Coincidence that it's nearly the same siyum day as agudah or completely different cycle?

Nice to see that they scrolled the names of the mesaymim rather than just donors and that they asked the mesaymim to come down to dance by the hadran, rather than wealthy ticket holders like by MetLife.

Just from watching a bit of the livestream: A whole lot of Yiddish, and way more of a chassidish presence than MetLife.

What an amazing event!! Overwhelmingly Chassidish and in hindsight it was obviously geared towards the Chassidim.

Aguda should've hired these guys instead.

Of course, but Aguda was a disaster at every level. Here everything worked like clockwork. Sound was the best ever seen. Same with Mona and the music, production etc.
Aguda hired incompetent people and the planning and execution was poor.

You do realize that other frum Jews exist besides Chassidim, right? As a Klal organization, Agudah has a responsibility to be geared to all Frum Jews, and I hope that you have the capacity to understand that.

These people are competent enough to run it geared towards the Aguda crowd. That's my point.

Aguda hired the wrong people and the execution was therefore a disaster.
I say all this as a staunch agudist.

I didn't have any issues with Agudah's program. I thought everything was beautiful. You may have been thrown off by the outdoor-in-the- freezing-cold vs. comfortable indoor event.

I was even upset at Dirshu for competing with Aguda. But after the Aguda siyum was a letdown, and I saw the beautiful Dirshu siyumim abroad, I decided to buy a ticket last minute after they were all sold out. Read my posts in other groups.

Choir. Music. Sound. Production. Actually gave people a few bottles of water, a sandwich and danishes, instead of the super stingy Aguda.

The fact that this was a better concert doesn't make Agudah a disaster. Levine, Daskal Helfgott are no disasters. Of course sound is better in a smaller indoor venue.

Speaker lineup here was pretty solid, but Novominsker, R Frand, R Shmuel, R Antwerp were also no disasters. Plus the on field snippets, plus the videos which were all great hits.

The sound was so bad IMHO at Aguda and the choir can't even compare, that I don't think the main issue was Aguda being outdoor.

Ehem eHem... sound was horrendous by the last dance set at the end. And throughout the entire event was decent at best. They didn’t nail it unfortunately. Time to hire real goyishe sound guys that do these mega concerts for a living instead of using the sound guy who’ll be tomorrow in Ateres Chaya...

In addition, the ushers (heimishe Yoilys) did terrible job keeping ppl from coming down to the aisles. Also for those of us who had $180 tickets to get “food” was total fluke. They had to close the restaurant in middle cuz there was no food anymore

Dude I love Jews. I am a Jew. My mother is Jewish. They had the best musicians and choir in the world! Just when it comes to sound production it all matters in experience. Very simple. Keep your hate to a minimum if you can.

In the end of the day there is only one true way to measure the success of the programs. If thousands of people were uplifted, and inspired to commit themselves to further learning, the event was a success. Period.

So we are measuring the success of two events based on the music and food?
Choir, music, sound?
So basically Dirshu through a better concert then Agudah?
I attended the barcley center last month and was truly inspired by the speeches (and one man band at the barcley) there was no food, no crazy band and singers but there were yidden getting together to celebrate the finishing of Shas.

People finishing shas has no bearing on whether organizers did a good job. They're tasked with providing a comfortable and enjoyable celebration. Music, sound is not the core of the event but it is the core of the organizers' jobs.

Both pretended as such and D's blew out the A's. Event size has no bearing on the lineup and execution of the singers/music. Bottom line, A's focused on providing a posh event for their one percenters while D's focused on providing an experience for every last person in the rafters. Both were very successful.

How was A's a concert at all? The only singing was for the "dancing" and the kel molie?

How long did the inspiration last?? Have you done anything concrete to elevate your learning?
I haven't opened a Sefer in at least 5 years. Since the Siyum I have a Chavrusa twice a week and i'm learning Brochos at my own pace with the app.
So how long will it last? I dont know.
Did it elevate my learning? You tell me!

Yep.
I brought my son to the Siyum HaShas, 2 days later, he tells me he wants to make a siyum on Seder Moed, every night he brings me a mishnayos, and we learn together.

My elementary age son attended the siyum somewhat reluctantly. By the time it was over he decided he’s going to do meseches brachos with the daf Yomi schedule. He’s up to date, and well on his way to finishing his first mesechta....

For all you sound guys, they bought in engeniers for sound from IL the main production company was MC Productions (Micael Caplin) who is considered one of the best if not the best in the line in the jewish world, and AF productions did the logistics as they are more local.

I did attend both siyumim whilst the metlife event was nice and insporational the speeches were too long and too many considering the lengh of each one, as for the other aspects of the siyum, at metlife they seemed to make sure the high rollers and machers were happy and had what they wanted and the rest seemed slightly forgotten, and i think one can make the oppisite argument some are making about the english vs yiddish i was at metlife and there was at least half maybe a little less of the attendees that understand yiddish and they felt the event was mainly geared to one sect.

Now at Dirshu they did not provide the type of lavish food aguda gave to their high rollers but on every other aspect they well and truly delivered i'm not even going to  talk about the music because it was on a whole other level, the speeches were shorter (besides for one that went more than 10min over) and more in number but they were very good and to the point. only rabonim and R' Hoffshteter got kavod and no one else. There was food for everyone not just people who paid for expensive tickets, and last but not least i left inspired to make sure that when i finnish each daf to have a good understanding of it and not just listen to a shiur and go on my way without making sure i have the daf stored by me.

p.s. we really missed having R' Abish Brodt singing ;)

The agudah siyum at metlife probably had the appropriate amount of Yiddish relative to the number of Yiddish-only speakers.

Case in point, I was at Shwekey’s Concert for his Center Run campaign which took place this past summer on the tarmac of the Lakewood Airport. The sound company was I think ConcertsRUs. Gosh did you feel the sound in your ribs!!! It was just what great sound companies do!!

Personally I think both Agudah and Dirshu were beautiful in their own way. Yes, the music was definitely better at D, however I felt A was more inspiring. I think both ought to be applauded for inspiring so many to start/continue learning shas and that's ulitmitely the goal.

Dirshu was very nice.
Only thing that wasn't good from my vantage point in row 1, was the blue lights and the smoke. It gave the room a hazy look.
I wanted to see the stage and people clearer.
But nicely done.

i.e. you suppose to say "we will now have the זכייה to hear Rav.." , not "we will now have the זכות to hear.."
