Not quite! although cheaper than non-corp, so not entirely worthless. YMMV.
Citi codes are awesome, milage charge on OW's.
FL A113400 gives free OW, $25 base fee.

This AWD - C0315029

I think the company is called Imperial Technology

The prices are beyond cheap!

e.g. Luxury car $70 Minivan $68 SUV- $68
Also the weekly rates are good

I have used this code for awhile and got rly cheap rates... Until I realized that it doesnt discount under 25 anymore.... not sure why.

BTW I rented once  in Miami - I took a cab from the airport and rented from the Miami location with this AWD - reserved a compact got a Luxury car (Pres Club) ... I didnt pay all those airport fees, and its free one way (dropped off in airport)

how can you tell Avis.com you're under 25? And dropoff at airport in the same city isn't really a OW

I dont think there is a way... After you make the reservation in the confirmation email it says - if ur under 25 there is a underage fee.... I dont think avis has it built into their site like enterprise - to choose underage

It sure is. As long as its being returned to a different location, avis will consider it an OW.
(especially when renting at a privately owned location and returning to a corporate/airport location.

im in the middle of a crazy story with avis, did anyone have a similar story or have any input.
im currently avis first.
i completed 5 us rentals
7 international rentals
when i rented internationally i used a different awd as i get triple upgrades with it
i called avis to add these rentals onto my account after i rented (usually no problem) that way i will retain my avis first
they told me not only am i not first im not even preferred!
WTH?!?!?!?
I told the lady i can email e-receipts and emails tat says avis first on it....
i did, i got a letter in the mail to re-enroll in avis preferred.
any idea whats going on?

All could be true, but I don't believe the insurance can decline to pay you for using an unauthorized AWD, unless that unauthorized one gets you an (additional) insurance, eg under age.

+1. it's not worth it if c"v something happens. But the awd I know of will let u rent but will charge u underage fee if ur under 21.
So I was once setting up a rental for my brother and he was 19 at the time and i got my father to rent it for him with that corp. (with permission from the owner of Corp. #) and he didn't pay underage bec anyone in that corp can be a second driver.

Not sure where to post that -

I used one of the dozens code from the OP (not sure which) and got a pretty good discount for a 25 days rental from TLV.
I got to about $450 for a class c (hyunday accent or similar...) for the whole thing online. I don't incur any underage fees and denied the CDW charges but when I arrived at the desk in TLV the clerk told me that my total was $800. (which is the $450 + $14 per day mandatory insurance)... anyway around that?

From the Avis contract:
"Third Party Liability Waiver (TLDW) is mandatory (taxable)
Customers relying on their credit card coverage are required to purchase TLDW."
and that's what the clerk pointed at when I asked what the $14 a day was

Customers relying on their credit card coverage are required to purchase TLDW."
and that's what the clerk pointed at when I asked what the $14 a day was
So? What happened eventually? You had to pay it or did you manage to get away?

Well I still have the car for another 2 weeks but the clerk told me in advance what the total would be. I am not sure how I can get away from a mandatory 3rd party liability coverage... hence my OP. I was just wondering with all the talk around DDF about waiving underage and CDW that no-one has tried or succeeded in waiving that steep fee! Or at least I didn't find anything on the forums... Is it also only Avis?

Are they good for one way rentals?
I have a res with national one way from CLE-ORD July 3-9 for $188 using uni of Ohio corp.
But I would feel mode comfortable going this way..  Should I? Does it make a diff?
Anyone have 7 reward certs for sale (if good for one way).?

Call billing and they should refund it if u don't have to pay it. otherwise just make a reservation at another company nearby.

This may have been discussed before and I apologize if it was.

When I know I have a 2 car level upgrade with avis what car should I rent? for example If a mini van (or any other type of special car)is only $10 more than a full size will it get me a better luxury car? etc... In short is there an official break down of car classes and what 2 car class upgrades would get you for each class?
Title: Re: Avis Master Thread

For Avis PC status, 2 car is the minimum.
Back when I was PC I often got luxury cars when reserving midsize.
Anyone with more recent experience?

How long/Dates?
I have used X192286 (not at BWI)...
You may also be able to add coupon codes as well, depending on the length of the rental.

