I think Price chopper may be the only one, although im not 100% sure. You can also go to the co-op by the yeshiva there for food.

Thanks

2)Is Co-op open late?

There was a sign in the shul there a few weeks ago that there is some kind of takeout in one of the stores there now. Sounded like deli sandwiches. And there is krispy kreme. And hench's grandmother

Doesn't sound like it. Let us know how it is

Was very nice. Walk to shul is 20 minutes uphill. Front of hotel is not within Eruv, only back entrance.

Any updates on shuls in scranton since last summer?

What's your question exactly? Scranton has an awsome community. Was there for shabbos a few months ago. A DO? Probably not enough DDFers.

Go buy a danish in the coop. Or if you eat cholov stam go to krispy kream in Clark summit. The 15 min drive is worth it. It has a local rabbi hashkacha but its good.
-
There is also a Rita's under hashgacha.

Reminds me of this....

I'm pretty sure wilkes barre (Kingston) has some kind of deli...

Nope. Much smaller community than Scranton

Check out JewishScranton.Org there is none

The co-op in the Yeshiva has a lot of kosher food.

Unless you're flying in from Baghdad, you'll likely do better just packing yourself a tuna fish sandwich.
Seriously, what is up with dansdeals and the inability to go for more than 2.5 hours without a kosher restaurant and full service supermarket? When the zombie apocalypse comes, don't expect me to share with you. Maybe I'll sell my deli sandwiches for a few hundred dollars each and call it a restaurant.
-
So the rumor about Reserve Cut opening there wasn't true?
-
Alol

it's not a DansDeals thing, just a New York thing.

Sorry for jumping on you. Here's a few constructive ideas:
1. Bring disposable grills (cost about 3-4 dollars) and hot dogs. Or hamburger meat. In a cooler. Or salmon.
2. Bring a Foreman, and do any of the above.
3. Bring deli meat and bread. Or buy fresh bread in National Bakery. Or I'm betting Price Chopper has some kosher deli, but confirm.
4. Bring a sandwich maker, bread, and cheese.

There has been an attempt or two at that, AFAIK that's long dead.

Check out Ricketts Glen State Park, about 45-60 minutes away - a little-known treasure with about 20 waterfalls over the course of a fairly flat and easy 3-4 mile hike.

Anyone been to the Hilton recently for shabbos? Is everything electronic? Are there nice grounds to walk around on shabbos or a nice park?
-
Never stayed at Hilton, we stay across the street at Radisson using Club Carlson points. The area is pretty urban and not at all what I'd consider nice grounds for a Shabbos walk. There may be a park you could walk to, check Google Maps.

Thanks

Debating between the Four Points and Hilton for Shabbos. I can stay in the Four Points for 3000 Points a night vs $250.00 per night in the Hilton.

Never been in the Hilton, so I can't give an opinion

Thinking of going to Scranton for a couple of days next week. Any current information on Minyanim, kosher food and attractions in the area (children range in age from 15-2) would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Bike riding alongside the Lehigh River.

Any good bike routes (anything between 15 and 50 miles) in or near Scranton or Honesdale? I usually go biking in the Catskills on my way up Friday mornings but b/c of Woodstock weekend, I think I'm going to go thru Scranton instead.
Also, I need to pick up some kosher wine. Anyplace not too far off of the 81?
TIA

No experience biking in Scranton, but it is VERY hilly. Highly doubt you'll find a nice stretch of road.
-
Lehigh River Gorge trail, mostly downgrade with a shuttle to take you to the starting point. Not sure exact location, though. Did it years ago. About an hour from Scranton according to Google Maps.
