Title: Barclaycard Jetblue and Jetblue Plus Cards
Post by: avadah on March 19, 2016, 04:38:10 PM
Does anyone know the minimum CL on the Plus card?

Maybe its time for a proper thread for these cards...?
Something is telling me lots of other folk here are about to get the plus card.
(though the free luggage is only with fare paid with the card.. Would the taxes count?)

I feel silly for closing my old Amex Jetblue card right before they changed it over, though it might have allowed me to get the bonus,
who knows

1. Needs to be verified, but IIANM once you have the card its tied into your account even though its supposed to be paid with the card and will work without the booking

2. I kept my amex open. got the transfer bonus and signed up for the plus card for the bonus

Does anyone know the minimum CL on the Plus card?

Minimum reported on CB is $1,500. Only 3 DP though.

Not many DP, but lowest approved score is 686 and avg score is 704. Barclaycard usually isn't too picky on credit score though. If you have existing cards, put spend on them before applying.

Barclays is picky about new accounts.  They have cried about them long before any Chase 5/24 rules came to be.

The JB plus is worth the AF if you fly even once a year with JB with the family or even yourself if you bring even 1 piece of luggage.

$50 savings RT. With the anniversary miles it makes it a lucrative card to keep if you fly JB yearly.

Yup. You don't get the 10% for redeeming miles though. But I'll take mosaic status anyday :)

If this is a public offer I would see a devaluation coming for JetBlue.

applied online.
looking online at my barclays history it says I activated my card 4/15 and the AU card was ordered on 4/16 (over the phone I believe).
I never activated the AU.
I did a bunch of random little spend the first month (statement closed with ~200 in spending) and then 2nd statement I made ~$900 jetblue purchase.

I just tried and no go. Got approved for JetBlue card but declined for M&M, due to to many new accounts, and sufficient credit.
First recon was a no go, didn't even want to do a recon.
I just find them to be a real pita.

Just got approved for my third M&M :)

When i applied for the JB Plus a week ago i threw in a M&M even though i knew i wouldn't get it.
I got a letter saying that i had the maximum number of this card with them (Even though i had it twice, the letter comes even if you had it once)
Just called recon and he had to pull my credit, and then offered to transfer some CL over from another card..

I am thinking of throwing in the JB Business card because the pulls should be combined...

I had the same story  for a couple of years, until just the other week I broke through the boundaries and got the M&M by moving credit.

Should I try for M&M? Is it still considered a 2BM within a few hours or it has to be within minutes?

Booked a flight using the companion discount. Price dropped $90 overall today and I called them to have them adjust the flight they said I will lose the discount. Twitter reps said I should read the terms and conditions and then never responded when I said that the terms saying "The $100 Companion Discount can only be applied to your initial reservation. If the initial reservation is amended or cancelled, the discount may not apply."

In my mind I read that as "may not apply, but its a possibility"

how would you interpret this line?

I'm debating canceling the reservation (mosaic) and rebooking to see if the code works again. worst case spend $10 more total. best case get $90 credit....

You can transfer 6,250 MR to 5k TrueBlue. It's a bad rate, but probably better than buying. If you know somebody with points, you can try pooling with them.

You can recharge a ticket? Or are you referring to canceling and rebooking on a different card, which obviously can't be done on a used ticket.

Is this language new or it was always like this

Earn 30,000
bonus points      Earn extra points
on select
purchases      Earn points
on other everyday
purchases
Earn 30,000 bonus points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days after account opening and pay your annual fee.1

so do you have to pay annual fee to get the bonus points?

I'm still wondering how you get the additional 30,000 points. I thought you only got the base 30,000 for 1k/90 day of spend... not sure if it's an AU thing or other...

As a side note: I got the Personal card and got denied for the Small Business (applied 2 months later) and was pissed enough to write the office of the president after several escalations / offers of switching credit lines. Will post with a data point either way.

By me the annual fee was posted on the last day of the month of the first month 3/31, which was on the 2nd statement (1st statement closed on 3/26), 30K points was credited on close of 2nd statement (4/26).  (maybe it took another few days to post on true blue after statement closed, but, it was shown on my 4/28 statement).

If you have the "plus" card, it will be for free when you check in. the system will know as long as your true blue number is connected to your card and to your itinerary

are you sure about that with all barclay's cards? points post only after payment of annual fee?

and what if you get annual fee waived as some have reported being successful in waiving fee

Waived means credited which is essentially like being paid.

So the ideal time to do this would be in the beginning of next year? So it will be for 2017 & 2018?

