Title: Star Alliance Gold Questions Master Thread
Post by: YudiG on April 29, 2012, 08:47:26 AM
In order for companion to get the benefits of *G, they have to be listed on the reservation...

Suppose the ticket is mileage - can the miles for the tickets come from the companion who isn't *G or must it come from the account of the person who has *G?

Would it make a difference to the question if the *G status being used for benefits is from a different airline i.e. not the one being traveled on?

TIA!

If you're on the same reservation, it doesn't matter if its paid or mileage, where the miles come from or which airline the status is from, you'll get the bennies

3x70 for you and everyone on your itin if your A3 number is in the res or if you show your A3 card.

How about when I am flying from YYZ with AC to EWR to TLV with UA. Will I get UA rules 3x70 or AC rules? Thank you.

I just booked my wife and me to Israel on 2 separate confirmations so I could use 2 x $200 gift cards (thanks Amex!). I am United Gold and I booked my wife on Aegean Gold (Star Alliance). For the first time, She was only designated to get 1 bag of 50 lbs, as opposed to 3 bags of 70 lbs each. Did their rules change?

Which airline? Every airline gives a different amount if baggage you can bring.

Sorry, I booked on United. It took awhile, but the page changed and now my wife with Aegean Gold has 3 bags of 70 lb as before. My mistake.

Poss with US. HUCA till you succeed.

The less segments the better, tho.

What's the issue? The RTW routing?

Is it better to book first and then change to more complicated routing? What are the change fees like?

I believe Aeroplan allows Australia-Europe via the USA, so FRA can be your destination and NYC the stop.

Good to know, but I have to avoid AC YQ carriers...

Yeah, but the question was about UA. The others don't even give 3x70.

I got star alliance gold from Turkish air, and I'm flying Swiss JFK-GVA-TLV (2nd leg is operated by Elal)
What benefits do I get (particularly baggage wise)?

AFAIK as long as it's checked all the way through, yes. The return may be an issue, though.

If I have United Gold Status, which Star Alliance international partner is it best to try to get a status match challenge so that I can gain access to United clubs when flying domestically?
a- easiest to get (i.e. easiest challenge offer)
b-lasts the longest/easiest to maintain?
Thanks!
