Title: NJ only:Chevy Bolt (electric car) $55/$72 a month 36/10k miles with one pay
Post by: shmaltz on September 30, 2020, 01:22:19 AM
NJ residents only. Costco member by 8/31/2020. Currently leasing a car. 36 months/10k yearly.
This is an electric car that can go up to 260 miles on a full charge. Only possible with one payment of $6980 for the Bolt LT model or $7590 for the Premier model. You will receive a 5k rebate from the state of NJ within 90 days (current timetable). Total cost is effectively $1980 for 3 years = $55 for the LT model or $2590 for 3 years = $72 a month. There is no tax on Electric cars in NJ.
I am not a broker or dealer, but Iím working with a dealer and taking a cut.
There are only 4 LT models and 2 Premier models available right now.
I canít promise you this deal as I donít have the final say, however, itís very likely that I can get it for you. Please PM if interested. Need to have funds to lay out the full amount for one pay, of which 5k will be returned via the NJ rebate. It may take time for me to respond to your PM.

NY also has a rebate for the Bolt. not 5k though. It's 2k. Still a nice deal.
Can you do it for NY residents, or does it need to be purchased in NYS?

It may be possible, but it would cost you an additional 3k, as this price includes the 5k from the NJ rebate.

$2k in rebates for NYS has to be purchased from NYS dealer. Won't work if bought from NJ dealer. And there will be sales tax in NY.

Is this with loyalty or conquest? That should qualify for an additional $1,500 off.

What is the MSRP on the LT? Any options added? Also, can supplier bring the price down (I believe dealer gets credited ~$700)?

I can't refer people for this deal, but as a FYI I recently closed on a $5400 1pay - $5000 for a 39.7k MSRP LT. Around $1100 was paid with someone else's expiring GM points, so $6500 is a better comparison price, assuming the MSRP is similar. Oh, and I already was credited $140 in CC rewards :).

The dealer just told me that he can only guarantee the price for today since itís the last day of the month and he would need the person to be by the actual dealership, about an hour from Lakewood. Iíll keep you posted if he changes his mind tomorrow and there are still any left. You need good credit as well even though itís a one pay

Regular outdoor plug if you have a lot of time. Level 2 chargers are relatively cheap to install and will cut the time to charge by a lot.

Yes, the charger that comes with the car plugs into a regular outlet, but charges about 4 miles per hour. A level 2 charger can charge the full 260 miles in about 8/9 hours. A level 3 charging station charges it about 100 miles in a half hour. There seems to be a charging station on route 70, right near route 9 in Lakewood.

Additionally, NJ is in the process of releasing a rebate of $500 towards the purchase and installation of car chargers. Itís best to get a 40 Amp charger, and thereís a ĎMuststartí Charger for $350 on Amazon with many great reviews. As far as installing an upgraded outlet/wiring, I got a quote for $200 from a local electrician, but it may depend on how far your circuit breaker is from the location of your outlet - mine is at the edge of my garage, so the outlet would be very close by. It is also way less expensive than gas.

I just got 2 of these today. The dealer is not taking anymore reservations at the moment. He has almost 100 people on the waiting list. Final total after NJ 5k rebate was $3,000 for 36 months with 10k miles, and $750 for $7,500 damage waiver. I will keep the forum updated if anything changes in regards to reservation availability. Please do not pm me in regards to this lease as I cannot help you.

Regular outlet works for mostly local driving like commuting to work. Assuming you drive 50 miles per day and it charges for 10 hours, that means every morning your range will be 10 miles less than the day before. If you keep it charging over shabbos, you'll recharge it back to 100%.

Effective under $100 a month for the SE with everything rolled in, after the NJ rebate. Around $160 for the Limited. 10k miles/year. About another $10/month for 12k.

So it's not similar, as it won't end up costing < $100/mo.

