I am looking into getting a robot vacuum. Anyone here have one? Which one and how good of a job does it do?
Thanks
-
Just don't...
Seriously though. I bought an irobot roomba a year and a half ago and it's been accumulating dust. I've used it a dozen times but you have to use it very often; otherwise it will get stuck with large chunks of dust every time you run it and you'll be chasing after it emptying the bag and restarting it... At the time I was hesitating between the roomba (vacuum cleaning) and the scooba (floor washing) but if you really want one now I would go with the floor washing version (if you have hardwood, marble, tile, etc..)

I would be using it for light cleaning, like after dinner mess in the kitchen. Not for major cleaning... is it good enough for that?

If u run it often then u r fine it does a pretty decent job, but you should definitely empty the trash slot after each 1-2 uses.

There was some discussion about this recently

So far I'm loving it! I put it on Friday morning and coming home to a vacuumed house before Shabbos is incredible. The mopping part is only so so but I knew that going in. Yet, I just got the fancy mopping add-on so well see how that goes.

Thanks! How long do you already have it?
Any other robot vacuum owners here with recommendations?

Recently bought a refurbished Roomba 980 ($300 on eBay), after having a Roomba 860 for many years. Happy with both of them.

We have a Roomba 690 and very unhappy. Noisy like a tractor and no navigation pattern whatsoever. (We then bought a Dyson v10 and now there's life before the dyson and life after the dyson)

you cant expact much with these robots, they brush off the dust but you cant expect it to replace your cleaning help
-
Well do they speak English?

I have an ecovacs for my office. It works very well for crumbs and dirt on the vinyl floor. I have the one with the mop feature which is okay but not great. It gets off marks from water but not any real spill. At the end of the day I don't need to hire a cleaning crew or sweep or even mop as long as I spot clean spills and drips.

That depends on you and how you use them. With lots of kids and toys on the floor it may not be practical. Bit on the other hand it may be a good way to get you to pick them all up everyday.
As for actual cleaning they can do a pretty good job. (Sweeping not mopping)

Has anyone compared vacuums that also mop with separate robot mops?

I haven't tested it, but from my research neither seem worth it. It's a nice added have.

Not sure an office can be compared to house with kids...
Just curious if you’re happy with it why not get one for your home?

I never saw a robot vacuum in action, but I know someone that regretted buying one

When we bought one from Costco for my house my wife insisted that we return it. It became a stepstool and wasn't helpful in requiring less sweeping/vacuuming.

See my previous post (https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=25129.msg2373355#msg2373355)for the one that I have for about a month already. I got the "pro (https://www.ecovacs.com/us/deebot-winbot-accessories/OZMO-Pro)" mopping add on last week.
The pros:
- It's the closest thing to a real mop that I've seen so far. It actually scrubs the floor.
It actually makes the floor wet, on the standard mopping piece that comes with the robot, even on max flow it's barely a trickle, with this I left it on max flow and the floor was noticeably wet.
The cons:
- Since the pad is actually vibrating vigorously it's much, much louder
It says you can only use the disposable pads which means you'll have to keep buying them but I used the washable one and I think it was fine
-

I asked him again, he said that originally he got the roomba and wasn't happy at all with the navigation, he later got the ecovacs deebot, and he's satisfied with the job it does, both of them are over a year old they probably have better models today as technology keeps on advancing
-
I have the deebot, the navigation is mesmerizing. It’s almost become a family activity, watching how it moves around, avoiding some things entirely and slowly creeping up on others because it can’t quite tell what it is but it knows there is something there.

Assuming you'd need one with a mop feature

You likely won't get a definite answer on this one, but an encouragement to refrain.
-

Assuming that says Shabbos, I can see an issue when you'd want to interfere as they easily get stuck.

Not a recommendation, just a deal alert: https://www.dansdeals.com/shopping-deals/amazon/today-kyvol-cybovac-e20-robot-vacuum-cleaner-115-shipped-amazon/

I have been told that since it is not yet common in every home it would not be permitted to use on shabbos (same as it has been with air-conditions before it became common)

Got this in private

Any good deals now?

wow so funny this thread resurfaced now. i just bought a friend of mine a roomba 692. gonna see if it turns out good. cost 179 on ebay. says its good for hard floors and high pile carpet
-
I'm looking for something specifically for only hardwood floors. I saw the roborock s6 pure for about $380. I'm wondering if there are any other deals out

I didn't end up buying, but when I was researching about Robovacs I found the Roboroc to be topnotch, but heard negative things on the pure. I don't recall specifics.
