Title: CHASE closed ALL accounts!!!!!!!
Post by: mutchkie1 on May 30, 2019, 03:29:56 PM
I just wanted you to be aware of something crazy. I have 5 Chase accounts (Presidential Plus, Marriott, Saphire, IHG and BA). Today I went to the gas station to fill up my car and my card was declined. I tried another card and it was declined again. I went home and called Chase to find out why. It turns out they closed all my accounts yesterday. I asked them why? I am a lawyer/cpa with a credit rating of approximately 835. It made no sense. The representative said because on review Chase felt that the current monthly charges were much higher than usual and when they close one account, they close all. On my Saphire account ending 3743, I have a $25,000 credit limit. I wanted to buy gold coins, 3 transaction each for $13,000, a total of $39,000. Since I have a $25,000 credit limit, I knew it wouldn't work. So, I previously mailed Chase a check of $50,000. After the check had cleared my bank, I now had a $50,000 credit on my Chase account. When I made the first $13,000 transaction, I received a fraud alert to which I replied that it was me making the purchase. At the end of the day, I bought $39,000 of gold leaving a credit balance of $11,000. The following week or two, I charged an additional $3,000. Total, I have a credit balance of nearly $8,000. Chase owes ME money. I don't owe them. I have a credit balances on 3 of the other 4 accounts. My Presidential Plus card has a balance of $44 but its not due as my last stmt had a zero balance. Supervisor is supposed to call me but I am very very upset. This will kill my credit rating and I will have to change c/c for my phone, etc.

Any suggestions?

I feel bad for you because you really tried to do everything right here but because of the large amount of activity from swiping schemes and fraud issues with buying groups, this does seem to be common and from others' posts Chase won't reopen the accounts.  Those gold purchases most definitely seem like the culprit, even if they weren't actually for a buying group.

Basically, for most people the high credit limits are a bluff, I learned this long ago, like with Amex charge cards , many years ago I purchased over $100000 in gold coins, I called and got approval for the purchases , a month later they started declining any high charges although the balance was paid in full. Had a similar problem with Citi too.

You think itís the credit limit usage, not the gold? Even if someoneís not doing buying groups, itís so easy to use for money laundering, etc. they have to have flags in their system for those kind of merchants/sales.

Instead of prepaying, had he called Chase in advance and asked for a temporary credit line increase and told them to expect these purchases, Would he have been safe(r)?

If they are worried about money laundering then just don't allow gold purchases on c/c. I bought strictly as investment as I have over the last 5 years!

Perhaps they don't want you to use their credit card for investments either.

Also, prepaying is a red flag.

Spoke to supervisor - what I was able to gather is the purchase of gold coins or bars using a credit card is deemed to be an unauthorized transaction and, therefore, justifies card closing. Her words were basically "we do not authorize the use of our credit card for making investments". She repeatedly asked why I used a credit card than paying by check. I asked her why do I pay my a/c guy by credit card rather than check. Convenience and points. At the end of the year, I receive an expense report showing all my transactions by category. I also told her with gold purchase from Apmex, I would have to either wire them or have them receive a check within 3-5 days of purchase. Then they would have to deposit check and even though it clears my bank in a day, they would wait 5 days. Then after the 5 days they would sort the order and the following day ship the order. I save at least 7 business days using a credit card!

They have become positively nuts! I am trying to diversify my CC accounts as now I am too heavily "invested" with Chase. I don't want to think what would happen to my credit if G-D forbid all my accounts were closed because s/o had a bad hair day  :-\

Talking of this, what are savvy DDFers doing about the Binding Arbitration that Chase is putting in its new T&C? Are people opting out?

What did you get shut down for?
A whole list.
Suspicious purchasing activities that resembled a scam where you buy items for a person who pays you back for them (no jokes!)
Revolving credit.
And then more that they could literally place on anyone.

For the first one i said it was my own business I buy items for.
For second one I explained to them what actually happened. Which was that a certain company instead of removing a charge for something they cancelled went and pushed the charge thru and then gave a "refund". Making my credit balance go up and down 18 times.

I plan on opting out.
There is a reason they are choosing arbitration over courts! They know, in arbitration they have a lot less to lose and you'll have no leverage just in case anything happens.

I'm just wondering what they will be doing to those opting out? Shut down? I wonder.

