Tickets in israel are not due till 3 months from when u get them .
Once the due date passes and they realize it has not bin paid they start reviewing info on the car tom contact the owner which in this case is the rental agency ...

Therefore to be sage cancel your cards every 6 months son they can not charge your card ..., if it comes down to it

At least here you get to comfort yourself with such thoughts while in america you just think wtf why does the government get to take my moneyOn a serious note, I recall learning some of the sugya about tzedaka a few yrs back, and there was a shita that said that you can estimate how much of your taxes go towards welfare, and offset your tzedaka with it. (But I could be completely off base)

2)Machine eats your money and noting prints 3) No working machine within 5 block radius 4) THe meter person giving me ticket even though he can see be by the muni meter, I can go on and on...

Also if anyone else has as answer to what I shall/can do? I received a parking ticket today on a sixt car for 100 shekel in tzfat. While I would would love not to pay it, my main concern is the loads of money sixt officially charges if you get a ticket.

"the Jerusalem municipality has delegated Isaac Eilat law offices and their united states agent cedar financial to carry out the collection procedure for the above references parking violation.....if you dont notify this office within 30 days disputing this claim, this office will assume the debt is valid and will mail you a cipy of the judgement...." @$&!i have received this letter over 2 years ago, besides for a bunch of harrasing phone calls there isnt much they could do to force me to pay

The charge the $17 as a "service fee" for the trouble of having to write a letter to the municipality declaring that it was a dumb tourist during a rental who scored the ticket, and not someone who they can actually go after.

The return address is to cedar Financial po box 8986 calabasas CA. Looking on Google it looks like a legit agency and they do international debt collections. I guess the real question here is can they do anything that will effect my credit score?

I also got a $13 charge form Thrifty on my CC last week, for processing this ticket.
Anyone ever got this?

They just bark, I had 2 tickets , one parking in Ein Gedi and the other from a traffic light camera, they sent to my Jerusalem address and then through an Israeli collection agency operating in the US, that was 2 years ago , I never responded.
Can I presume that it won't affect my credit if I don't pay? If there's a slight risk then I would certainly pay the 56 dollar fine.

It said that Eilat send me many letters (didn't get any) and now it's been referred to their American agent.seems like everyone I know is getting these notices from the law offices of issac Eilat!!

simple. because you have 90 days to pay the ticket. eldan wont even receive a notice before then, and by then ,they don't have your credit card anymore, once they close the rental contract.
So why'd I waste a shekel? :)
Also, @hocker claims Avis bills the credit card.

I would be surprised if a penny of what they charge you gets forwarded to the city.)
I try to rent on a spare card, and report it as lost right after the rental. I usually have a new (Chase) card within 72-96 hours of it being reported lost and a new card being overnighted.
I have a rental that I didn't get around to cancelling card (I don't think I even got any tickets on that rental) and months later I noticed that there were a bunch of charges ranging from $20-$100 on the card from the rental agency. As long as they have your active card, they feel free to take money from you when they're in the mood.

That's the case with most car rentals here.
Not charging you doesn't mean they can't.
