This is absolutely insane.

This is absolutely insane.
Seems like business may be really hard to find, and you need to email and wait to see what's truly available.
Seems like you can book free stopovers as well?
If you thought Singapore for 17.5k miles was cheap....

Can’t believe that Turkish is an airline I don’t have access to. Between chase and capital one, I thought I covered all airlines.

you can transfer points to Turkish from Citi ThankYou Rewards (1 to 1) or from Marriott Bonvoy (60K to 25K).
The 2 programs everyone loves to hate.

Have Marriott points but I noticed in the article:
“Note that transfers to Turkish Miles and Smiles are not instant. You will need to wait 1-2 days for miles to post.”
Not sure if I am willing to risk all on hopes that my award flights are still available once transfer is complete.

Unless I am doing something wrong, it appears that there is 0 business availability from Chicago to OGG / LIH in a 3month window (dec-feb).

Please remind us how your Turkish ticketing experience went again?

That might make TK look good.
But post if you book this.

Yup, not a single nonstop seat in J ORD-HNL for the whole calendar when I checked a few days ago.

Availability opens some times just like TLV routes.
Its possible and easy to book depending what email you have.

+1 you can find ppl on FT that have booked with TK many times by having some ticketing office email address, there are many locations that make you come in, so you really need the right one.

I think @ExGingi had good experience with them. Maybe @hvaces42, too, iirc.

Booked EWR-HNL-EWR on United for my brother and SIL for 60K Marriott -> 30K Turkish today. Took about 24 minutes on the phone. TK provided an e-ticket number for both passengers and a PNR. When I check the PNR on the United site it shows only one passenger on the itinerary and the named passenger is my name, not my brother's name as is shown in the TK email confirmation. I checked with TK and they confirm the flights were ticketed and issued to the 2 correct passengers and that I need to follow up with United to confirm everything else. If I give United the PNR they do not see any of those details. When I give United the e-ticket number from TK they say they cannot see the details not make any changes (e.g., like assigning seats) because it is a partner ticket and that I need to contact TK to make sure the tickets were issued.
Is it possible it just takes a few days for the itinerary to be ticketed? Shouldn't United be able to see the correct number of passengers and names from my PNR? Any advice on how to proceed?
-
There it goes.
Problems with TK start.
Is it really worth it? Isn't it cheaper (time value) just to book via a different way?
-
Their call center is horrendous.

Try the office in JFK.

Where's the fun in that? Isn't it cheaper (time value) to just use a simple 2% cash back CC and book all flights with cash? Timewise it probably is. But then there would be little use for this forum.

But
In many instances your right.

When booking an award ticket this way, will having the United explorer card still give me a free checked bag?
-
resolved?
Not completely. Bro has a new United PNR and is confirmed on the flight. SIL doesn't in United's system but does in Turkish's. So there's a lot of finger pointing as to who is responsible. As per United, If they tried to check-in for this flight my SIL would not be allowed to check-in nor board. Still not sure how to resolve.

Which should I use for 2 economy tickets - Marriot or Citi points?
marriot is 3:1 so would need 75k (that's incl the 5k transfer bonus)
citi is 1:1 so would need 30k TY points
per TPG, the assign a value of 0.8 cents for marriot ($600) and 1.7 cents for citi TY points ($510).

Personally I value Marriott at ~0.7 and Citi at ~1.4.

I did not mean to put much stock in TPG's valuations. Just curious which ppl thought I should use.
My logic ---- Marriot seems easier to earn (more cc) = less valuable. On the other hand, it has more conversion options = more valuable.

The possible earing rates on Marriort cards are less than on Citi cards, making Citi easier to earn in the long term.

any suggestions on how to save the $200 in luggage fees assuming I'm taking 3 bags?

Are you sure? I recently booked PIT-SFO using SQ miles and paid taxes using my explorer card and UA.com shows that I get free bags. I also confirmed the free bag benefit would apply with UA via Twitter.

anyone have success (or problems) signing up for a miles & smiles membership?
I am using the sign-up link from the main TurkishAirlines page and have had no success. Tried multiple browsers on different days. Either nothing at all happens or a "technical error" pops up.

It took about a month convincing TK there was an issue with their system. They finally agreed to reach out to United and they resolved the issue within a few days.

Soon to book my tickets as there is wide open economy non-stop availability. Just trying to decide on where to start my trip - Maui or Kauai.
PSA (thanks to JudahMcB) - email/phone inquiries to Boston office, rather than NY or CHI.

Very simple questions, but when transferring Citi TYP to Turkish (trying to book 15,000 Hawaii flights and at the beginning of this crazy convoluted process), do you put the letters TK or just the 9 numbers after it. Don't want to do anything to mess the transfer up. Also, does anyone know if there are any restrictions when transferring or booking with Turkish on United (for instance, Korean wouldn't let me book more than 5 people including myself on Delta, and they all had to be family members and verified beforehand with birth certificates) regarding family members. Thanks!

Just FYI. Reports on FT are that TK cant do partner bookings at the moment.

If searching on united's site with expert mode, what are the fare classes that Turkish would have access to if they are booking?
Thanks