I think your dead wrong.

I'm open to listen. Why is arbitration the better option? Have you done any research or just being pro chase again.

I have read some cases where arbitration wasn't favorable to the consumer and know of cases where courts were favorable. Now, the story definitely makes a difference but there is a reason lawyers dont want to go to arbitration!!!

10 people from DDF opt out. 3 months later all 10 shut down. They post here...

My main point is, itís highly doubtful that itís a risk chase is willing to take. Then again they have done stupid things before so who knows...

The theory is not that everyone will get shutdown, just much higher risk of getting AA'd and when/if they do, they'll give you the reasons they give at all AA's.

Even if it's a very small chance that they do this, it is even less likely that I'll have to go to court - just thinking out loud.

exactly. You have very few rights when it comes to CC's, just accept it.

Worked for me twice with chase.

To reopen closed Chase accounts?
No way.

I was skeptical about it but gave it a chance. I filed a complaint last week and they called me today from chase (888 214-7712 ext. 654-8003) to review it. I'll keep you posted.

Before you call chase back check to see if your account has been reopened. If it has, do not call back chase. And that extension you posted might be specific for your case (and you shouldn't share it).

It seems like we're not on the same page here. What I'm saying is; if you are able to sue, than when you go into arbitration and they don't appease you, they know you may sue. If Chase bank knows you may sue they will try harder to appease you in arbitration.

I am still waiting to hear why you would have the upper hand if you sue.

That's an easy one: 1) publicity, and the leveraging of the bad kind; 2) timing, the longer they have to deal with you, the more they can't focus on making money or dealing with more pressing issues, 3) appealability, 4) cost (in some contexts), etc.

Why do you think one would NOT have the upper hand?

Not sure what you mean by "cost," but commencing the former will in nearly every instance cost less than the latter, barring some provision in the arb agreement that allocates the entire cost to one party.

Let me approach this in the manner of which you seem to be so fond, i.e., asking question after question, but with intent to make a statement:

What is the cost to commence a small claims suit? a federal court suit? a suit in NY Supreme? How much money do you think you're saving here?

I was under the impression that filing suit (state/federal) would cost way more than arbitration. I am trying to find Chases arb agreement. If someone has a link please post.

You disputed the reasons I gave about upper hand. I thought it would be good to tackle them one by one.

I guess if you assume the Chase arb agreement allocates $0 of the cost to the card holder AND you consider $20 (small claims up to $5K), $210 (NY Supreme, unlimited), $400 (federal, unlimited), then it does cost "way more."  I personally would not agree with that characterization, especially given the benefits to suing in court.

On this topic, I need not deflect; I am happy to answer any question you have.  (But, ftr, I think a poll asking which of us has been deflecting here would land resoundingly on someone other than me.)

The fact that you seem to have uniquely found some attorney who will charge you "big bucks" for a federal lawsuit, but charge you nothing (i.e. contingency) for an arbitration which -- contrary to your earlier assertions -- does in fact include discovery and the possibility of counterclaims, does not -- again, contrary to your earlier assertions -- mean that arbitration has a "leg up" on suing in court, for most people.  In fact it doesn't even mean that for you, but if you're entire argument in favor of arbitration these last several pages comes down down to the fact that you've found some guy who will take your Chase arbitration claim on contingency, well, I think that speaks for itself.  Let's just not hide behind answering questions with other questions and words like "discovery," "counter-suit," and "binding."

TLDR; CV thinks arbitration is better because he has a guy who will take his case on contingency.

Oh, and to answer your (relevant? irrelevant?) question, I've been involved in dozens of arbitrations with "CC companies."

Personally I had chase mess up my chargebacks and my appeals were met with circular nonsense. It was $350 so I ate the losses but what if it was $10k?

For small claims it's easy to file, one can get the fee waived at times if they can't afford and I have self represented in both small claims and circut court (not CC related)

Small filling fee and self represented vs cc company sending lawyer $$.

If they lose, they set a precedent so they settle usually before court.

Arbitration can run huge $$ depends who pays arbitrator. Regardless of who is representing you.

1) Please, for the benefit of the forum, spell out the conclusion I've apparently missed.  Why is arbitration better? And, do us all a solid: don't answer with a question, and second, in providing a fulsome answer, why don't you address each of these (https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=104085.msg2102742#msg2102742). I look forward to learning, as I imagine many here do.

