Title: It gets even better: 50% bnous for 1st time MR > Delta transfer!
Post by: AsherO on January 22, 2011, 07:19:10 PM
You also get 25k,000 MQM, see here (http://dmn.delta.com/offers/getmore/).

This is for first time transfers, do you think that means first time for Delta account, or for Amex MR account (or both)?

?

I'm pretty sure AA has a cheaper award (http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/11975) (albeit less availability).

Ana also has award tickets (https://www.ana.co.jp/wws/sz/e/asw_common/amc/reference/tukau/teikeiair_1.html) for 60k (http://www.dansdeals.com/forums/index.php?topic=2044.msg17596).

There are even Skyteam (and other) options for less (http://options).

It's not bad, but there are definitely better options out there IMO. I guess what it boils down to is what ticket you're looking for.

I know some of you here will say: 'Wake me up when it's a 100% bonus'.

Delta account. accounts for a transfer even 5 years ago. open a new delta account and you will be fine. only 1st transfer is 50% so decide how much first.

Probably a bad idea. If they catch you they'll probably close your account(s) and take away all of the miles

Heads up, if you go to this page (https://dmn.delta.com/cgi-bin/viewpromo.pro) when signed into your Delta account, you can see what Delta promos you're registered for. Make sure you see the 30%, the 50% and the MQM promo.

Thanks for the link for checking to see what I'm signed up for. It's only showing the 50% and the MQM. Not the 30% and when I try signing up again for the 30% it says I have already signed up for this offer, What should I do now?

I have a quick question.  I did a small transfer to Delta from AMEX last year, it was only 2500 points.  I take it i am now disqualified from the promo.  My question is though can I transfer form my Amex account to my wife's mile account and still get the bonuses? Or is there anyway I can still pull it off so that it will work for my account?  Thanks!

Yeah, I just opened a new delta account, my old one didn;t have much in it and I had no status, so I think I'll just use my new one and see what happens, not sure if I'll merge them.  I'm thinking of opening an amex platinum and then canceling to get the points.  do you know if  I have a gold account and cancel my platinum, do my platinum points go to my gold account or do i need to tranfer them out of amex before i cancel?

You can have AMEX combine your MR accounts into one.

I just registered for both promos and when I look in my account for what mileage promotions i signed up for it only shows the 50% and MQM bonus, it doesn't show the 30% also.

And when I go to sign up again for the 30% promo it says that I already registered for it.

Does any one have all the promos show up on their account? Could it be that Delta is only letting the 50% or 30% but if you do both then they max you at 50%?????

Not sure if anyone bothered to read the T&C's of the offer which clearly state:

"Bonus miles and MQMs will be awarded on a one-time basis per qualified member and will not be awarded more than one time per member, for example, on newly created SkyMiles accounts (or duplicate accounts) that are subsequently merged with an existing SkyMiles account"

I don't think you'd get preferred (less miles) availability during RH, maybe someone who knows more can weigh in on whether DL opens availability later on. You're probably looking to fly into Kiev (airport code KBP), from which it's a two hour drive (http://www.dansdeals.com/forums/index.php?topic=3853.msg41795#msg41795). I dunno if you've seen, there's an Uman RH trip report  (http://www.dansdeals.com/forums/index.php?topic=3853.msg41795#msg41795)from Admin Eli.

Delta.com for flights on Delta metal. You probably should call up for any partner availability and i believe they allow you to put the reservation on hold for a few days until you get the miles into the account.

+1, Though it looks like they have (some?) partner flights on Delta.com

It also looks like (for the right dates) you can have an award ticket for as little as 60k Delta + ~$200 in fuel surcharges/fees (http://www.dansdeals.com/forums/index.php?topic=1592.msg12615#msg12615). Look out, there are some 60k options with 2 connections in Europe.

i clicked on the 30% first (but thats bec it was the wrong link on dansdeals)
however i did not recieve the 30% bonus yet.

it was worth making the transfer bec i had to use the miles today to make a flight after my original was cancelled and the rest were totally full

From reading around on the web, it seems that you have to first sign up for both offers and then wait a day or two for the offers to be in your account. Only after your account is showing both offers are valid, should you transfer the amex points. If you do it before the 30% offer is showing you will not get them. So I think I may have blew it on the 30%. Hope this helps others!