I did a little research and I have come to the following conclusions: If you rent from Avis with a corporate account, you can be under 25 and anyone else from the corporation can drive even if their under 25. Spouses however, need to be 25. If you rent with USAA then you, your spouse as well as any other USAA member who is 21-25 can drive free.

This has been discussed before. Just to clarify, the above post is in regard to the rental agency - from their point of view/their rules.

If you are cv"h in accident, insurance may not cover if your name is not listed on the contract.

Thanx for the reference. However, that discussion was about Hertz, I was renting with Avis. Would that make a difference. Also, there seems to be no conclusion to this question about spouses/ AU. I would guess the only way to really know is by hearing from someone that ch'v actually got into an accident while driving as an au and was either covered or not covered..

A. You meant Presidents Club not circle unless you meant Hertz Presidents Circle which your only eligible for 1 upgrade and anyways this is the wrong thread. B. What does your UF corporate have to do with anything? Use USAA if your under 25

If you do not present a Florida State university employee ID they will charge you the going rate plus underage fees if applicable (even if you have Avis preferred where you can normally go straight to your car with this AWD they require you to present an ID each time by the counter.). They will also be extremely rude about it. (I am pretty sure the being rude part is a requirement)

Im not sure at which locations your searching at but at MIA for a full size for a week rental: USAA is $187 pay later and $166 pay now. With UofF its $242. :o . The cheapest I've found ever is right now with AA awd K817167. But you gotta be over 25 8) Pay later: $166 Pay now: $156 add in a $35 coupon MUWA191 and you got yourself a full-size for $120/week pretty sick!

Compare them for a 1 day rental in NYC. It seems in Florida USAA has a much better deal also on week rentals it seems cheaper. I almost never rent for a week and I almost always rent in NYC... Very interesting though...

Does anyone know what the deal is with Avis covering gas for the first 75miles? Is this a new thing how does it work?

A bit OT, just FYI, Most cc's that cover CDW, only cover on vehicles that are 7 passenger or less.
So even if the 15 passenger is cheaper then a mini-van, you'll get killed on the insurance costs.

don't you get a wizard number through having an online profile? Maybe you can change your place of residents on your application then change it after you have the account. If you can't change it online I'm sure a phone rep could change it for you.

Has anyone else had bad experience at Ben Gurion?
I got really bad service there when I returned my car and told them that my check-in closes in 20mins, they just told me to leave the key and take the shuttle that ironically, I just missed...
So I asked them if they can do anything else for me as I didn't have time to waste.
All I heard is that I should ''take the shuttle, take the shuttle...''
Had I not dropped off my wife with the suitcases before I would have missed the check-in as they specially kept it open for us.
Any help as to what I should do about it?

I got really bad service there when I returned my car and told them that my check-in closes in 20mins, they just told me to leave the key and take the shuttle that ironically, I just missed...
So I asked them if they can do anything else for me as I didn't have time to waste.
All I heard is that I should ''take the shuttle, take the shuttle...''
Had I not dropped off my wife with the suitcases before I would have missed the check-in as they specially kept it open for us.
Any help as to what I should do about it?

what would you have liked them to do?

Same thing happened to me last time in TLV, waited nearly an hour for a shuttle after they scammed me by charging me for pre-existing scratches and just barely made flight.

Really makes me want to return quickly :P
the shuttle frequency has greatly improved since the last time you visited

That's right. I even got the shuttle driver to leave straight away without waiting for some other passengers.
It's just the fact that they didn't care that got me very upset.

I was told that they could drive me to the terminal in the rented car and when I asked them they told me that they where short of staff, even though there was only one guy doing all the work and the two of them helping one other guy...

so to be clear, the "really bad service" and "bad experience" you had was that they didnt drive you to the teminal when they were understaffed? gotta love the jews...

I have a bunch of coupons from Daily Getaways. It says on the back of each one: "Specialty car classes such as H, F, W, Z, L, V, P, K, X(Cool Cars), and S are excluded."

Now... supposing I reserve a G, and then somehow talk them into giving me a nicer car, like a convertible or something... does the above sentence mean that the coupons will no longer cover my rental? Or will they still work, since the original reservation was for a G?

