Title: Non-AMEX Return Protection/Extended Warranty: What Was Your Experience?

We all know AMEX offers probably the best in the business, but there should be a thread on Chase as well, seeing as they're offering some pretty compelling products (read: Sapphire Preferred + Ink Bold).

It's not really "Chase" offering the benefits, it's Visa or Mastercard, so I'll take the liberty of changing the title.

Bought 2 items at a store in Kansas, one on AMEX, one on Chase MC.
Did return protection on AMEX without a hitch.  Did return protection on Chase MC and they called the store and the store agreed to do a refund for me next time I'm in Kansas, so Chase MC denied the claim.

I just got my check in the mail for price protection.
Seems like chase has a 3rd party company doing the claims for them. The name is "mondial usa". It has nothing to do with visa/MC.

For some reason I got the impression that this 3rd party company is chases insurance company. Which means that every month chase pays them a premium and they need to cover any claims that come in. Makes sense?

Of course. Though I'm not sure what they're payment schedule is.

That's how AMEX does it as well. They're insurance (at least extended warranty) is underwritten by "AMEX Assurance Company." Now, it may also happen to be owned by AMEX, but it's absolutely a different company.

My experience was terrible. I tried to use their price protection and they used every excuse in the book to deny my claim. I worked very hard getting the papers together and sending them, but every time i called they had problems locating my files. In the end i just gave up, (it was just too time consuming) but i learned my lesson the hard way: Visa does not even come close to Amex when it comes to the card protections/benefits (at least IME)

Additionally, AMEX doesn't either provide return protection for items bought outside the US. I found this out the hard way.

i purchased somthing with chase sapphire visa, was trying to use the return protection, as the store does not accept returns,
Enhancement Services, called the store and conviced them to take it back for a store credit, otherwise his "credit may be ruined". so he now agrees to give me a store credit, however i dont want to go back to the store again, also is distent away.

Wana take them to small claims court.....  anybody done that ???? what r my chances??

Filed a claim for Return Protection with Chase Sapphire Preferred.

Didn't have an itemized receipt so they asked me to write one up :P

Got the claim approved but it ended up not being worth it after having to ship the items back so I am just letting the claim expire.

I'm thinking of buying the AMEX Premium Return Protection just so that they cover the return shipping in the case that they ask for the item(s) back.

my personal experience was great i purchased a washing machine using gold premier card
broke after 1 week company didnt want to replace it  only fix machine they fixed it broke 2nd time diffrent problem  after 90 days though after the 30 day amex garantee they put it back in dispute as they saw the original call in during the first week after we purchased
  the retailer ate it (must give kudos to town appliance in lkwd nj) took back and exchanged the machine for a diffrent model brand new machine   said he was having many complaints about that particular model though company didnt recall it and kept denying any problems

used chase visa to cover a piece of furniture they made me hire s/o to come down to my house to write that its broken then they called the store to find out how much the replacment part cost not including labor and delivery. so i ended up paying all those cost myself and the just credited me for the part. nerve

It is chase sapphire card i was talking about, and we deal with their adminitrative company called enhansment servies which is owned by NEW 9national electronics warranty)

and they did over night the check........................ got it this morning

As long as it was a covered item and within 90 days, they'd reimburse you up to the per-item/annual limits.

If it's not Chase, rather V/MC, then why is it different on the SP from any V/MC? What makes SP's cover so much better than any other?

Terrible experience with Chase SP return protection. I tried to return my Britax B Ready stroller. They wouldn't take it back because they said that they can't tell that Buy Buy Baby won't take it back. I said it says on their policies that they only take back new items and since the stroller was used they won't take it back. They said they need something in writing from the store. Went to the store and the manager said he can't give me anything in writing-it already says it in the store policy. However he sympathized with me as chase (not really chase but whatever) being a bunch of idiots and made an exception and took it back for me (he said that's why he doesn't have any credit cards from chase, I was gonna say and that is why I have 4 and my wife has 6, but I held my tongue)

They told me that when I submitted my claim for the Groupon laptop, that it was still within the 45 day return policy of the store (which I did not know). However, they didn't tell me this till after the 45 day period, and as a result, I couldn't return it to the store, and Chase denied me as well.
I've called back and gotten no where, but will try one last time this week.

Chase SP return protection (90 days) go through Chase Enhancement services.  They won't take back my laptop which I bought from BestBuy which needs to be repaired by HP.  HP claims I will be without the laptop for over a month to fix a small chip!!  This is pathetic- should stick to AMEX for big purchases

Bought a refurbished galaxy tab at tiger direct about a year ago with freedom card, and now the screen glass broke, I dont think Tiger will replace or fix it, do I have any luck with chase thru extended warranty?

i had a crazy lucky story with my chase SP:

 I have a retractable gold nibbed fountain pen (Namiki vanishing point)

 the day after my wife bought me a new fine point nib for the pen i got into my car with it in my pocket, somehow my leg pressed the lever which extended the nib as i was closing the door and the delicate 18k gold nib got smashed.

 While reading the through the T&C's i noticed that there is some very vague terminology about them covering damage done in a car if there is movement involved.
  On the wild off chance i submitted a claim explaining in detail precisely what happened. They asked for a letter from a fountain pen repairman stating that it could not be repaired, somehow i got the owner of a local pen shop to write me up a letter and they actually refunded me the full price!

Just did it with SP's Price Protection on the SodaStream deal. I bought it originally for $80 from Amazon in March and now it was $63 through Staples - 20% from Dan's coupon code. Chase/Visa wouldn't take the last 20% because it was just a code, and the advertised 20% off on the site was already included in the $63.99 price, but they did refund me $15 so that's cool. Wasn't too difficult. I called up to get the form emailed to me and the rest of the process was done via email. Emailed them the completed form, screenshot of my Amazon invoice and screenshot of Staples page. Took 5 days from first email till they confirmed I was going to be refunded.

There are some slick-ish deals as of this posting for a 60" 120Hz 1080P Sony TV for $339 at some Wal-Marts and $678 at other Wal-Marts. How easy would it be to buy at a Wal-Mart that has the TV in stock close to me for $678 and Price Match to a Wal-Mart 3 states away that has the TV in stock for $339? Maybe easy isn't the right word (!), but is it doable with a screenshot of Wal-Mart iPhone App?

The issue is that Wal-Mart near me has the item for more money than a Wal-Mart 500 miles from me. The goal is to buy close to me for $$$ and get refunded the difference via a price match to the Wal-Mart farther away.

I am purchasing a piece of furniture that comes with a 1 year manufacturer warranty (Ashley) - which is the best credit card to use for extended warranty Chase CSR? Amex Platinum? or Citi card? Will they cover wear and tear?

I was wondering if there were any new data points with Chase/Visa return protection? I purchased a $350 camera from eBay that was new and sealed. I noticed that it tends to overheat when recording long duration 4K video. I am wondering what the difference in paperwork is like between purchase protection vs return protection. I saw some were asked to take it some place to get a repair estimate if you are filing a purchase protection. I believe a return protection you are on the hook to ship the item to them. The ebay store does not accept returns.

Ebay, as long as the item is in new/sealed condition, has never been an issue with Amex. Initially I'm not seeing anything in the T&C's that prevents a return from something purchased on eBay.

I've looked into this in the past and it's unclear, but I've seen some places write that most likely it would still be covered.
