Title: NYC Amber Alert for Missing Child
Post by: PlatinumGuy on July 17, 2013, 03:55:31 AM
So my phone just rang like crazy. Apparently a 7mo kid was 'kidnapped' by his non custodial mother.

I find it annoying. I left my phone on for a potential emergency and this wouldve woken me up. What business does the government have waking everyone for this?

Why is the city of NY focusing more on this child then on so many other children who are missing?

This child left with his mother in middle of the day it didn’t even happen in middle of the night. Which makes the question why ring the phone in middle of the night? Even by Laibi Klatzki the Shomrim members waited for their mass phone call till 6 am.

Amber alerts are for missing children only. That's why it's called "Amber"

My Q10 has this fire alarm sound, which was really scary this night. Now all alerts are turned OFF.

I got on a flight once and about 20 iPhones went off with an alert all at the same time.  So loud.

On the GNex it's settings>More>Emergency Alerts.
Once there there are options to get alerts for Extreme threats, severe threats, and amber alerts.

Thanks, I couldn't find it, I'm curious though if only New Yorkers got this amber today?

Why would they send it to people out of the area?

+1
That and the fact that my wife got a chain mail saying that the AMBER alert was really a virus caused her quite a panic.