Okay, another n00b (to the Daily Getaways, at least) question. I tried searching the forums, but didn't find the answer for this:

I'm trying to reserve a Premium out of ORD starting tomorrow afternoon for two days on Avis.com, and it's pricing at a whopping $411.89 - base rate $289.98, taxes and surcharges $121.91. The back of the vouchers say I am responsible for taxes, concession recovery fees, etc. etc. etc. Is this for real? Does that mean that besides for the coupons, I still have to pay $121.91?!

Also, I seem to recall reading here on DDF that there is a "workaround" for getting your credit card to cover CDW/TP - i.e. since CC coverage requires that you pay for the rental on the CC, someone (I think it was Dan) had some kind of mehalech whereby you give the necessary info for the coupons, but don't actually submit them until the end of the rental - so if there was damage, you can keep the coupons and pay for the rental with the CC, and file a claim with the CC insurance. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

TIA!

Just the opposite, you give the CC info for rental pickup and upon returning you tell them not to charge your CC because you want to pay with coupons.
I don't see how they would rent without a CC on file in any case.

there are 2 types of taxes:
(1) % based  ( state sales tax)
(2) flat fee  (ie domestic security fee)

usually when you use a coupon it deducts the amount of the coupon pre-tax, meaning  if your total was 400 and your coupons are going to deduct 400 , so your total is 0 dollars, so if you're paying type (1) taxes, for example 8.25% ny state tax that equals 0 dollars, however if you add the type (2) flat fee taxes regardless of how much your total is you're still paying those taxes.

B'kizur you gotta see how much of that is type (1) and how much is type (2)

Right, but the coupons say on them that you must provide code TUTA037 at time of rental. So at the very least, even if I withhold the coupons until I return the car, it's still in the system that I'm using coupons. Unless I don't really have to give the code, and it's just a scare tactic?

Thanks for the clear and concise explanation!

So now I'm wondering... let's say there's $20 in fixed fees that I end up having to pay. If I pay those $20 with my WMC, will that qualify as having "paid for the rental in full using the CC" for CC insurance purposes (a la paying award ticket taxes/fees with an Amex gets you their baggage protection)? Or do I have to withhold the coupons until the end of the rental, as discussed above?

This is important, because in the event of minor damage, the withholding-coupons shtick will end up costing me the full price of the rental; thus, for $200 damage, I will have to pay the full rental price of $400 just to get it covered - not worth it. (It's as if the full price of the rental becomes my "deductible".) But if paying taxes/fees qualifies, then no worries there...

recently I viewed alot this as well as the Hertz master thread and I realized that when it comes to mileage-earning codes both threads still have alot to offer.
besides the point that we don't have here to much of those codes, also when we do see it here and there, its often cluttered deep inside the master threads, not up do date, and sometimes we have new threads on each new offer.
which made me think of opening a constantly updated master thread designated solely for those mileage codes, for avis, hertz, national all in one thread

what do you guys think. yah or nah ?
thanks.

IMHO updating the wiki, wouldn't be the best idea since some of those deals [e.g. the current AA 5K etc.] are set to expire. so its gonna have to he constantly updated which is easier on a thread then on wiki.
besides it looks like we can't really get the peep to update/view the wiki, as frequent as viewing the forums

When using USAA, AA (and im sure others) and no awd #,  Avis.com gives you the option of Paying Now (https://www.avis.com/car-rental/deals/deals-usca-US_en-022644/deals-usca-US_en-022645/prepay-US_en-035185?ICID=dl_prepay-US_en-035185) and saving of up to 30% off in addition to other discounts, although the best I've seen was 15%. I have some tips that I picked up after working with it for a while.
A: You only get the pay now option if you reserve more than 6 hours in advance.
B: If you have a coupon on the rental, you will receive a credit back from avis some time after the rental as when you reserve the car your cc gets charged the full amount and only after you return the car the system registers that you paid too much and you get it back as a credit.
C: If you need to cancel the reservation, if its 6 hours prior then you will get back the amount back less $25. If its within 6 hours you get charged a no show fee of $100. The $25 is usually easy to get off by calling cs and if its within 6 hours, I was thinking you could change the pickup time for later than 6 hours then cancel although I've never personally tried that.
D: It does get difficult to change something ( like awd) once you get the counter as its prepaid; although that would depend on the IQ level of the agent helping you.
E: This rule applies to any reservation: If you reserve using a preferred account, anytime during the day of rental the airport will "check you" into a car. Which basically means their assigning you a car. Once that happens, you cannot modify the reservation online as technically you checked out the car. I once reserved a car at the airport and I ended up renting from a local avis and the system would not allow the rep to rent me a car until she called and had the airport take me out of the car that they put me in there...