2) I do not make a habit of suing the people who pay me $575 an hour.  So, I'm 0/0.  That said, unless you can spell out the relevance of winning (vs. experience), I'm not quite sure what that has to do with anything.  And while you're at it, you can also spell out your stats v. CC companies, so we all can get a sense of the experience with which you're making these comments.

1) Ask your legal advisor; and/or
2) Read your settlement agreement.

Though, the likelihood that an NDA (or more accurately,  that the party you gave the NDA to) would prohibit you from disclosing, in the abstract, your "stats" is nigh impossible.

In court there are multiple avenues including sympathetic judges who dont like corporate America that can avoid a bankruptcy.

I have read stories where people have been successful using the arbitration route in cases of account closures or points forfeiture, but for debt? How would they find you in the right?

We all need to play by the rules. If I am engaging in risky behavior and you want to shut me down then just state the behavior that I am engaged in. Not some non-compliant canned response.

Chase had every right to close the OP CC's. The OP has every right to know the reason why.

I have been banking with chase for quite a few years now. I have a pc account and never did anything suspicious on my account. Just saw this morning that all my ccís are closed, and after calling my banker, she told me there is a note on my accounts that they will be closed. I have no idea what could have triggered this as I use my ccís and bank accounts in a normal legit manner. I never missed a payment, wasnít involved in any funny transactions/ loans. Any clue what this can be? Any advice on how I can get this reinstated?

I hope you will find away to get them to open your accounts. I was banking with chase for around 25 years and nothing helped, they do not give a reason, they just shut you down without a warning. I tried using my CC and it did not work, that is how I found out I was shut down.

Came this across (reasons Chase closes accounts)

Quote
Financial Risk: Credit piggybacking
Another thing that may cause a shutdown is if you do credit piggybacking. This is when you add people to your credit cards as an authorized user when they don't have a purpose of being there. The person typically isn't a family member or in the same household.

The main thing Chase is concerned about is you're selling your credit cards as a service to help them improve their credit.

If you do want to help your significant other out, I think that's reasonable. Just be sure the mailing address is the same household....
Selling your Ultimate Reward Points
Selling your UR points can trigger a shutdown. If you do want to transfer your points to family members, ideally they live in the same household and have the same last name...

I switched to TD Bank. This is not a pleasant experience. It took me a few days and I got over it and moved on. By the way we were a Private client at chase and the banker could not help.

1. I don't get it, everybody is worried about chase arbitration. Chase is late when it comes to this game. Amex and other banks already have arbitration in the agreement, doesn't sound like people are worried about those banks
2. If you have debt and aren't paying than they have to go to court not arbitration to get a judgment against you
3. Arbitration is mainly so you can't join a class action against them and sue for alot of money

It's not that people are worried about chase vs other banks. Chase recently made this change and gave an opt out, so people are discussing it only because it's an option here.

Update: the reason that may have triggered my shutdown according to a banker that has lots of knowledge in his area is that I paid my credit card from my business account. I was using a personal cc legitimately for my business because I didnít want to open a new business cc and get a hard pull.

I think @Dan (after prime day) should do a main post on the DDMS with all the possible reasons chase can shut you down, so we know what to avoid.

Why can't you pay your personal account from your business checking account? There is nothing at all illegal with it even for tax purposes! Your accountant would and should treat the credit card payment as if there was a distribution to you! None of the credit card expenses would be deducted on your business tax return!

Per Dan - Reason for Closing Account

Using your credit line multiple times in a month
Banks donít love it when you pay off your bill several times in middle of a month just in order to be able to spend beyond what your monthly credit line is.

You would think they would love that as they are making 2-3% on every purchase that you make!

Chase doesn't care. Try paying your CC in cash at a branch.

They don't want the exposure. If they did instead of giving a 20K CL they would have gave 100k.

I've been paying personal cards from a non Chase business account for years so I would have to say I'm skeptical too. As mentioned up thread my accountant treats it as a draw and it doesn't go in as a business expense. I discussed it at length with him prior to actually doing this.

So I think you need to dig for another reason.

Re: They owed YOU money?! Now we know what the issue was.

That's because I overpay on each payment. I don't like owing anyone anything. So if I charge $4,300 I will transfer $5,000 as payment. I previously had transferred $50,000 thinking I would buy $50,000 of gold but then changed mind and only bought $39,000!

