You can't book the suite.

But you can book SQ F for which availability is sparse unless within 14 days of travel.

But for those of you always wanting to go to MLE:

JFK-SIN-MLE in J for 60K on the A380. Better book quick, that last leg is almost never available to UA with availability for 2+.

Just booked CLE-EWR-SIN-MLE in J, RT was 120K+$62.
Dunno if we'll actually take it, but dems the perks of being Plat!

Outbound connection time is 1:30 in EWR and 3:15 in SIN.
Return connection time is 5:15 in SIN and 2:15 in EWR.

Anyone find any better routing/more exciting flights to MLE?

That was quick!

Even in J though I'm shuddering at the thought of the ~19 hour EWR-SIN flight!

Had to pick an arbitrary date out of a hat...went with February.

CLE-EWR, 7:55PM-9:30PM, UA F 735
EWR-SIN 11:00PM-6:30AM+2, SQ J A345
SIN-MLE 9:45AM-11:15AM, SQ J A333

MLE-SIN 11:25PM-7:15AM+1, SQ J A333
SIN-EWR 12:30PM-6:00PM, SQ J A345
EWR-CLE 8:15PM-9:53PM, UA F 73G

Too bad; there was when I initially posted.

Anyway, your arrival in MLE is fine; you just don't wanna get there too late, or else you'd be stuck in MLE proper for the night.

Had to pick an arbitrary date out of a hat...went with February.

Yeah, but you'll unlikely be able to change it to a different date if you don't actually fly in Feb, so I hope you can make that flight. (Obviously you could just refund.)

Never been but that seems like a number that makes sense (5-7 days sens right to me, anything less seems crazy to travel so far, more and I think you'd get bored and the expense stats to add up)

EWR-SIN-MLE =

It's 150K in J using AP, but only 120K in J using UA?
Title: Re: Book Singapore Air with United Milies (Glitch)

Also, can someone tell me why SQ21 on 1/22/13, EWR-SIN in J is 250K RT on AP?

Shouldn't it only be 125K RT?

JFk - FRA Lufthansa

Returning:

The way there if I flew via SIN i would arrive at night which would kill a day, so I took the less appealing route but I arrive in the morning.

I'm headed to AMS later this sumer for a family gathering with Mrs. Elite Flyer

I was able to get to the final page on UA with:

8/7/2012: JFK-FRA: Dep: 8:35pm Arrive 10:45am+1 SQ25 J A380
8/8/2012: FRA-AMS: 12:55 p.m. Arrive LH992 J 737-500

Return:
AMS-EWR: 9:15 Arrive 11:45am.

Unfortunately, it got held but the segment was not ticketed. Now, UA is saying that I am on a "wait list for the flight, and its not too promising." :-(

I think I may have to switch the out-bound to UA through IAD now in order to get the UA BF on the 757-200

I was waitlisted twice and called up and they managed to ticket it right away. Can't hurt to try calling.
And FYI it was a Lufthansa flight booked through UA.

Please help me out as I have never booked a trip like this before.
I put on hold:

1/16- JFK to SIN/ SIN to MLE (on Singapore Airlines)
1/22- MLE to SIN/ SIN to LHR (on Singapore Airlines)
1/28- LHR to EWR (on United)
all in business for the 120k pp.

I am doing the London stopover for my wife.

Is there any way around the fees for the London leg. My taxes came out to $600 or so for the trip and I am assuming its from that leg ??? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

LHR charges high 'luxury' taxes.

I'm still finding good availability on MEL-SIN.
I'm thinking maybe another few thousand FF's like all of us grabbed whatever seats possible, and therefore there is no longer good availability.

Shame, I reticketed it already for UA metal. I will keep a look out for availability on the SQ A-380, which seems to continue to have availability, just not on my dates. The return is impossible because it leaves FRA to early in the morning to connect from AMS, and I do not wish to spend the night prior in FRA.

Well, it seems we may move our trip to Europe 2 days earlier in order to get the SQ a380, and in so doing miss a friend's wedding here. Worth it? :-)

As long as we were going to AMS early, I threw in 3 days in Paris. We are also thinking about doing ZRH or FCO
I will transfer in the UR when I am ready to book. until then, UA allows me to hold the ticket becase I have insufficient miles in my account.

