Title: How to send a blast email?
Post by: churnbabychurn on May 14, 2014, 03:33:53 PM
Have a spreadsheet with approx 200 email addresses, is there a simple way to send them a blast email via outlook with an attachment like a mail merge in word?
(dont want to pay constant contact etc...)

Why not just put them in the "BCC" field? Thats what I do

Yup. I do about 400. I always add two or three of fine just to make sure they go through

Yes, prepare the email in Word (make sure it is linked to your Outlook account) and use the mail merge feature. (Mailings - Start Mail Merge - Email Messages). When you select recipients, choose existing list and use your spreadsheet. Make sure when you hit "finish and merge" you have the correct column selected with the appropriate data.

And very simple to use and you get to see reports of opens, clicks etc.

Does Word not work together with outlook to do that? Mine does. Go to mailings, start mail merge, and select email messages

Mailchimp specifically or ConstantContact  too?

I found Mailchimp to be the worst, but all third party senders don't work too well in this department...

I want to send an attachment. Can that be done through a word-outlook mailmerge?

Oh, missed that line of your first post. No it can't be done in regular Word or Mailchimp. I know someone who uses an add-on called OMMA but I don't have personal experience with it. BCC is probably your simplest option in this case.

Rather than start a new thread, I will ask my question here. Can email blasts be sent in via services like mailchimp and if yes, does anyone have experience with it as I am having trouble figuring it out? Thanks!
