And of course search by alliance using the code in the OP.

The cheapest rates are for the smaller cities airports not lax like for example cak and IIRC you can only search for 20 @ a time

-1, and the code I provided searches CAK (along with the top 100 airports in the US)

This is what I use to search from dtw to NYC

tol;pit;cak;buf;bos;bwi;mdw; mci;dfw;myr;clt;atl;mco;pbi; bna;mem;sdf;cmh;stl;ind;rsw; ord;fll;syr;sop;rut;acy;roc;lax;btu;eri;cak

Its a mix of random ones and good ones I find coming from NYC roc usually gets me good rates I haven't done a ton of research but it always seemed to me I was getting better rates not at the bigger airports

ok so ITA has changed a bit recently there is now a 2000 mile radius search but there are restrictions with stops. It seems to be 1-5 airports no limit, 6-10 airports 1 stop, 11+ airports non stop...

ITA keeps getting less and less usefull  >:(

Has to do with cache.

In Chrome I have the old version and in Chrome/Incognito I have the new version.
The new version stinks!

Dan I hope u don't have to re do  your PP for the seminar.
Title: Re: ITA Advanced Routing Codes
Post by: Dan on June 21, 2012, 09:50:59 PM
I don't know how unless you have the old version cached.

In the new version you can have only 5 airports to search 2 stops or 10 airports to search 1 stop.
Once you get beyond 10 airports its nonstop only.

Still doable, just more time consuming due to 10 city restriction.

Wow, I was at first bewildered when I did my routine ITA searches yesterday and today.  First I thought it was something wrong with my internet connection.  Then I discover this thread's new posts, and I'm so shocked.  I can't understand why they (Google?) would do that.  I mean, isn't technology supposed to advance, not go behind?  I'm confused.

Is there any sort of substitute out there?  Or is ITA really the only thing avail?

In case anyone needs to search for a specific booking class (was just helping someone book into an SAA booking class to earn 150% on Aegean by paying an extra $250 instead of earning just 50%)

SA / f bc=Q

Where SA is the 2 digit airline code and Q is the desired booking class and only a nonstop flight is desired.

Or

UA+ / f bc=Y

Where UA is the 2 digit airline code and Y is the desired booking class and you want connecting flight options as well.

You could do luggage as he gets his luggage in entry point in the US, however you can't really do hidden cities as a one way to/from London will be expensive.
Best is to look to London and return reg. and maybe add a leg at the end that you won't take. It's not major savings if that's what you are looking for

Hidden city: A to C via B is cheaper than buying A to B. So you buy A to C, and exit at your point of connection B, which is your intended destination.

Does anyone know if looking fares on ITA Matrix via KVS Tool works?
Each time I look up availability using the code provided, it never seems to work for me.

For example, this is the code give by KVS to look if seats are available on this fare on a particular date.

MEL :: /F TG.MEL+BKK.YHOWAU

how do I do this? I always get the reply 'no flights found'.
What am I doing wrong?

PIT-BOS remains and will actually increase from 3x to 4x daily.

International flights are usually more expensive when taking only a one-way which u would have to do for HCT. So unless u only need one way anyway, it wouldn't work.

you can also add a third leg and put in the airports you would continue to, sometimes it brings down the fare

You can't.  I needed help finding any dates where they had a return where you don't need to overnight in Germany.  Turns out it starts in May.

Even if it technically could (ie AA, LY etc), you would get an error because it wouldn't price

You can use bc to specify fare classes. There are generally less biz codes (like 5 or so on average), so just specify those in the "return routing codes" field.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this...

I try to fly to London every month, I usually buy one way tickets for outrageous prices, then I continue on to my destinations (I often decide where, while in London) after spending less than 24 hours in London.

Question, how to i use ITA to search for tickets to international locations but with long stopovers in London?

This would probably save me 1000's of $ per year.

Thanks in advance.

LAS is not an AA hub.  Thus it's only served from a hub.