To summarize, no prepaying/overpaying (which is sort of like cycling).
No cycling the credit line.
No paying off CC in cash
No paying with a third party check.
Also no money orders?
IOW, just pay from a bank account.

Any other way?  I don't want to mix banks and it seems best (from posts here) not to have a Chase account.

You could do whatever you want I am just repeating what I was told by someone I trust in Chase. Donít understand why you are feeling intimidated by my msg!

In the end of the day chase implemented some crazy new algorithms which is causing lots of shutdowns and not all of them can be explained. After hearing this from a  branch manager who has dealt with multiple shutdowns one on one and has been in the system for years I felt its my duty to share this info with others. I personally would stay away from doing this only because nobody knows what can trigger a shutdown.

Discussion finished for now will not bring it up again. Will keep you guys posted for any updates I get.

File with the CFPB.
Dosent help, they basically reach out to Chase Executive Office on your behalf and you get nowhere. Chase shall be boycott for the way they deal with customers and do business.
CDBP forwarded the Response from Chase Executive Office something like "We closed your deposit account ending in 2221 in accordance with the terms of our agreement The Deposit Account Agreement allows us to close an account other than a CD at any time, for any reason or no reason, without giving a reason, and without prior notice.....We closed the credit card account because our affiliate is ending their banking relationship with you. The decision to end our banking relationship with you is final."
As a matter of fact, I never did anything that has been discussed in the threads not to do...

Hello,

Does anyone know what is going on? I just went online and I see that chase has closed 5/6 of my accounts.

There was no funny business going on at all. Some of them had small balances and one had a large balance that was turning around every month.

Everything was current and paid with no issues. I had one small issue where one of the cards automatic payment didnt go through twice in a row but made sure to take care of it promptly.

Any idea what in the world is going on? Has anyone been in this situation before and can the accounts be re-opened somehow?

What do I do with all my points? I have about 400k points which I currently have access to right now but not sure what to do and if they will disappear.

So Nervous.

Thanks

Please post in the appropriate thread, where you will also find a large amount of information that you can read to see if you actually did something wrong (Hint: the last guy who said he did nothing wrong made three huge mistakes).

Points will disappear 30 days from when your account got shut down. Transfer them if you can't used them by then.

Thanks Dan. Maybe thats what it is, but why would do they do something so severe? Its not like it was a chronic problem. It was only twice in however many years I had the account. And why close all but 1 account if only 1 account had the issue?

Anything I can do right now? Is anyone ever successful in getting them to undo this?

Thanks Dan. Maybe thats what it is, but why would do they do something so severe? Its not like it was a chronic problem. It was only twice in however many years I had the account. And why close all but 1 account if only 1 account had the issue?

Anything I can do right now? Is anyone ever successful in getting them to undo this?
Even once is a no-no. Not surprised at all that it was shut down after it happened twice.

I say this is #fakenews
Agreed, although I don't do this now I've done it many times in the last with no issues.

Buisness account was not chase.

The likely trigger. And it's bad news, in afraid.

How bad? Is there no shot of getting the to re-open those accounts?

I've been with them for over a decade and have had minimal issues in 10+ years and never missed any payment ever. Might have gotta a couple in after the due date but never ever had a payment be later than lets say 2-3 days.

sorry i wasn't clear what i meant is that i can see that it does make sense to suspect that  if someone paid a chase personal credit card from a non chase business account it wouldn't cause a problem but if he paid from a chase business account it would.

I had a long conversation with a branch manager on Friday, he clarified that chaseís compliance dept team is growing by the day. They were hit with some major lawsuits including the Bernie madeoff case and it cost them billions of dollars in legal fees. They are strongly enforcing anti-money-laundering activity.

The compliance department does not share with the bankers the reason for shutting down accounts. This is all their own research that they are conducting in-house to try to connect the dots and figure  out the triggers.

One of the triggers they figured out after researching multiple shutdowns is paying a Chase personal credit card from a Chase business account which the compliance department considers commingling funds.  Itís the same thing that Chase does not allow for a business check to be deposited into a personal account. Chase wants personal and business to be separated totally to prevent money laundering.

You can have your banker send an email to the compliance dept to reconsider.