I was looking for rental in Mia now (12/30-1/9) and it came very expensive with the aa corp. I got from a friend another code which gave me much cheaper rates. U299960 with coupon                 MUCA131  $30.00 gave me $30 or TUCA080 gave me a free day

I've never heard of a $5/day coupon for Avis. There's free weekend day(s), weekly (5 days+) standard &full-size $35 off, smaller $30 off. Monthly $50 off. Also, Avis doesn't deduct the coupon from the estimated total in your reservation. You will only see it noted 'coupon accepted'. Once you rent the car you will see the coupon deducted on your rental contract.

Just got this on Friday
Good morning,
By Monday, our system should have your Preferred number upgraded to Avis First status, which is the equivalent to the Hertz membership you were receiving. If you would like to apply for an AWD (Avis World Wide Discount) for your small business, you can do so by going to www.avis.com. once you have the AWD, I can link it to your wizard number,

Have a great day!

I checked and it's not upgraded yet so I sent an email and will see what they say. This (if it actually worked) only took a few days.

fuggedabouddit you aint gonna get the status you want by matching.
if you'll nudge them to much, you'll loose out when doing it different ways!!

The status I want is beyond my hands, so I don't care being up'd to AvisFirst.

So I made a reservation with Avis. using the above code I got a pretty good price for 2/21-25 - $204. That's just a little more than the 180+ I got from National. Recently I got the status match to Avis First. Now they send me a email that I get a weekend free because I became a First member! So they said they'll take off 2 days (not the taxes, etc. only the rental - around 36x2). NOW that makes it the cheapest for me. Plus the free upgrade, etc. So if you match, keep in mind you'll also get an immediate weekend free. I'll report back IYH when I return if things actually worked out - I'm usually a bit too pessimistic.

I'm flying in this Thursday to FLL and leaving on Tuesday am. Original plan was a Intermediate rsvp and have my Avis PC upgrade it. total was approx 270. This included a -30 coupon. This was made weeks ago.

Today I sat down to maybe do a one way from FLL to Miami beach with a drop off the next day, and pick up a car same time at Miami beach to keep for the reminder for the trip and return that to FLL. From smaller locations sometimes you get a good deal plus you don't have to pay for the airport fees and taxes per day. This after all said and done would save me an additional 20 total but wasn't sure if it was worth the shlepp to south beach on Friday just to make that swap,

End of the day I think  I'm actually going to get picked up from FLL and just rent Friday from S Beach - FLL on Tuesday for a total of 185.75 for a standard which I hope they have an upgrade for me there.

Anyone have a Avis coupon that would help for a Friday 10am - Tues 10am rental?

Okay, I'm back from Miami and reporting my experience. As I mentioned before, I just recently got matched to Avis First. With that came a free weekend. So I used Avis. Arriving at MIA, after the two day trek on the people mover to the train and then the train ride to the rental cars - whew! - I went down to where the cars were, spent 2 minutes at the window, chose whichever car I wanted from the group (not that many available, only 2 or 3, took the Rouge, and was off.
Returning the car I may have spent 15 seconds with the agent. As smooth as silk.
The bill, instead of 204 was 119 because of the free weekned. Keep in mind the taxes stay, just the car charges for two days disappears.
All in all a great experience. (And of course a great Purim in Miami Beach!)

Was in a local Avis today and according to the rep avis was clawing upgraded cars back from customers. One guy got a convertible they told him that either he brings it back to the airport or they are charging him an extra $600. Another guy had a Tahoe and they came to his house, told his wife that they are repossessing her car?! He claims this happens during spring break in Florida as they are desperate for premium cars....completely dishonorable.

I usually do. But even secondary should cover the first 5k.  Very much like if your primary personal insurance has a 5k deductible then your secondary cc insurance would cover the deductible.