Im looking in to RT NYC-TLV

So im trying to search return cheap day so I did a one way search

But when routing to all hidden cities through NY it only gives me direct flights to NY and then on to hidden cities  without stops in europe

How do I get it to show me flights like TLV-LHR-JFK-YYC

I believe you need to add destinations within x miles of where you are going and then put "x:nyc" as a routing code.

Sorry I dont understand

I searched one way TLV-List of 150 cities

Now what needs to be in routing code to get it check flights other than direct to NYC-150 cities

ITA software is sometimes often out of date.  The way they sweep for prices has them posting out of date fares.
I like to start there anyway to see who flies and who's likely the cheapest.  Kayak and Orbits and such sometimes have a similar pricing lag.  When you click to book, the price is different than the one they listed.

USD question, yes it's an option at the bottom

Tip: set the "sales city" to NYC rather than setting the "currency" to USD. Chances are you're gonna be buying from an American agent or website, so if you just change the currency, Matrix will show the prices as if you're buying from a TA based in the country of origin of your itinerary (which may be a different price than in the US).

Only on the return. For example, for CLE-NYC, you can use multi-city to search for CLE-NYC, followed by NYC-PIT with a "stop" in CLE.

To get the saving in both directions, you must book two separate tickets - for example, CLE-NYC-BOS, and a separate ticket for NYC-CLE-PIT.

I am so confused with Matrix utilization.  Wife and I want to go to AZ (PHX preferably) via LGB, LAX, or SNA (whichever cheapest) for 4-6 days and open from March 20 to mid-April.  Since I was told that BA isn't available during this time frame (wanted to use my UR), I was going to use my 40k TYP on CitiTYP travel site concurrently with 42.5k Barclay BM for any leftover balance.  Recommended?
Also, I copied and pasted the list of airport codes given on the airport code spots.  Now, do I add all of those other ones listed by Dan in brackets under "routing codes?"  Is it best to do MC, RT, or OW for my situation?  Teach me the ways please.   :)

Do you want anything better than this?

Mar 27   US 506   LAX   7:45AM   PHX   9:17AM   1h 32m   nonstop
Apr 1   UA 6523   PHX   5:30AM   LAX   7:02AM   1h 32m   nonstop
$138.00

I started playing with it actually.  Trial and error is the best way to learn:
Did LGB, LAX, SNA departure to PHX, AZA RT; 3/20 and a month later; 4-6 days; 2 adults and left everything else at default.  I got:
Mar 22   US 593   SNA   6:45AM   PHX   8:15AM   1h 30m   nonstop
Mar 27   US 2819   PHX   7:345AM   LGB   9:07AM   1h 22m   nonstop
$134.00
 ;D
Did I do good? Is it possible to get lower?!  Do you recommend that I use TYP and Barclay BM for this RT?

For flights, 0.0075 pp...sucks actually.  But, if Budget, Alamo, or Avis cerificates, it's 0.01 pp as long as $100 increments (and I will be needing a rental).  Not a good exchange really.  What do you recommend for flight and car rental? Might just use Barclays BM on the flight.  Is it possible to use my 56k AA miles on US or better to just pay?

ITA often has outdated prices.  It's a function of the program they use.

I could be wrong but I believe it depends if its domestic or international.  On domestic flights the bags go to the final destination.  If final destination is international, the bag does not go to the last stop.  If anyone has further information or if I am mistaken please let me know.

My understanding in your case is that since your ticket is fully domestic the luggage goes to the final destination.  You will have to ship it instead.  Based upon my personal experience, USPS Priority Mail is the cheapest and fastest service.

I do not know the cost to ship to MIA.  I have shipped large boxes via USPS Priority Mail to Hawaii and most recently paid about 110 per box inclusive of insurance.  I am not sure if the rate is the same to MIA.  I did check UPS prices and they were double what Priority Mail was.

Forgive me if this is already discussed, how do you use hidden city to fly to a destination that is not available non stop? when you search hidden city, it's trying to navigate through your city to the next, but that only works if there are non stop flights between your origin and desired destination. how do you allow it to have extra stops in the middle?

