I have my annual Delta Companion ticket which I am unable to use this year. It expires 08/31/13 (book and travel by then).
The ticket is for two people, you pay the price of one ticket and just the taxes of the companion ticket (generally $40 or less). Its only available for economy class (L,U,T class), anywhere within the US.
$300.00 asking price.

If you're referring to Delta companion tickets, then it may not be worthwhile, unless you are the recipient of the vouchers from the company: since you have to buy the actual voucher, + pay tax ($20+ for the companion) plus make it worthwhile for not receiving miles... if your ticket was $400+ that would be a different story....

It is the Platinum card companion certificate, yes. Apologies--there is tax on I guess the "Free" ticket, according to this:
"government taxes and fees ranging from $28.20 to $69.20 for itineraries with two to four flight segments is required."

The problem with these certificates is that they are very restrictive-- only r/t, no connection, only certain fare classes, no upgrading, loss upon cancellation, etc..-- that many times it makes more sense to simply purchase two tickets (albeit not necessarily on DL).

Not sure if it would work since the rules say: Travel for Companion certificate must be booked and completed by the date on the front of certificate.
But even if it did, it would be costly: If the primary ticket and Companion ticket are changed after issuance, subject to the fare rules of the primary ticket, there will be a $200 administrative service charge for each of the primary ticket and the Companion ticket, plus a charge for the fare difference of the primary ticket.

These are transferrable?
I've seen a few replies saying these are transferable, but from the T&C: "Primary Ticket and Companion ticket must be purchased with your Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express." I don't know if this means it has to be booked with any Delta SkyMiles CC or the companion holder's CC, and I don't know if it's strictly enforced. Just providing some more info.

If I'm not mistaken, a delta branded amex has to be used to pay for the reservation. So the owner can book it with his/her card OR the purchaser of the code can pay for it if they have a delta amex.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hello,
I purchased a companion ticket from someone and I not able to use the code they provided. I called delta and they are stating that I would need to book the ticket through the originating skymiles account.
Has anyone got any advice on how to proceed once you have the companion code?
Any help would be appreciated. I've searched through the forums and I am not seeing a whole lot about actually using the companion certificate.

I have sold one before elsewhere, and my customer told me that he could not use it. After I talked with Delta phone operator, she told me that the customer can use it if the customer can tell the phone operator my full name, address, delta sky mile account number, etc. I guess the seller is obligated to let the customer know the seller's personal info to complete the flight booking with the certificate. Hope this info helps you.
