Title: Amazon
Post by: HowYaDoin on February 25, 2014, 04:07:03 PM
is there really no amazon thread?

What does it mean when one seller is 50% cheaper then the rest of the sellers. He has 6000 ratings and 91% percent positive feedback

eta: the item im referring to is a parrot bluetooth selling for $190 by everyone else and $90 by this guy

I would say its like ebay. lots of people have high feedback but still sometimes sell fake merchandise. read through the negative comments and try see how legit the seller is.

I never had a bad CS experience with Amazon until tonight. Here's what happened:

A few weeks ago I got the Amazon Fresh trial. On Friday I noticed that I got charged 300 dollars for the Fresh membership (I was never told the free trial was about to expire, but that's not what I'm angry about), I quickly went to Amazon and downgraded my Fresh membership to a regular Prime membership. Looking on the side of the screen I noticed that it said my membership was set to renew next year November 20th instead of this coming up March. It also said I was charged $99 on November 20th 2015 (Friday's date).

I immediately contacted them to complain about this, my membership renewal wasn't due until March, why was I bring charged now? The guy on the phone sounded like he didn't take understand what I wanted but he said he'll issue a refund for the $99 membership fee.

Motzey Shabbos I get an email from one of the guys I share my Prime with asking why he was removed from the Prime. I went to check and lo and behold the rep didn't just refund the membership fee, he cancelled the Prime!

I right away got on the phone and the incompetent rep couldn't figure out what I wanted, she kept insisting that my membership started November 20th and that I got refunded for it and that if I want I can start a new membership now for 99 dollars.

As much as I tried explaining to her that I also had a membership that started in March and should have never been cancelled she kept insisting that my membership started November 20th and that there was no membership before that.

I finally hung up on her and decided to try chat instead. At the same time my wife got on the phone with a different rep. We were both going in circles with our respective reps for half an hour until finally the rep I was chatting with figured out what I was saying and offered a refund for the 4 months of unused Prime.

The problem now is that I have to get a new membership now and that means that the people I was sharing it with were bumped off, and with Amazon's new policy I can't bring them back on so now I'm stuck paying for Prime myself >:(

And for all this trouble all I got was $5 credit...

[/rant]

Last week they offered me $5 compensation for something. I was in an unusually greedy mood so I asked them for $10.
Outcome: request granted.

That's not what I'm upset about. What I'm mostly pissed off on is the fact that I lost my grandfathered ability of sharing my Prime.

The price of Prime just jumped from $20 to $99...

Wow...Ive had the total opposite experience....I got the AmazonFresh trial....over the month I've ordered around $150 (all unattended) groceries...(if you order frozen foods it includes dry ice to keep it cold which is neat)...each time I had a minor issue...

I"m very picky,...example : 1st order - The blueberries were a little unripe , 2nd order (which included a bunch of kosher meat)....I had some unripe bananas.

I used the AmazonFresh dedicated customer service (Fun Fact: For the whole NY there are 20 Reps for Fresh --- when I called I coincidently got in contact with the same person who I spoke to in the past and emailed...so I was curious how that was possible.... turns out its a 1/20 chance).

Anyhow...they automaticity refunded me everything....I told them it was just the blueberries but they still gave me a full refund on both orders. (Which I was happy to take). Just hope they dont penalise anyone (driver etc...)

They said :

"Please feel free to enjoy, donate or throw out all the food"...

Anyhow after I got the $300 charge...I asked them to cancel, they canceled...im actually on a student (free 6month) - in college now so I have a .edu -- prime -- which keeps getting extended due to them offering me free months of prime every other day when I have a issue....

---- they "downgraded" me to the 99$ but I told them to cancel and put me back at the $49 and they did.

I believe I also w/ a student account have "prime additional user" capabilities though im not sure...either way I dont have anyone listed so that issue didn't occur.

I know this wasn't really your issue but my major pros for Amazon Fresh -- seamless delivery (20 Poland spring gallon jugs to my door)...no backbreaking work. (though there's peapod and a bunch of other shopping services)

So, my major pro is Amazons customer service....especially regarding refunding on the food.