If you think about it, it's spending 50k to have all the benefits that SW offers.. Just a thought ;)

You don't need the card in airport. it will come up automatically when you check in either online, kiosk or in person.
It does not show up before, (actually your reservation will clearly say the fee for baggage) but, if you have your card linked to the true blue number and the same number linked to your reservation, it will show up as free at check in.

my jetblue barclays card is declined most of the time, there are funds in it.. what gives ?!

Call up Barclays and go ballistic.   Tell them you pay an annual fee and expect the card to work EVERY time.  Thell them how embarrassed you were.  They'll give you tons of free miles.

Flew out of JFK today with JetBlue on award ticket. All agents on the floor said the free luggage was inky if booked with JetBlue credit card. Eventually that called their help desk who confirmed that I was correct, and 25 mins later all three of us were good to go.
The annoying thing was that all those 25 minutes I was not able to find online the correct info to prove to them. Thank G-d we had come to the airport early.
So for future reference, does anyone have the relevant explicit t&c that can be posted to the wiki?

Per T&C:

"The primary cardmember and up to 3 travel companions on the same reservation who have purchased Blue fares each receive their first checked bag free on JetBlue operated flights. All ticket purchases (original and exchanges) must be made with the JetBlue Plus MasterCard Account and the cardmember’s TrueBlue member number must be entered at the time of booking. Applicable overweight and excess baggage fees will apply. See jetblue.com/travel/baggage/ for more information on JetBlue’s checked baggage policy. For benefit to apply, the Account must be open 7 days prior to air travel AND, reservation must include the primary cardmember's TrueBlue member number 7 days prior to air travel. If your Account is closed for any reason, these benefits will be cancelled. Eligible JetBlue Plus MasterCard primary cardmembers who have purchased a Blue fare will get their first checked bag free of charge for flights operated by JetBlue that do not include first checked bag free. In addition, up to 3 companions traveling with the eligible primary cardmember who have purchased a Blue fare will also get their first checked bag free of charge if they are listed in the same reservation. This benefit will not be available for travel on codeshare flights booked with a JetBlue flight number but operated by another airline. Waiver of bag fee does not apply to overweight or oversized bags. This benefit cannot be combined with any existing TrueBlue program benefits, including any waiver of baggage charges. Please see jetblue.com/travel/baggage for baggage weight and size restrictions. Applicable terms and conditions are subject to change without notice."

FWIW-When you are logged into an account that has the Plus CC it shows one free bag for blue fares. Doesn't seem to indicate that you need to pay with the card. But the T&C clearly state otherwise.

We are so happy that you have chosen to open a JetBlue Plus card so you can earn points more
rapidly.

As a JetBlue Rewards Plus cardholder, you and anyone traveling with you is entitled to one free
checked bag. This benefit is linked to the cardholder, not the card itself. Therefore your
reservation booked with points and any other reservation you travel on will be flagged accordingly
regardless if you use your MasterCard. On the other hand, booking travel for someone else using your
JetBlue Plus card will not allow them a checked bag unless you are traveling on the same itinerary
with them.

Thank you for your loyalty. We look forward to welcoming you onboard again soon!

Kind regards,

Andrea

I believe the standard SUB on the no-AF consumer card is 5000 points for $1K spend.   They are advertising 10000 points for $1K spend om an in-flight offer for the same no-AF card.  Something to keep in mind if anyone is interested in that product.

Not that I heard.

When we landed I asked one of the FA's if I could have a paper application to post the offer code here,  but they were all in the back supposedly and I wasn't about to wait for 180 people to disembark.

If anyone is interested maybe you could call in and claim the plane was out of paper applications and you didnt feel comfortable sharing your SSN with the FA's on their tablet

Strange DP to add:
I booked a flight with JB points in Nov for a flight in Feb. I got the card in Jan. Comments on this thread were confirmed by two diff reps, namely, that I would qualify for the free bags with the card but missed the 10% rebate since I didn't have it at the time of booking.
At check-in, the rep told me that I have to pay for bags.  When I told her the story, she called TrueBlue who confirmed that I needed to pay for my reservation with the CC to get free bags, but still gave me the free bags as a courtesy since I was told by two reps that they'd be free. Tonight, I see that I got 10% of my points credited to me acct.
In other words, the opposite of what I had been told turned out to be true, though I was ultimately able to get the best of both worlds.

I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to put $50,000 spend on my Jet Blue Plus card to get Mosaic status. The catch is that I would pay about 2.85%, or $1,400, in fees for this purchase (tuition).  The 50,000 (actually, about 51,400, when you factor in the fees) JetBlue miles would be worth something like $800 in JetBlue travel (when you factor in the 10% rebate), so the net cost of the Mosaic status is about $600.  This status would be good for the remainder of this calendar year plus next year (2018).  I guess it depends how many flights I plan to make (or, how many I plan to purchase and cancel!), but I'm wondering what you all think about this analysis.