Delta is part of the Skyteam alliance. Your best bet is to call Delta directly for availability on their partner airlines. Their website is not the most reliable... You should be able to put an itinerary on hold if they find something that works for you that will get you a few days to transfer the points.

Correct, you can use Delta for partners as well.
You can try checking on Delta.com first to see if they have availability on Delta and if you do you can definitely book that, but when you call you will possibly hear more options including all their partners that may be a better option than what you see online.

DOes delta do status matches?

I tried one, and it didn't get matched yet. Anyone have any insight regarding  this matter?

I did this all within the last hour but im starting to get nervous becuz the 30% bonus isnt listed in my delta bonus status either,  can that also take a few days to post? 50K MR to only 75K sky pesos would be a tragedy!

@ est / uman:

None of the online searches of the skyteam partners have good searches + most agents on the phone have no idea about geography, so let me suggest you do the following:

Go on www.kayak.com and do a search on the date you want to travel, and use the filter on the left hand side to display only skyteam flights, or alternatively you can go to www.skyteam.com and search for flights.

You might be surprised at the combinations suggested.

You then call the airline, and with your suggestions and help, I hope you will be on your way.

Like I sais earlier, if the 30% wasn't showing at the time you transferred on your delta account, you most probably won't be getting it. The best thing to do, for those who still can, is to sign up for both offers, then wait for 2-3 days until the both offers are showing, and only then to transfer the miles. Good Luck to All

I think you're mistaken, many reports online have the 30% posting after the transfer (within 24 hours).

I don't see anything in the current T and C that state the offers can't be combined.  Questions is whether or not they're still honoring it; if not, probably not worth the headache to transfer and then fight it out.

For all airlines, elite status earned in 2011 is good for the remainder of that year, as well as the next complete elite year, which in Delta's case is 01/01/12-02/28/13.

i didn't mean the %30... that they can't technically take back.  the offers were officially stackable according to the t and c's, without any schtick.    i meant the people that took 20/25k rdm for their bonus as a platinum/diamond member; those will prob be gone soon.
over in a big way; amazing what garbage their award calendar is but somehow they have the tech ability to make a completely thorough sweep over all the accounts that took place in the last promo as well as the accounts they then transferred things to...

Weird thing though- I received a total of 94,500 miles with this deal.  Not sure why I got the extra.  In my account history it states that they transferred 15,000 miles today and I got a bonus on top of that of 4500.  I guess they gave me a bonus on top of the correction miles.

Thank you for contacting Delta Air Lines.

I have credited your SkyMiles account with the 30% bonus of 15,000 miles for the American  Express Transfer.

I have had 1 delta account with over 100K for a number of years (10). I made 1 amex transfer for 50K which I received a 20K certificate.
A couple of months later they had the 100K amex prom which gets u bonus 50% and Silver. I wanted to become silver so I asked a friend who uses delta and was doing the transfers anyways to transfer 100K into a new Delta account which I just created.
Now 7 months later I realized that the new acount has 7k remaining (from some misc. bonuses and for some bookings...) so I wanted to combine it with my original account (100K) and also I will be silver.
I did the merge and now my account is showing 57K less (prob 50k from the bonus 50%, and 7K all the misc. bonuses earned on the new account).

I was aware that u cannot merge 2 silvers to become gold. I did not know that they would do this!

Any ideas???

Had this myself.
After fighting hours upon hours, I finally made them understand, that my gold status is still on the account even with the minus, and I'm matching it to Continental and AA, and I'll not fly on a airline getting me miles on a minus. So I'm not losing anything from departing Delta, the one that is the loser will be Delta losing customers.
I told them that if "you are the winner, you are the actual loser. if you let me win this fight, you will win an elite customer", so they refilled my account finally.

If you have time / strength, go ahead, fight it out.

Thank you very much!

I called up customer care told them why I did it and they looked into it and they said that they dod not know why 50k did not get transfered over. They adjusted that and they said that the other 5k was for a new account bonus which I cannot get.

Nope to this particular offer, or nope to all xfer bonuses to DL (because they pretty much have no incentive now that CO/UA left)?

It's only a matter of time IMHO, might be a while though, Amex has other promotions running.