Does anyone know if their status gets you anything as far as discounts on rentals? Also, I'm sure it's somewhere in this thread, as of now, what are the best discount codes for MIA?

I called today to attempt to status match and they said they don't status match from 5 Star to First

Just picked up brand new Avalon from Avis. I've never seen one at Avis before. Must be a new premium car for 2013. The interior is reminiscent of the Volvo and the exterior is a mix of a bunch of cars. My feeling is that new car designs are very much like new songs: nothing original just a mix of the old ones :-X

Heard from someone close to the matter that Avis hopes to return the President's Club benefit to the United Club card.

Issues wasn't cost or too many members. It was that Avis had an agreement already with Amex for the Platinum Card...and they were only offering Avis Preferred via that card. The contract with Amex precluded them from offering higher benefits to other companys' credit cards.

So when Avis stared offering Pres Club status on the United Club card Amex noticed and called them on the contract.

Presidential Plus cards retained the benefit because they are no longer issuing cards.

No idea on timing though...

Hi folks,
Which CC covers various protection plans that Avis offers? I have Chase Freedom, United, Amazon, Chase Preferred, Amex Blue.

Do I need to pay with this card?

Thanks!

that being said. peep should know that sometimes HERTZ IL [kesher rent-a-car]  can sometimes book you an US reservation for the cheapest you'll ever get with a code. call chaim gross for details

If you live in the New York Metro area you can take the Amtrak or a bus to Wilmington Delaware and get a car for the summer for $1200 - $1300,use AWD-Z222082 and coupon code MUWA073,and for a $75 drop off fee you can return it to your local Avis.

I have a trip to Hawaii during peak December time and have a reservation for a one way reservation with AWD A074800 (Citicorp Leisure Travel)(KOA->ITO 12/22-12/27). It comes out over $500 dollars cheaper than any other "legitimate" code I can find. I am just worried we could get there and get asked for ID (all I have is a citi credit card) and then get told there are no cars or it will be thousands since it is super peak time. Any advice?    Do you think it is reasonably safe??

However you will never know when cars really are available. The agent can always say that car... we have a reservation for, its out of service etc.

I have a 2 day reservation at a rate of 64.78 + 13.95 fees. I'm only being charged 13.95 because I have 2 free day coupons. When I ask to extend for another 2 days they charge approx. 130 for rental. They told me the rate changed since I booked. Is there any way around this? If I just extend the rental once I have the car, will they give me lower rate?

Don't understand your question doesn't 64.78x2=130

Does Avis actually check or verify that you are affiliated with a specific corporation if you use that company's corporate code to book a rental reservation? Specifically has anyone used the A074800 Citicorps corporate code and had any problems with it? Trying to find the cheapest rental option and that code would do a world of good but unsure over the risks of using it as I'm not an employee of Citi. I tried looking through the many pages of this thread and couldn't find any answers on this. Any help would be appreciated!

I just tried using a074800 at avis in lga and they asked me the company name. I said citibank and they said that's the wrong name, you can't have that rate and upped the price $50. Now I see the name is citicorp leisure travel. Just a heads up, since this is a common code and lga is a common airport.

Hi,

Can anyone help me out here.

I'm looking to book preferably intermediate starting tomorrow 14th Aug (afternoon) till the 27th Aug (afternoon same time).

I would be a big help if pickup would be EWR or JFK.

The price out for me at closing in to $800.

I find this very much, if someone can help.

Thanks a lot

Its a old code and it's flagged for ID at many locations. I would suggest a backup reservation just in case.
I picked up my car this morning from phl. It's a mini van one way to lakewood for $51.
I got on the avis shuttle and the driver asked for my name, screen said cntr, (others on the bus had cars assigned).  I figured they wanted to see ID because its flagged.  When we arrived to the lot the driver called out their names and told them the spot number, by me she told me to hang on. Driver radioed in and they said they're printing the contract. Driver then told me she's going in to get my contract for me. The inside guy ended up coming out to the shuttle - contact in hand and asked me if this is a business rental, to which I replied yes. He gave me the contract and out I went.
So I guess this is a flagged corporate, but worked for me.
I hope when I return to the freehold location that they don't cause any issues, doubt they can.