Sorry if this sounds like a testomonial haha

Anyone else realize that lately Amazon has been shipping more and more with USPS as opposed to UPS? Are they changing over their primary carrier?
I think that they sort & ship the items themselves (or some other company), & they only use the USPS for the 'last mile delivery'.

As seen from the tracking it is always 'departed shipping partner facility etc., only the day of  the delivery it gets handed over to the post office as you will see the acceptance of the package to the USPS system is at your local post office. Also you can see that even if your Amazon package started out in California, the last destination before getting accepted by the USPS is in Avenel, NJ as this is the closest Amazon sorting facility to where I live.

(this all is said for me that lives in Brooklyn 11219, for those living in other places this could be different)

That's what I was used to seeing (though many times, UPS would just end up delivering it themselves). Lately though, it's USPS the whole way through.

From Amazon's fulfilment centers?
At which point of the tracking does it say "acceptance"?

The tracking # that Amazon gives me is USPS. No UPS tracking # at all. And I can tell from tracking history that it's coming with USPS straight from them.

Yep, but it's only giving me the option to get the gift card. My prime is expiring in a week, and I'm nervous that if it expires, and I reapply, I'll get the new system, which I don't want.

cant say for sure but its probably delayed handling time because of the holiday weekend

and/or its in a fulfillment center that is far away from your main address

I dont know if this applies to Amazon but New Years Eve is considered a semii holiday for UPS they dont pick up ground shipments

As an aside, it was an item that anyways has free returns. But if I did get a defective one, I'd want to get a new one.

You could ask amazon to have the seller contact you.
(Or for the seller's email address)

Found it! I went to the item's page and from there I got to the seller's page, where I was able to send him an email through amazon.

Thanks!

I've had sellers ignore my emails until I contacted amazon directly. Then they contacted me immediately.

Well I can always return the item as Defective, which it is. I just think maybe I should give him a chance first.

For some people, yes.

You're like the 5th person I saw quoting this KH tweet.
It's one report about one buyer out of hundreds of millions of buyers.

And it's not even something that hasn't happened before.

Unless there's a sudden wave of shutdowns there's really nothing to discuss.

I know many people who just buy away, even if they're not sure whether they need those items, and then they return 60-70% of what they bought. Many times they can buy the same item in a few sizes and/or colors and then return all except for one, rather than doing basic research as to which size they actually need. My point is, that such people are the ones who make this "wave of shutdowns" as you call it. Once the wave goes on even those who don't abuse the system to that extent lose out. Similar to any good going signup bonus or churning option.

All I can say is "prove it". 10% return rate is pretty low, but Amazon isn't completely stupid.
The customer can be getting amazon to give price adjustments, returns expensive products used and damaged,
constantly complains for credits, and etc. The customer can be far more unprofitable than a customer who buys 10 items at a time and returns 7 of them (where all Amazon loses is marginal shipping and return shipping costs).

All I've seen is abusers get shut down. What I'm waiting for is a bunch (or even a few) of customers who've never abused Amazon get shutdown for seemingly nothing. When that happens we can start posting doomsday warnings.

Not worth your time I think.. If you do try and succeed please report back. I wonder if it's a strict policy (per chat below) or depends on CSR mood.

This is a partial copy of my recent chat for 3 items that had a big increase. They would not honor the lower price from a day before.

Amazon Rep: I'm sure it's disappointing to see an increase in the price of the item you were planning to purchase. Our prices regularly change (we constantly receive new data from our suppliers) and the price you saw was the lowest price we were able to offer at the time.

Then I asked about price matching as seen for lower price on ebay

Amazon Rep: I'm sorry for any misunderstanding.
With the exception of TVs and cell phones with service, Amazon.com doesn't offer a price match guarantee. We do consistently work toward maintaining competitive prices on everything we carry.
Because the marketplace is constantly changing and we strive to offer the lowest price, you'll see some fluctuations in our prices over time.

I generally fine Amazon's chat reps to be useless, regardless of what the issue is. Phone reps seem to be much more understanding. They may not price match but you may got some other form of compensation.

Q: Is it better (or worse) for the seller if i just refuse the shipment rather than mailing it back?

Diapers count towards the 5 items but do not get the 15% discount.
They get the regular amazon family 20% discount, or 5% without amazon family, regardless of the amount of S & S items that month.

