I think NOT. It's an ideology, and an ideology is something you cannot kill.
Vote above and hit the replies why or why not, and how.

Why does defeating ISIS mean that you have to kill the ideology? That's two different things

The Nazis were defeated though their ideology lives on.

The Nazi ideology that lives on today means hardly anything because in order for it to be effective it has to be in coordination with too many; whereas the ISIS ideology can be followed by loners and carry out attacks on their own in the most remote parts of the globe.
Actually, that itself is their ideology - to fight for sharia/shia wherever, whenever and in whatever circumstances, whether you're alone or with others.

If ISIS means a caliphate, that's not something that can be carried out by loners.

-1 if the caliphate/caliph orders it to be that way. This is especially the case with these self-declared leaders.

The discussion was whether an ideology can continue to thrive once its body has been destroyed. While loners can fight for a caliphate without being in the front lines of the of the organization, a caliphate is only while there is an actual leader, as opposed to an Aryan ideology for example
