For those of you who are tempted to try the "expired Amex" trick to gain entry, I can confirm that it will not work.   Used wife's Biz plat to get in with success, however.

Visited twice.  Second time it was overrun with loads of people--not sustainable, IMO, to have that many people with unlimited access to top shelf liquor

Short layover in LAS today.
Wow! This lounge is top-notch. Really makes other airline lounges look like bus stops.

NEW: Your complimentary access to The Centurion(SM) Lounge

It came with a entire email about the lounge. The funny thing is that I have Amex Gold.

Anything I can do about this (to get access)?

I visited the centurion lounge in LAS yesterday, So let me share my experience.

1) You can't enter with a canceled platinum card, As they swipe your card at the front desk to see if it's active, i gave my canceled card at the front desk and they told me right away sorry your card is canceled, But i was lucky enough as i applied for a new platinum  4 days ago, And when i turned around to leave the lounge they called me back saying that they see i was approved for a new card 2 days ago, And they will let me enter even tough i have not received my new card yet. and the rep couldn't get over the amount of canceled platinum cards i have on my account ;D

2) they have a full kosher menu always in stock no need to reserve   right away when i entered i had a friendly chef walking over to me without even asking, asking me if i would like a kosher meal and they had the following main dishes served with 2 sides of Mashed potatoes and cooked vegetables a roll and 2 pastries as a desert.
Mini roast
Schnitzel
Grilled chicken
Baked Salmon
I chose the mini roast and it was fresh hot and delicious. the meals are catered by Haifa kosher restaurant in Las Vegas.

Overall the lounge is beyond beautiful, alot of private spaces with conference rooms, and brand new beautiful designed private showers. A fully stocked complimentary bar (i emptied the whole Glenlivet 21 and they apologized for not having more for the night  :D)
They have a very helpful service desk as well, They helped me with switching seats and tried to upgrade me to business but they got stuck in the middle since the flight started boarding already.

How many visitors can a plat member bring in the lounge at a time? I just got a PRG and BGR and I assume that I will get the upgrade email to plat, but I wonder about being able to enjoy with others. Don't know the details yet. Any insight?

i was there again last week ( i ordered in advance - didnt know they have stock!) but i did not know their warming/cooking  so i ordered a tuna sandwich and a pastrami cold cut sandwich

very impressed again - not to mention the blue label/ double black (smokey) not listed on the menu

the front desk is not the "regular welcome"
they are actually trained reps for amex-
you can discuss anything with them regarding your account

Yes. You can ask the TSA agents by the exit to open the transfer door for you. You can go through and catch the train without having to reclear security. Do the same thing on the way back.

LAS has 10x the amount of requests I'm sure
Definitely true, also likely the owner of Haifa was connected somehow.

Nah, they're saving a fortune not paying for AA/CO/US visits anyway.

I'll take your word for it

It will probably be good for Amex as the annual fees are so profitable. They should make a shteibel though

Their rent is probably much higher than the airlines are paying so I'm not sure you're right.

In DFW AA was complaining that AMEX was getting lower rent for their club per sq ft than AA.
AMEX was paying out massive sums for lounge visits.  I guarantee that went way down and will go down ever more when DL stops taking guests.

If that's true, why didnt they built their own lounges 10 years ago like they do in other countries?
In DFW AA was complaining that AMEX was getting lower rent for their club per sq ft than AA.

Sounds like theyre arguing a technicality, not that the actual cost was really lower. Unless airport charges airlines more because their necessity is greater.

Because it was easier to punt it off.  Now that the airlines are locked up with other banks (and AMEX not even able to control Delta) it was time to build it out on their own.

I fully expect LGA will have KSMLs on hand and odds are that more people will get Plats because of that.

Is it worth it to have such an expensive lounge in a domestic only airport? I would say International flights are the ones that people are early too or have connection where lounges come in early. Domestic flights are alot of business travelers or families traveling and getting to the airport a few mins before flight. I mean who has time to hang out in a lounge on every hop to DC, MIA or CHI?

Just visited the lounge.  It was great!

Tips: they won't reserve a meal for you and it takes 45 minutes to prepare (this is not exaggerated)  so beware with a short layover.  They  offer  salmon,  chicken  and beef  option.  Just ask  for them  at check in.

Please be courteous, they don't have to offer this service but they do and its awesome.  Enjoy  :)

A landside lounge is useless.

Having a lounge ‘airside’ before security means having to leave the lounge earlier for your flight, though. But security has never been bad for me at LaGuardia — the different terminals and piers have helped ensure that. And American Express Platinum and Centurion cardholders get Global Entry or PreCheck signup fees rebated. Either gets you PreCheck access if you qualify, and should further reduce wait time.

They’re planning to add a screen showing security wait times near the entry to the lounge, so that will help reassure guests as well.

Yeah, but I would never arrive before I need to. If I show up to the airport 30-45 minutes before departure, I will never go to an airside lounge. Only useful if you show up two hours early. But why would you do that?

Anyone have better suggestions for kosher b'fast (cereal/milk is fine for us) at McCarran? I've got an AmEx Plat- what other cards would get us a lounge admission at LAS?

If you have the PP that came with the Amex Plat card than you can go into "The Club at LAS" they have locations in both terminals.