Sometimes when I'm filtering products on amazon, if I ask for only "same day" items, I still see some that are 2 day.

IME you only get free returns if it says "free returns" next to where it says that it's eligible for Prime. CMIIW

I had a shipment due to arrive yesterday by 8PM. I chatted with them that it didn't come yet and they instantly credited me with a $10 (+ tax, total $10.88) refund for a ~$70 item. They did it without a blink.

P.S. It arrived first thing this morning.

I hope that's not some new policy. The rep tried to refund & the system wouldn't let her. The supervisor said that's a policy but she overrode it as a one-time exception.

so the way it's coded by them is as a coupon, And a coupon you don't get back as it's not money,
I had the same issue 2ws (could have happened more times that I don't know of) first time was on the phone too long, then wen I was on hold, I chatted, told them the whole issue, 30 seconds later they gave me a new promotion credit,
Another time they cancelled the order, and they did not want to do anything about it, till I 'complained about the service I'm getting' then he was able to (I guess bc I complained) give me $5 (not as much as I lost) I gave up after that...
Title: Re: Amazon

The rep I had spoke to originally had told me to return it & I'd get refunded. He probably didn't see the payment method.

A few questions related to the strictness of amazon to customers that are abusing their system:

1) how many return do they allow per account before closing it? Does it work on percentage or just a set amount? Per year or per account?

2) calling in about every order that was delayed after their promised delivery day to get another month of prime. Do they close accounts for it?

3) ordering add-on items with the PG25GM (or something like that...), will that do anything about it?

4) I'm on a grandfathered shared prime account, so I get only %5 off for pampers. Paying prime accounts currently get %20 off pampers. Will they do anything if I order pampers from the paying prime account with the same CC & address as the second amazon acct?

5) constantly ordering price mistakes?

And much more..

If they're all going to the same warehouse you can put them all into the same box.
Just make sure to include all the barcodes from the return labels so they can pull up your information.

Right. I'd spend 40 cents but those items are not Free One Day (at least the bunch I checked)

ETA: Found these dividers:
Amazon.com : Avery Big Tab Insertable Extra Wide Dividers, 8 Clear Tabs, 1 Set (11223) : Binder Index Dividers : Office Products (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00006IBW7/?tag=cl03f-20&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER)

Reminds me to share this interesting reddit comment (he actually has a few there) from the creator of PriceZombie (like Keepa and CCC, but shut down).
https://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/6pgkd9/amazon_jacked_up_prime_day_prices_misleading/dkpf11w/

Explains why Keepa has better data than CCC

Looks like CCC is missing a lot of data that Keepa has.

CCC shows $699 but with a serrated line because it went OOS a few weeks ago, it was actually selling for higher through 3p sellers. Keepa reflects this better. Same for the Acer screen, Keepa shows it dropped from $112 a few days ago, CCC is missing that and the lightning deal completely.

I don't have any more info on this.

I meant old as in the old Prime, 'household', system.

Does this mean that Prime members won't need minimum $25 for free shipping (for this particular item)?

ETA: Apparently this has a minimum of $25 for shipping even for Prime members.

Your Edit is correct. Why not purchase this with a pantry item to get over that $25 minimum (then cancel the pantry item]

If I would need it that importantly. It was just wasn't the type of language I recalled them using, so I thought that some items have different policies for Prime members.

Why when I buy something and it says free return shipping do I have to pay return shipping if I choose an option like it’s the wrong size? It seems like every option you choose for why you are returning has a different charge or no charge to return

If you bought something that was marked 'free return shipping' (generally clothing), then the reason doesn't matter; it will be free.

Not only that, if you bought something that doesn't have free return shipping all you need to do is make it seem that it was amazons fault you are returning it (EG: for the return reason choose "description did not match item") and you will get a free return label. If you morals don't let you do that  ;) then chat in and say you would like to return it and they will almost always create the return for you and send you the free label. I've done the latter many times but it can only be done for items sold by amz.

Depends on the item
I don't recall ever in the past having an item say "Free 2 Day Shipping" and a delivery date of January 11. That's a marketing scam! From my 10 years with Amazon 2 day shipping got you your item in 2 days.