How do I find a dealer in NJ with a Bolt?
Does Costco coupon work outside of Costco?
https://www.chevrolet.com/dealer-locator#!?searchTerm=08701&searchType=postalCode
You can call all the dealers on the list (must be a NJ dealership) and ask them if they have the Chevrolet Bolt available to lease. If they do you should ask them what the final price is after the following:
1) $3,000 Costco incentive
2) Lease conquest incentive (should be about $1,500 off if you currently have another lease in your household)
3) One pay option (pay the full lease amount upfront)
4) $5,000 NJ EV rebate

You should probably also ask them what they charge for a damage waiver, as that will not be rolled into the price they quote you. There also may be a difference in price between 10k or 12k miles.

If anyone finds a dealership that is willing to work with you and the price is right please let all of us know.

Thank you and good luck!

MSRP is set by the manufacturer.
Selling price is always determined by the dealer. So they raised the selling price?

The only change of price that I know about is between this month and last month. Every month car companies roll out new pricing. For instance the dealerships were paying Chevrolet $1,200 less for the Bolt last month, therefore the price was cheaper to lease.. Though every dealership can charge what they want to.

NJ gives a rebate so demand should grow so supply should increase. Not for price to grow and demand remain stagnant. They have to figure out how to make this rebate price increase proof.

It's just the cost of running a new circuit from the circuit box to the charger location. Shouldn't be much more than a couple hundred dollars.

A 40 amp level 2 charger costs about $400. You need to have a 220 volt outlet to plug it in to.

So basically youíre talking an extra 600 to more like 800 to get a reasonable overnight charge. You are starting to approach the price of some of the standard car cheaper lease deals with more hassle.

Even at $800 over 36 months you're talking about an extra $22 a month, so not a big difference. Plus, this is now a capital improvement to your house and can continue to be used after the lease expires if the lessor obtains any EVs in the future (which seems likely for everyone eventually).

Unless you're expecting to drive 50+ miles per day, the 120v charger should be enough.

Yes and no.
If I decide I want to travel more than 50 miles at any given moment I'll have to make myself crazy where I can charge my car the night before.

in my opinion it's worth it to get the faster charger and unplug it should you feel you don't need more and that way you'll save on electric.
Or just fill it up that way you don't have to charge it the following days.

In my opinion it's a win-win getting the better charger.

Can someone who actually has one of these cars tell me what they're paying for insurance per month?

I heard it's quite costly is that true?
As parts on an electric car requires a lot more knowledge than repairing a gas powered vehicle with an engine and all.

NJ is rolling out a $500 rebate towards the installation and buying the charger. It seems like this was already approved but they donít have a firm date yet. This info is on the same website as the car rebate.

You can always quote one out on your policy to see what it would cost you.

Does anyone know if dealers are cheaper now than 2 weeks ago? 2 weeks ago I was getting quotes for about 7,800 for 10k miles and 8,300 for 12k miles a year before the 5k tax rebate.

I got at this price from Sea Coast Chevorlet. They have a long waiting list.. Someone told me that he got one through Westmount at a better price, though I cannot vouch for accuracy..

Are you willing to share dealer availability?  I am seriously considering getting one of these now.

I'd recommend downloading plugshare and chargepoint. They are both apps that help with finding charging locations.

According to a broker here, the NJ Charge Up program is ending on the 15th DTC, so make your lease/purchase before then.

From https://chargeup.njcleanenergy.com/

Post-Purchase or Lease Program Update
Due to the overwhelming popularity of the Charge Up New Jersey program, most of the programís FY 2021 funding will be allocated by the end of 2020. According to the EV program requirements (published in the FY 2021 Compliance Filing), all incentives are subject to availability of funds. Therefore, applicants must purchase or lease their EV on or before December 15, 2020 and submit their application to the program portal by March 15, 2021 to be eligible for a post-purchase incentive.

@yelped ?
You or someone in the household have to be a member of Costco as of 8/31, unless you sign up by a store that opened after 8/31, such as the one @S209 linked to. That's all.

If you're paying everything upfront it doesn't hurt to get a cosigner with a Costco membership