Obviously when the driver told me to hang on I didn't harass her and ask why, just continued making small talk with her...

Why do you need writing? If it works, it works

Or look at www.carrentalsavers.com/usaa
It says it there

Now even if it officially allows you to rent at 18, lots of licensee locations won't let. It must be a corporate location.

Title: Avis Price mistake
Post by: HFishman on July 09, 2014, 02:50:38 PM
I recently found a price mistake on the Avis site and went ahead and booked multiple monthly reservations. 2 days later I got a call from Avis that they will not honor the price I booked it for. They said that they don't have to honor price mistakes. In addition, because I booked it with a corporate account number they don't have to honor it as well.

Would some one know what the actual rules are regarding Avis if they have to honor the reservation or not?
Can any one point out a law that would hold them accountable?http://forums.dansdeals.com/Themes/default/images/bbc/underline.gif

Yes most companies allow change at the return even to cash or a debit card so don't see why pay now would be different. They just give you a cheaper rate bc it garauntees them the reservation

I’m an Avis Presidents club member, I’ll be landing in JFK and need a car for 35 days. Doing the whole thing at the airport would cost about $1600. So I would like to make a 5 day reservation from the airport to any location, which would cost $155. And do a monthly rental from any NJ location, which costs about $850-950. Now since I’m a president I’m expecting to get a double upgrade or more at the airport, but I don’t want the local location to change my car. Does anyone have any experience doing such things? Any specific location that would be recommended?

You should always be happy  :)

I wouldn't say it's a "major program", but who wouldn't take free upgrades.

Double upgrades? It says one class upgrade, how do you pull off 2?
Also, I just ordered for Succos a standard SUV, you think they will upgrade me?

it all depends on the mood of the rep by the counter

FYI. So just rented yesterday in chicago and the rep told me on the phone to bring my Costco card to verify the discount. When I came I said it was a first for me and said I rented in FL 2 weeks ago and they didn't card me. She said there is a push in the Chicago area and they must wrote down the member/id numbers to verify the discount. If you can't verify they will remove it.

I would imagine that the coupon code used for the reservation was not the same as printed on the coupon.. correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, did they notice and take it anyway, or did they simply not realize?

I think it's the same code year to year.  So it prob was the same code. My husband was the one who gave it to them.  I think they didn't look at all.

The truth is,  we did pay for the coupon but just didn't get a chance to use it

The codes you tried may in fact still be valid, but expire at the end of the year. Typically, rental car companies release new coupon codes quarterly. You can make a reservation now without a coupon code, and modify (or make a new reservation later).
But are you looking for Avis only? other agencies are cheaper for that time/location.

Hertz and Dollar both had comparable rates at around 360 (avis was +100 more), that's without coupon code discounts, which can likely be added when they become available.
As mentioned, with a status match to Hertz, you may get an upgrade.

I think there are two choices:
1. Use the code on the reservation but don't give in the coupon until ths rental is done.
2. Reserve the car for a day more than you need, then return early.

There's been reports that it works. Many local locations are licensee, you can call Avis to find out if the location is corporate or licensee.
Try opening a wizard number with usaa corporate by calling Avis wizard department 866-842-5552
Basically it's not a computer block out, but you may need to get a stupid agent at the location that will allow you to rent.

NO, licensee (at least in NJ) is a no go.
Corporate is a YMMV
Better chances if you open a wizard number by calling, NOT by lying on your age on the online sign up page!!

it wasn't in the lakewood area.

The first time i rented from Avis, i first needed to activate my Wizard number. The guy at the counter was on the phone for 10 minutes and came back saying that for Budeget you need to be 21 but for Avis you can be 18.

also, once your birthyear in on the drop down, you're able to create a wizard number online.

Not sure if this is new, but comes in pretty handy if you have an $100+ taxi and you get free gas.

Have used it several times from LGA and EWR. Note that there are day of the week and advance booking requirements. The rate includes gas, so make sure that they don't charge you for not refilling the tank. I had to haggle with the Atlantic Ave. location in BKLYN over that in the past.