Don't think so. Had it two weeks ago and I emailed them and got no response. This time I called them right away and wasted 25 minutes and got nowhere. They claim there is also a processing time and 2 day shipping never meant order will be received within two days.

I've had similar situations. Basically what they said was that 2-day shipping is just that; from when it ships it arrives within two days. However, many items still have processing time till it ships.

Basically defeats the whole purpose of prime.  ::)

I placed an order Sunday Jan 7 - chose Two-Day Prime shipping - the checkout page said "Guaranteed Delivery Date: Wednesday, January 10, 2018".  I didn't screen-shot it bec I didn't really think there was going to be a problem.  This morning I got a notice that it shipped and would be delivered on Thursday January 11.  I really needed it by Wednesday.  I'm an Amazon Prime member pretty much since the beginning - but I don't remember something like this.  Anything I can do?

from what i know any time time a item delivery date changes from original email of you call them or chat with them they will either give a extra month prime for free or a $5/10 courtesy credit. key to use when chatting or calling is the word "compensation"

Will the one who uses the gift get $107.25 to use and pay towards the tax? Or only $99 and I the buyer of the gift prime will pay tax on the gift?

As I would be better of buying it using a different billing address which Is not charged tax and get it for $99 exactly?

Make sure to change the passwords for any account that's connected, directly or indirectly.

For example, let's say your login to your Amazon account is cholent@gmail.com, make sure to change the passwords for  your gmail account (cholent@gmail.com) as well. To continue with the example, say that cholent@gmail.com is a delegated account for kugel@gmail.com, make sure to change the password there as well. And the backup account for kugel@gmail.com is gefilte@gmail.com; the backup account for cholent@gmail.com is shnitzel@gmail.com, make sure to change those passwords as well. Etcetera.

Make sure that your email accounts aren't set to auto forward to any other account.

I feel like it means 12 per every time you pay. So if you pay one year, you can get it extends for a year, and then have to pay again. So you'd have to pay every 2 years

If I plan on buying camera for example is there any reason I shouldn't buy it from a FBA seller which I wouldn't pay tax versus buying it from Amazon that I'm going to pay tax?

The only difference I see is, Amazon shipping you a camera VS a random 3rd party seller - now, he has good ratings, so there shouldn't be an issue, in general most people feel more comfortable buying directly from Amazon than anyone else.

Good Luck!

We're all 5 items delivered?
Once there delivered you shouldn't see any change in price, basically once your products are delivered they charge you.

Besides for showing they're going to charge for shipping $5.99 they end up charging a bit cheaper and free shipping with no rush 6day shipping. Weird I can say.

Hello,

We have determined that you have violated our Community Guidelines. As a result, we have suppressed all of your reviews, and you will no longer be able to post community content on Amazon. This includes Customer Reviews.

Customer Reviews are meant to give customers unbiased product feedback from fellow shoppers. Because our goal is to provide Customer Reviews that help customers make informed purchase decisions, any accounts and reviews that could be viewed as advertising, promotional, or biased will be removed.

Your community privileges may have been revoked for one or more of the following reasons:
-- Elements of your account indicate a relationship to sellers, publishers, or other reviewers of the products you review.
-- Your reviews were posted in exchange for compensation, such as gift cards to purchase the product, product refunds, review swaps, or free or discounted products.
-- You requested free or discounted products in exchange for reviews.

We made this decision after carefully considering your account. This decision is final, and your community privileges will not be reinstated.

To learn more about our policies, please review the following on Amazon.com:

I probably shouldn't even waste my time trying to fix my account?
Just use another account should I want to buy products and leave reviews.

Looks like they also changed things so that you can only get an addon item if you're spending $25 on items shipped to that address. I used to be able to make one order and split the items to different addresses, and have addon items sent to one place and the rest of my order sent somewhere else.

I tried this new "Amazon Day" shipping on quite a few Add-on items and it worked on all of them.

You have to pick first one day in the week between Mon-Sat as your "Amazon Day" and then you will always get the option to have your item delivered on that day in the following week.

If you are targeted for that tryout items will not display anymore as Add-on items.

You still have the option to get your items shipped faster if you do add $25 as usual.

Good to see this is really working, and my report is not just a glitch.

Surprised @Dan made a whole post about Add-Ons and didn't bother to mention this.

