Once we're at it, kvish 6 cameras can charge you the toll if you're driving 169kmph, but at 170 they can't see you.

my husband was driving fast (not terribly fast i was in the car with him) and got pulled over and got his license taken away for a YEAR due to speeding. He was pleasantly nice to the cop and this was his first time being stopped. That was NOT a fun year i tell ya... Not sure why they charged him so harshly... but it can happen

What i found amusing and oh so Israeli is the fact that they factor in the 'Practical limit' as well as the legal one. I mean in America you also don't get pulled over for going less than 10 over the limit but its not that official...

What a country, you can get locked up for speeding??!

They took his American license away?

How did they penalize him?
any country will lock you up if you go fast enough

I actually remember doing the same on Coney Island driving in a car with plates from a different state.  By a red light an undercover cop car pulls up and tells me that in the state of N.Y. the speed limit is 30..I said thanks and we drove off  ;D

This was actually more insidious; the cop was waiting at a toll plaza just as the speed limit went down to 30 before my friend had a chance to slow down.

Wow ,this cop must have had a REALLY bad day
most cops have no patience to deal with an American license...
(Or in my case American drivers license + American License plates) don't even bother pulling me over anymore

How strict is the law that only the owner and the spouse is allowed to drive a car brought in from U.S with American plates?

how strict? if the meches police (yes, they do exist) catches someone else driving, theyll seize the car

I knew the law...just wanted to know how strong they really enforce it or if there is any way to get around.  What if regular police catch someone else driving?

Let's not forget that insurance companies don't make their money by paying claims; they make money by denying them. So if a car has US plates when it isn't allowed to, or if the wrong person is driving... they're playing with fire. Better drive veeeeeeeeery carefully.

Sorry..I mightve been unclear. two questions..if meches catches another driver...will they really seize the car on the spot? You replied yes.
Second question...what if regular police..not meches police...catches another driver...what happens?

Regular police don't generally know what to do with a student car and wont enforce the driver & spouce law
However, You can get a temp ishur from meches for a driver who is a blood relative to drive the student car.