Here's what we have on hold:

Mon., Aug. 6, 2012 | New York, NY (JFK) to Paris, France (CDG)
Depart: 8:35 p.m. Mon., Aug. 6, 2012 New York, NY (JFK)
Arrive: 10:45 a.m. +1 Day Tue., Aug. 7, 2012 Frankfurt, Germany (FRA)
Flight Time: 8 hr 10 mn
Flight: SQ25 Airbus A380-800
Fare Class: Business (I)

Connect time in Frankfurt, Germany (FRA) is 1 hr 20 mn.
Depart: 12:05 p.m. Tue., Aug. 7, 2012 Frankfurt, Germany (FRA)
Arrive:1:15 p.m. Tue., Aug. 7, 2012 Paris, France (CDG)
Flight Time: 1 hr 10 mn
Flight: LH1034
Aircraft: Airbus A319
Fare Class: Business (I)

Fri., Aug. 10, 2012 | Paris, France (CDG) to Amsterdam, Netherlands (AMS)
Depart: 8:50 a.m. Fri., Aug. 10, 2012 Paris, France (CDG)
Arrive: 10:20 a.m. Fri., Aug. 10, 2012 Munich, Germany (MUC)
Flight: LH2227
Operated by Lufthansa Cityline.
Aircraft: E95
Fare Class: Economy (X)

Change Planes. Connect time in Munich, Germany (MUC) is 50 mn.
Depart: 11:10 a.m. Fri., Aug. 10, 2012 Munich, Germany (MUC)
Arrive: 12:45 p.m. Fri., Aug. 10, 2012 Amsterdam, Netherlands (AMS)
Flight: LH2304
Operated by Augsburg Airways (Lufthansa Regional).
Aircraft: E95
Fare Class: Economy (X)

Wed., Aug. 15, 2012 | Amsterdam, Netherlands (AMS) to New York/Newark, NJ (EWR - Liberty)
Depart:9:15 a.m. Wed., Aug. 15, 2012 Amsterdam, Netherlands (AMS)
Arrive: 11:45 a.m.  Wed., Aug. 15, 2012 New York/Newark, NJ (EWR - Liberty)
Travel Time: 7 hr 30 mn
Flight: UA71 Aircraft: Boeing 757-200
Fare Class: United Economy (X)

TOTAL COST: 80K (UA) + $125 p/p
I'm not too crazy about spending nearly 5 hours in economy on regional jets just to get from Paris to Amsterdam. I will likely look for a better routing Being that this is *A, there is no non-stop to AMS from CDG.

I suspect we will be able to tolerate Y on the way home. At least it's a day-time flight.

with singapore they are always available (based on availability). This was never a problem. Transfer from amex rewards. except that their awards are higher and they charge a hefty fee.

The issue has always been that they would not release seats on their A380 and 777ER to partner alliances to book!

135K vs. 120K with UA, not a big deal for a shot at an A380 suite.

How are you getting those numbers?

I see here that US-SYD/MEL is 185K in F:

And, on a 3 cabin plane, I see it being 160K UA here:

If you get an agent to put in the long sell, sure.

Date        Carrier    Flight  From  Depart    To    Arrive    A/C  St  Availability
----------- ---------  ------  ----  --------  ----  --------  ---  --  ------------
19 Oct 2012 SQ         67      BCN   18:15     SIN   13:20 +1  77W  0   FS+  CS+

Still think you can get it via a long sell?

SQ hasn't showed availability during this entire glitch.

FT'ers have reported some long sell successes today.

Yes, but its far from guaranteed. US-SIN in C maybe though.

As I said already, getting a long-sell booked is not easy at all.

Interesting! Booked online.

Guys no need to call, long sell, everything is available online ;)

Are you saying that with Aeroplan if it is available online, it is bookable? I called them earlier tonight regarding a cretain flight and they told me that although they see it in their system (and showing 4 seats available on virtually EVERY route) they can not book it. Even called IT who looked into SQ inventory and said that it is not available on SQ!

Aeroplan won't let me into the booking process as I don't have enough miles, and I am ready to risk 135K amex points on a hunch that it might work.

So, I wonder if this would happen to a ticket I still have on hold from Sunday with UA.

Maybe the earlier ones, but AC will just figure out a way to pay SQ to honor the awards later. Aeroplan is not a mess like United and they're gonna realize how much this is gonna cost them.

At least Westpac make it easy to earn Singapore miles! Unless they start opening it up to *A Partners.

That is correct. But I though you were referring to Business which can be booked with KF but not with other partners.