When i add x:nyc in the advanced routing code will it search flights with a single connection in nyc? can i have it search flights with more than 1 connection for ex, TLV > CDG > NYC > IAD (TLV as departure and IAD in list of destinations)

To search that exact routing put TLV in "Departing from", IAD in "Destination" and put CDG NYC as routing codes.

But what exactly are you trying to do? Find a hidden city to fly TLV > NYC for cheaper?

Then put TLV in the Departing from, paste the top 100 list from the first post in this thread as the Destination, and put NYC as the routing code.

It will only bring up flights with 1 connection point in NYC, would like to search with more than 1

X X in routing code will search for 2+ connections. If you're trying to get to NYC w/ hidden city, search TLV to (top100 list) and routing code X NYC  (The space between them means 2 stops. The X:NYC you were typing before is specifying 1 stop IN NYC rather than 1 stop AND NYC)

Check for the lowest award rate on lan.com
Thanks for responding. I followed your advice, and opened a LAN mileage account. I'm not sure if that is a accurate way to determine availability.
I was looking at flights from NYC to Santiago. Awards for that route start at 70k round trip. The cheapest I found for the return (flying into Miami) was 45k just for that leg (=90k). When I called BA (Singapore), they told me the return was available with Avios. Additionally they seemed to be referring to a direct flight to Miami (although I may have got the wrong impression), which is showing 90km on LAN's site...Am I missing something?

I'm sure there's a way to do this, but for the life of me I can't get it to work:

I need any RT from a number of airport options, on AA, with at least 3 legs.

Is there a code to force a layover on a leg? Using multi city with a long list of codes just gives me a totally random last leg.
Title: Re: ITA Software Advanced Routing Codes

Don't quite understand the question.
Title: Re: ITA Software Advanced Routing Codes
Post by: Something Fishy on March 07, 2017, 11:22:44 AM
Don't quite understand the question.

I need, for example, JFK-BOS-CLT-JFK, but BOS-CLT could be any city pair - basically the cheapest 3-leg AA routing I can find.

A regular search only brings up JFK-BOS-JFK or JFK-CLT-JFK, while a multi-city search brings up JFK-BOS-CLT///LAS-JFK.

In short, I need to find a search that returns the cheapest JFK-XXX-XXX-JFK.

Put in the specific class/es you want.

/f bc=w to search for tickets in the W fare class
/f bc=w|bc=y to search for tickets in the W or Y fare classes

Multi citi- put  / aircraft t:777 in the advanced routing code for the first flight and leave the second one empty (or put N for direct flight, otherwise it'll give you a bunch of connecting flights)

Business idea.

Don't know if it's still the same pricing, but I contacted them a few years ago in the boombox error days, and they said it's $500k to license. Almost all TAs that book in GDS that I know use it as a search tool. I would definitely pay $1000 per year for a subscription, and I'm sure any TA with half decent volume would as well.

I think it does, as it just caused my search to error out (there are no no-stops on that route). But excluding the airport took care of my issue properly.

Lol, very true.
Then how come not one member decided to spare 1 minute of his time to save many minutes of his own and others by doing a simple link to copy format?

I am wondering how to post a list of ITA codes for easy copying. I posted the list of delta airports above to benefit others, and it seems it was unappreciated the way it was posted.  I have been a member since 2010, but i dont spend that much time here, so I dont know the ins and outs of posting tricks.

Itís not only about how you post, itís also what you post. A list of Delta airports isnít neccisary, since you can just paste the list of all the airports and put only show Delta flights in the advanced routing codes.

Exclude basic economy:

c:dl+ / f ~bc=e
c:aa+ / f ~bc=o (Not yet in effect)
c:ua+ / f ~bc=n (Not yet in effect)
add: AS class X

is there a way to search excluding multiple airlines' BE classes?

Any such program which can search in miles vs cash?
That would be truly amazing!
Without the need to check each route individually, specifically in regards to the YQ which is the blockbuster on most flights.

Was looking for RJ 170/175 flights, figured I'd leave the code here after I spent several minutes digging for it:

Code: [Select]
UA / aircraft t:emj
And more aircraft codes:

I think you just have to put them all in except for the two you want to exclude.

If its pricing as a OW, you'll be paying the J fare regardless
