Title: Citi Executive AAdvantage Credit Card
Post by: Hamavin on April 05, 2013, 12:33:49 AM
Has anyone heard or seen any 50k offers on the citi executive card? are the perks worth the $450? can you cancel after 2 months? can you get accepted even if you have other citi cards?

Still 50k on Citi mobile site.

Interesting that it still says "the only card with admirals club membership", doesn't the Citi prestige also have this?

The prestige gives admirals club access when flying on aa or us; where's the membership from the exec card allows you to use the lounge even when not flying aa or us.

This is a decent deal! Do supplementary card holders get lounge access as well? can you add and cancel with refund like amex?

You have to pay the full AF which is $450. When they had the 100k deal, there was a $200 statement credit to offset the AF. So, not such a great deal IMO.

Correct, didn't know they stopped it, just chatted with them, no statement credit this time.

Maybe it'll be offered by citi themselves soon with statement credit..

Wouldn't canceling within a certain timeframe get the fee refunded?

That's what I thought. I just wondered if maybe something was different here because people were making a big deal about the fee. So how many days from the fee posting do we have to cancel, 60, 37, something else?

The $450 AF has kicked in for both me and my wife. I also have the Platinum AAdvantage ($95 AF). Wife does not.
Would like to close my executive card and move over the credit line to my other AAdvantage (Platinum) card. Sent a Secure Message they responded they can't move credit lines from one card to another.. Called in the number in the back of the card and was told that I can indeed move the credit line from the executive to the platinum card but $5k credit line will have to stay on the exec card before I can close it.. AND there will be full credit pull before moving over the credit line.. Even though this is just move of credit lines and not an increase request.. Don't know what to do.. Wanted my wife to apply for the platinum too and then move her credit line but if I have to leave out 5k (that has to remain on the exec b4 closing it) and get a hard inquiry.. That's too much for us..

Is this a grey area? Anyone with recent experience in this scenario?
Thanks in advance!

I would just let the credit line go, citi loves ton give credit lines so next time you want to sign up it shouldn't be an issue.

Iirc when you deal with recon they can close the executive card and move over the credit line for you otherwise it's a pull or they don't do it, ( i don't remember which)

Things have changed since then.
Citi has implemented a "18 month" rule in their apps.
You can not change the statement date on the Executive card until after your AF hits.

Can someone reassure me why I am about to pay a nonrefundable $450 without even getting a 2x$250 credit back?  We already have Prestige and AMEX plat.  2x50k offers on other cards will give 100k with $0 or $95/yr (and one extra pull).   What am I missing?

Just got hit with AF from the last of my 100k bonus cards from last summer.
I had canceled the rest but wanted to keep this one open for the lounge access.
I called South Dakota and got a very nice retention offer -- $50 statement credit for every month of the next 7 months in which I spend $1500.

Of course, the MS will probably end up costing me me $125 of that $350, so the retention offer is really like paying $450 up front in order to get lounge access, $225 in statement credits and 10.5k miles.

There's been a lot of discussion in regards to when the AF posts to the account etc. Here's my data point.
On my card I put a few small purchases on the card, and the af didn't post on my first billing cycle.
On my wife's card, the first bill closed with no activity on the card, and the af did post to the card.
The only reason I can think of, is that I did change my billing cycle on my card to a later date, but the bill did close on the original date it was set too. I don't know if this is the norm for citi, but that's that.

Most citi cards work like that. The prestige and executive $450 cards are the exception IIRC, 37 days.

approved! when I cancel via SM, do I move the CL over or just drop it? Is there a chiluk between Cit, vs chase, amex? or is it the old machlokes about whether its easier to get approved with less credit? data point- I applied and it said I had to call, when I called the rep said I see you have 33,000 of credit between your 3 cards, and then said so I can approve you for another 11,000, its mashma that if I had more credit it would have been harder to get approved

Even worse
Damn Citi fraud. Would of had my spending done by first statement if not for them
It's really not a big deal. The AF posts a day before your 1st statement closes, you can complete the spend before the 2nd statement and still have 6 days to get the AF refunded.
+1
Worked for me. Just do that and you'll still have 2-3 extra days. You'll be fine.

NOOO! I was about to attempt getting the Exec with the hack linked. I hadn't had a chance to do it in October. I wanted to meet the min spend by funding a new citi gold account too :(.
Ft wiki still has active 75k links

Those links contain the 18 month language.

Miles will post 24-48 hours after your next statement closes. You have 37 days from when the AF was billed (which was 11/12)

When closing my account to get back the AF, I was able to transfer my entire CL besides for $5k.
The agent thought that it was because the card has a minimum $5k line to open, so it couldn't be transferred out.
Anyone else have this experience?

You are lucky you were able to transfer some of your CL, not so easy with Citi.

The CSR offered to, but I politely declined.
He said that this is the max I can transfer without a HP.

1. yes i do
2. Even if i didnt, its the same price as renewing an Admirals club membership for a PLT which is quite useful for someone who travels as much as i do
3. There are other benefits associated with the card

I was given $450 retention bonus if I spent $5k a month x 3. The bonus just posted. I wasn't anywhere close to when the AF was due but passed the 90 day refund after the initial sign up. I told them I had gotten the Prestige and liked its benefits better and didn't think I needed both cards. He convinced me otherwise.

I got the Citi Exec card but when looking at my credit pulls I noticed that I had 2 pulls for this card, one on 8/27 from CBNA on Experian and another on 8/28 CITIBANK NA on Equifax.
Only one Citi card is listed on my CR and I only applied for the one card. Can I contest one of these credit inquiries or am I stuck with 2 pulls? (FYI none of the 3 are frozen)

Citi is known for pulling both EX and EQ, always freeze EX before applying with Citi. Disputing pulls isn't easy.

Would complaint to AA as they should honor the benefit. Did you have the card opened at least 7 days prior to the travel date?

"For benefit to apply, the CitiŽ / AAdvantageŽ account must be open 7 days prior to air travel, and reservation must include the primary cardmember's American Airlines AAdvantageŽ number 7 days prior to air travel."
