Title: Paypal key refund
Post by: Davidthebest on December 24, 2020, 04:47:00 PM
So I hopped on this deal that Dan posted
https://www.dansdeals.com/airfare-deals/international-flights/smoking-hot-fly-delta-nonstop-lie-flat-business-class-jfk-sao-paulo-478-round-trip/ and used PayPal key (attached to my freedom) as the payment .

Day later I decided to cancel . And for some reason the refund went back to my pay pal cash plus balance instead as a direct refund to the freedom .

I guess the reason might be that after the charge , I switched around PayPal key to a different card. And therefore they couldn't process the refund direct to the CC.

Now I'm not sure if that would be a Free Cash advance hack , or just a way of manufactue free points , as I can use the cash pretty much for anything including paying back the CC charge and still get points for that.

Curious to hear if someone else knew about it or tried it.

I had the same thing with a returns, it went to my PP balance not to my CC. Any returned item goes to your PayPal balance, without switching your card. So technically you could manufactur points like this but I have no doubt the CC will catch on and shut you down. Just like they caught on to the PPK Plastiq hack which in a way was much more elaborate and involving 3 companies

As far as it says on there site it should go back to the CC unless you are changing your card.

When I dealt with them back in the day, I took them to the cleaners. I remember one time specifically an exec had to call me to ask for money they thought I owed them ;)

Wrong, some refunds go back to CC used.

Not just that, they notoriously freeze people’s money for a while and leave them hanging.

Happened with me once. Rest of refunds went back to card. Not sure if it was due to changing the card.... however the only difference I can see was that when I placed the order (Nordstrom.com) it processed as HAUTLK but when it returned it processed as Nordstrom so I guess they couldn’t find the exact same name to process refund so they just send back to PayPal cash balance. Anyone else see that?

When I processed the purchase it said PayPal priceline , but after refund to cash plus it changed the name on the CC to "paymerchant" without the name paypal and within earing 5× on the freedom