I've had Chase reject an auto-payment from a business account from another bank (it was for the BA card) so don't assume that paying from another bank won't trigger anything.  I run an actual high spending business and pick certain cards to put business only expenses on because I want to meet minimums or maximize points earnings.  I then just paid in branch with a business check and that was fine.  It was annoying to not have it on auto-pay but worth it for this particular card.  Amex doesn't have this issue as I use the Hilton Aspire card the same way, for business only, as we spend a lot at Hiltons, and Amex accepts the auto-pays just fine.

Did the business account name match the business name on the card?

There was no business name on the card.  These specific cards are personal cards.  If you want to the Chase BA bonus, or the 14ppd at Hiltons offered by the Aspire card, as I understand it, it has to be on a personal card.

A quick update on my situation...

After days of getting the run around with them on the phone, I finally went into a branch locally and was able to get the banker there to help me. After a few phone calls he was able to tell me that the compliance department shut down my accounts because of 2 things. One of them was that stupid missed auto pay which in and of itself wouldn't have been a problem seeing as the account was in excellent standing. The other thing was that I made a domestic wire earlier last month from chase into an account that I own at another bank.

Apparently for some reason, the combination of both events set off a "Red Flag" and they decided after review that I am a "Risk." I am not sure exactly how I am a risk, seeing as that my accounts were perfect, never missed payments, etc. and that the wire was going into another legitimate account at a legitimate bank that was owned by me. The banker asked me to provide proof of the details and transaction on that account which I did and which he sent to the compliance department but their answer came back as "at this time even after reviewing that we will not be re-opening the accounts."

Anyway, this is absolutely terrible. It is going to negatively impact my score tremendously. My question is where do I go from here. Since the damage is already done, what options do I have? For the balances that are currently unpaid, should I basically not pay them and let them go fly a kite or should I call them up to settle those balances? Is there any downside to me just not paying them? I'm basically fuming mad at them right now.  >:(

If they send it to collections it will be way worse for your credit than just having your cards closed.

How about settling with them? I have a credit monitoring service and already see 3 out of 5 accounts listed as closed and my credit has dipped a significant amount. I had a $30k credit line each on 2/5 accounts, 2 which were over $10K and the other $5k (the oldest card I have with chase). My utilization is ratio is through the roof right now. How much more will it hurt to settle with them?

Just looking for options. It sucks to be paying off a credit line thats now closed.

Probably not the right place but ;

Got a chase ink biz offer 50k sign up and if spend 50k in 6 months for 150k more all spend at 1.5

So for 50k spend 275k points not bad.

Thing is, I don't Wana open it in that biz name, I was gonna ask to open it in a sole proprietor biz name just link to my personal account

Is that a red flag if I have a biz card connected to personal account?

Not sure but if you are not going to use it I will take it.  :)

I've been reading all these posts about Chase shutting people down left and right with no explanation. 4 of my 6 CC's (including one biz) are Chase cards. If I got shut down, my credit is screwed! I do my personal and biz banking with Chase. Is it just better to switch banks for my banking needs?

Because some posit that many shutdowns are BECAUSE of the banking relationship.

There is an entire thread https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=93522.0 (https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=93522.0) not to bank with Chase if you have CC's with them. (Didn't post there because it hasn't been active in awhile)

I would defiantly switch - there are many banks that have all services Chase provides, but when it comes to credit cards they have unique benefits others don't have.
I would still be careful with all the other things people are posting to be careful about.

I'm worried because many of my siblings use my parents address, it's also where my LLC is registered and my personal mail goes.

I just live near my parents and picking up my mail is a good way to see my mom etc.  But all these threads worry me.

Should j get a mail box and have all my mail sent there ?

Revolving credit?

Never with 3rd party checks but yes from a business account to my personal credit card.

You should get a letter in the mail with the reasons for being shut down. Sometimes some of them are vague, but they gave me solid reasons such as revolving credit and I focused my complaints to the CFPB with those. Sent a detailed explanation on how chase was wrong to assume things and explained what happened (in my case a merchant charged for items and then refunded it many times ((as I ordered many of the same item)) instead of dropping the pending charge). Shortly after I got a letter from chase apologising for shutting me down, and sent me new cards of all my cards.

I don't see why a business card would be different.

I get it, personally I wouldn't go to CFPB as they're government, but I'll try again calling the bank again...

