Do you get AA benefits like upgrades when booking with Qatar Avios?
Is anyone having issues booking an award ticket on AA? Trying to book a ticket to Mia, comes up that it's available but when I wanna book it shows that no flights are available, tried a few dates

Apparently only for Platinum Pro/Executive Platinum. Even that rule is buried in the T&Cs.AA really likes punishing its elites. United is much more generous.
did you try in the airport? They might not really pay attention to that rule, especially if you are in a priority lane
I'm not interested in obtaining status for the off chance that they may not make me crazy if it's 53 pounds. For that, I can spend my money elsewhere.
Well you didnt specify that you were speculatively eyeing obtaining status for a theoretical 53 pound bag… yeah obviously you wouldn’t do that. But i dont think any airline really gives a hard time with luggage policies to elites (in terms of overweight at least)

I’ve done most of my flying from JFK. I havent flown out of PHL yet, though they seem to have pretty decent routing from there, even better than jfk.
If I book an AA flight using Alaska Air miles and use my AA credit card for the taxes/fees, will I get a free bag like usual? Or does booking through Alaska remove that perk?