Put the Tracking number into the USPS website you or her might be able to reschedule delivery, and/or pre-sign for it.

Probably USPS had do much to deliver that day, they say this so they don't break the prime shipping guarantee

If they don't deliver it today you can

b) go to local PO to pickup

If she has an Informed Delivery account she might be able to reschedule online

The next day it was marked as delivered but it wasn't there, so after waiting another day I contacted Amazon. Amazon said it was marked as delivered by mistake, and they will send a new one. The next day both packages showed up! Contacted Amazon and they said to keep both.

I ordered 35 sets of the Moto x4 that had a promo 2 days ago, I wasn't sure if he wanted to buy it, so I put the order on a card that's closed already, that way it gets declined & I have 2 days to change the CC, then it will get shipped.

After ordering these 35 sets, I got shut down (as expected), they sent me an email that they want to verify payment billing info. So I sent in all the info, & today they reopened my account, & I have all these phones that I need to change the CC in order for it to ship. So my question is like this: should I cancel the orders (as not to wake the sleeping bear again) or I can go ahead & get it shipped?

Thanks

I tried this new "Amazon Day" shipping on quite a few Add-on items and it worked on all of them.

You have to pick first one day in the week between Mon-Sat as your "Amazon Day" and then you will always get the option to have your item delivered on that day in the following week.

If you are targeted for that tryout items will not display anymore as Add-on items.

Doesnt seem to be working for me anymore? Anyone else who had this add on trick to stop working now?

https://www.dansdeals.com/blank/targeted-hot-save-75-pantene-dial-dove-soaps-deodorant-shampoo-amazon/

I have a few of these in my cart, where it's set up with the Prime Day discount of x%, the subscribe and save discount, and a box showing clip coupon to save 40%. But when I click the clip coupon link nothing happens.

Did you try checking out to see if it gives the discount?

I'm thinking I must not actually be targeted, and this is just a half-backdoor into the coupon. Basically, the extra coupon doesn't show up for me on the product page itself. It only showed up when I added the product to my cart (as one time) and clicked the subscribe and save option within the cart.

It's not FedEx. Lakewood is 95% delivered privately (TBA) from a warehouse in PA. If you order something random that's not there then you get it thru UPS usually.

I usually just search my email for 'amazon' (no quotes) and the amount. It finds pretty much everything except the S&S charges. You can also download an order history report here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/b2b/reports

Never heard of this site, but similar sites (e.g. rebatekey) simply redirect you to an Amazon search for the general product, then tell you to find the correct item.

I ordered
 https://www.dansdeals.com/shopping-deals/amazon/hurry-crock-pot-cook-carry-6-quart-oval-portable-manual-slow-cooker-7-amazon-20-price-drop/

Then the shipping switched to We will email you as soon as this order ships. You won't be charged until then. We're sorry for the inconvenience
so I chatted with them and asked them to send a replacement and they said just order a similar model and (gave me a link to one) and we will refund the difference when it arrives, so I did.
And it arrived today when I ask for the refund they transfer me to the Concern team who said that agent gave you incorrect information we cannot offer any refunds or price matches.

Any ideas on how to get them to honor the original offer?

I ordered two phones on cyber Monday for $15 each.

When they came they were two totally different phones. One correct $15 phone and one $80 phone.

I told them I wanted two of the same for two boys. They said no problem and shipped me a replacement for free.
Don’t have to return the more expensive one.

I ordered a costume on Amazon from a 3rd Party seller, FBA.  It arrived today in a box that was previously opened and the costume is clearly used.  I am in Israel and don't want to risk trying to get a replacement in time for Purim.  I am happy to pay ~half of new price.  Should I negotiate with the seller or Amazon CS?

FBA, I will chat with costumer service .. and it possible that because you're in Israel they will just refund you and let you keep the costume.

And I think you could even offer them to pay half and keep it, they could do it for you.

It depends on the retailer, Amazon does not permit it.

Simple @Dovdovmoneytree
Use each one separately to reload your Amazon balance with the full amount on each GC.
Then checkout using your amazon gift card balance.

If it says "Gift Certificate/Card" then it was purchased just with a gift card.
If it says "Gift Certificate/Card and visa xxxx" then it was shared.