Appreciate your help!

I get it, personally I wouldn't go to CFPB as they're government, but I'll try again calling the bank again...

Appreciate your help!

So?

Is it okay to transfer a chase card balance to a Citi card (0% APR), when the Citi card is in my mothers name? (Same last name)

Is this like paying with a 3rd party check?

I believe chase wouldn't know who the cardholder is. they just get a check/wire from Citi with your account number in the memo

I got the letter. The reason is because rewards misuse. Anyone knows if I can be successful opening it back open?

What did you actually do? Is there no other reason?

I sold it to one of those guys buying points. They mentioned only this reason. (I know they had a crack down last week for these type of issues).

DW just got shut down. Doesn't hurt too bad bc all she had was a sapphire preferred and a world of hyatt. Seems like her UR balance is still intact (for now).

I'll wait to see what the letter says but only trigger I can think of is cycling ~$80k on a $20k CL to hit globalist last Nov. Other than that her cards get pretty minimal use.

Shocked that they didn't come after my sapphire reserve, 5 freedoms, or 2 inks. At least not yet.

DW was just closed down after applying for a new CF.
Had a Marriott Bonvoy Bold and a CIP (with ~200k UR), both over a year old.
Has one other card at a credit union, and no recent inquires.
No rewards misuse, in general very low use on the CIP and no use recently on the Bonvoy card.
Did have 5 air tickets (~3000$) bought on the CIP that were eventually refunded, but hey, it's COVID19...

Reasons given were:
NOT ENOUGH CREDIT INFORMATION ON FILE
THIS ACCOUNT AND/OR A RELATED ACCOUNT WAS CLOSED AT THE BANK'S REQUEST

Any chance for her to be reinstated? She won't be keen on calling in, so I'm thinking just biting the bullet and transferring the points out within 30 days.
Will I be able to get her other Chase cards in the future? What's the cooldown period?

EDIT: Am I able to transfer her points to my account (a Chase Freedom) even though I am not an authorized user on any of her cards (we share the same address)? Or is that guaranteed to get me shut down too?

I read that ;D So positive  ::)
If I was able to transfer it to a consumer card I'd feel more comfortable, but as the points are all sitting on the CIP card, IINM I need to be a co-owner of the "business" to be able to have the points transferred to me (according to the TOS). But it's true, I am worried that just transferring straight over would get me shut down as well...

I'm pretty sure it's either partner or same address

I have been closed down many times and it never effected family members. What happen in your situation?
"many times"??
one card a time? Or reopened and then shut down? Or many different people?

It's been 2-3 years since 6 of us at the same address got shut down with a total of about 20-25 cards total.
Checking accounts never affected.
We keep applying every few months, and every time (after clearing other issues) they always come back to those closures from then.
My mother at that address got a approved for sapphire a year ago (she was never shut down because she didn't have any chase cards)
Just spoke to chase executive office, they don't sound too hopeful but will see  :-\

Many that are banned get approved and sometimes the card lasts a day or two. Sometimes it is closed before you even get it.
Why not try?  :)

MO's to checking, reward abuse, multiple payments per cycle, overpaying CC and other things. Unlike others who pretend they did nothing wrong I know exactly what I did wrong.  :)

Interesting that you keep getting approved again and all 6 of us keep getting denied. Unless the address is the issue (although my mother got approved כנ״ל ) and maybe I should try applying at a different address.

What exactly was reward abuse May I ask? Transferring to too many spouses?

Lol

Seriously. Question though - with Chase I didn't lend money to the yeshiva, I was shut down when they did some big clean up on ppl who recently opened Marriott cards or so at least that's what I read on the forums. But I have applied for the Sapphire twice since this shut down 3 years ago and both times I get letters back advising that they can't approve me because I already have a Sapphire card. Both times I called up to advise i don't but both times they just, "can't figure it out". Actually this past time a few days ago after extensive research they did say it had something about being shut down 3 years ago. Sames exact thing is happening with my husband's account. Do you think the accounts are marked that we already have this card so it automatically doesn't approve? Has anyone seen or heard anything like this before? Any eitzas? Thanks!

SuggestIon - maybe we could make a wiki for his thread and users can keep editing it by adding their own shutdown reasons. This way others can see and maybe learn what not to do.
Just my 2 cents