I rented a car with Avis that I prepaid with Priceline and they offered me a car which I didn't like and haven't had a good experience with so I asked for a different one.
Apparently they upgraded me and charged me an extra $200 for the week, I signed the contract without realizing there was an added $20 a day.
When I signed I I thought I was declining the insurance coverage and bringing back car full etc I feel was deceived the rep never said anything about price difference and would have never agreed to pay an extra $20 a day for the rental which lasted 7 days.
I'm having no luck so far getting them to reverse the charges, I have been speaking to one rep after another at Avis headquarters and to no avail...
At the branch no one answers, anyone have any suggestions for me?

call the location

I know with Hertz they sometimes have "back door numbers" to the bigger locations, try calling roadside and ask them if they can patch you through or if they can give you the number, they usually have the best list of numbers.

Quite possibly will end you up on the DNR, I don't know how long they put you on for though...

Don't know about the dispute, at the end of the day you signed for it but Avis doesn't always follow through with disputes

I saw something on DD FB group that Avis gives a generous late return policy but cant find it again. As of right now I need 9 days and 2 or 3 hours in Kauai. Dollar is $530 for 10 days and Avis is $513 for 9 days. Want to lock something in till it gets closer and I try Priceline. Will Avis let me return the van a couple hours late?

If you take care of the ticket they won't charge you, you don't need to tell them anything.

set up a rental friday using a code to try to waive the underage fee. When i called to make sure they told me the code didnt waive the fee, but they asked if i was a military, USAA, or Costco member (not sure why the 3rd was placed in that category)  but i told them i am a costco member. She plugged in a costco code that waives underage as long as i present my costco membership at the rental. rep wasnt able to say code to me over the phone, but it gave me a better rate than i originally had along with waived fee.

-1 you need to tell AVIS that you got the ticket and are handling it so they don't pass on the ticket to you and charge you an administrative fee to do so.

this is incorrect. they can tell the courts that you were renting and levy an administrative fee for just letting the courts know who to mail the ticket to. even though you are planning on dealing with the ticket, the rental company has no way of knowing for sure what you are planning. this has happened to me.

Seems like Budget codes can be interchanged with Avis?
I understand they are one company but its still pretty cool.

Update if anyone is interested.  I found out what AWD the third party booking site had used and was able to successfully price out a new reservation at the same rate on Avis.com. The problem was that once adding my Wizard number it automatically went back to their preposterous rate. Eventually I realized that since I had signed up for my Avis account with Amex, their AWD was overriding all other.  I changed that and all is good now.

it looks like this gets rid of one way rental fees.

did you do it? wondering what happens if they ask for your employee id

Sign up for Avis preferred and you'll never get any questions. There is a sign that tells you where your car is parked, period.

I am planning on renting a car from avis at the denver international airport in late august. I thought that if I join avisi preferred that I could bypass the lines but I was told by avis that I would still have to stop by the counter to verify my identity etc. Is there a way I can activate my avis preferred membership at my local avis branch before my trip so that I can bypass the lines? I will be travelling with small children and it will be difficult for us to wait on a long line. thanks

Hello everyone I was wondering if anyone could help me.
I have Hertz PC and I am trying to get Avis President's Club. I read up on statusmatcher.com/company/avis, and it seems it is generally standard practice to match PC with Avis PC. So I sent proof and a request to profileupdate@avisbudget.com, and they upgraded me to Preferred Plus, which is hardly anything. When I replied to them (several times), they just kept on citing company policy that PC is invite only not status match.
Any ideas???
Thanks

Funny I came here to post this...

I did it in January. I sent an email to Profile.update@avisbudget.com with a picture of my Hertz President's Circle membership card, and my Avis account number. The first time I sent it I didn't get an answer. I resent it 10 days later and  got a reply the next day that they upgraded my status.

What did you get Avis First?

Preferred plus.

Not sure it's worth it for preferred plus...

You should check your status with Avis. They upgraded me to Preferred Plus without responding to me.

To clarify, my question about North America was: If I change my address or something like that, will they be willing to match me then?

If you would have booked let's say with a Brazilian phone (sim card), it would have chosen as default Brazil as residence.

And if I book earlier than I actually land will my reservation stay on the board so I don't have to go to the kiosk? Or does it fall off at midnight?

Not officialy. Sometimes they have the same employees managing the same two companies, and they might honor it, but don't count on it at all.
