from JFK last week is WAY more scary

In terms of finding the planes, that seems covered. In terms of offering a faster rescue response, there’s still plenty of room to improve, and can utilize cheap solutions.

It seems someone just having a cell phone will cover it. No need to mandate anything.

Yet still took 4+ hours to pinpoint which I don’t if it’s long, but GPS would be faster in most situations. Cell phones triangulation is not as accurate and they don’t have great service everywhere.

1) It doesn’t necessarily give you exact location (it can get destroyed during an accident or explosion)
2) Getting federal law enforcement involved takes time.