+ 15000 points for hitting mosaic

+ get the business card and the rebate should stack to 20%. (unclear on this one although mine is stacking at 15% right now with the personal plus card and the old amex converted card)

Interesting. Helpful. Thank you.

I was just thinking, though, that I would be better off buying gift cards, rather than the 2.8% credit card fee for my tuition. It's more work to liquidate, but I will save a ton on fees. Thank you again.

Before being approved, they said they need 3-5 days to research the application, including investigate the business.  Anyone else have this experience?

I'm not concerned, but I've never heard of this... but then again, I've never had Barclay biz card (only Amex, Chase, and Citi).

First agent was a nogo.

HUCA and agent asked why I open and close cards, why I don't use my 2 Barclays AA cards, etc, etc.
The AA cards give me 10K miles/year anniversary bonus so I just keep them open but don't use them.

Agent wanted me to close those cards to get the JetBlue card. I threw it back in her face, "That's what you guys always say and then you ask why I keep opening and closing cards! I don't want to keep getting asked that..."

She bought that and approved me for a $5K line without even taking over part of the AA card lines.

If 6 weeks of having your money held hostage and having to obtain and fax proof of payment multiple times is a good story :P

That'll suffice :)

What about pre-paying to biz dept?

How much are you valuing Mosaic that you're putting the spend onto this card?

I have > million B6, so the free redeposit is worthwhile for me.

What is the best way to offset the $99 annual fee?

Any cheap vacation package close to the $100 credit?

5k points offsets it somewhat plus 10% back.

Paying for one suitcase is more than what remains after the offset so I guess the card would be worth it.

I am still looking for how to take advantage of the $100 vacation package credit without going on an expensive vacation.

If you fly even a few times a year on Jetblue, very, very valuable. Consider: Any time a Jetblue sale comes around, book any possible trip you would ever consider making. Cancel later no harm no foul. Also: Book the cheapest ticket of any day (even with stops) and change to the ticket you want for free within 24 hours. And more.

Consider 50K spend on a 2% card is $1,000 value, gray market value for B6 is approx 1.2 =$600 , Thats valuing Mosaic at $400...not crazy.

ETA - with the 30K signup bonus it's actually basically even toss up, I guess I'm adding another card to my next app round :)

  • Complimentary Purchase Assurance – Most items purchased are automatically protected from theft and/or damage for 90 days.
  • Complimentary Extended Warranty – Doubles the warranty on most new purchases for up to 1 year.

Not only that, but you can't prepay and add to your credit limit.
And may Gd have mercy if you prepay to the Barclay consumer address instead of the business address.
prepaying worked for me the 1st time in April 2017. tried again a week later but it didnt work

Applied about a 10days ago for the Jetblue Plus Biz card. Used my name on the app instead of business because will be closing that biz this year. I have already have to go through 3-5 diff departments with multiple calls and send of tax returns for current business and now again they are asking for a notarized letter with explanation of the transition from LLC to SP. They are telling me this is the final step to get the app pushed through for approval.

Anyone else have to go through such hoops to get a single card approved? Is it worthwhile to provide notarized letter or just give up? I feel like I`m deep in a never-ending rabbit whole.

Of course they think it's weird.  Most succesful businesses don't revert back to SP's. If anything, they incorporate.

I'm going to need to try that...

I applied for a CLI together with my Business card. They'll quadrupled my CL on the existing personal card, while at the same time need me to "Verify" who I was (not who the business is) for the new card!

I get your logic but not everyone fits into that box. I moved to a different State and style of income changed with new job so did not warrant the expense of keeping open my corporation for tax purposes. My issue was not why they are asking questions about my profession, my issue is with how intrusive they are and how many hoops I had to jump through for a single business card when my other 9 cards I carry from other banks never took more then 10 min on the phone when needed. This was my first Barclays experience....on a positive note after 9 calls, being told I was "declined" 4 times by diff reps and numerous faxes of financial info - I got approved. Now trying to see if worth putting 50k on the card...

Can we spend the 50k between the biz and personal, or just on the personal? They both have the 50k Mosaic benefit on their landing pages..

So, having the Plus and biz cards is confirmed to get back 20 percent, correct?
That got me thinking... if someone in a family pool also had both cards, wouldn't that be 40 percent back etc?

For me its worth doing it every year. My ideal flight for YT is usually JFK-BUR (LAX if need be) and I can MS the points to give me a significant discount on the flights. The 15k mosaic bonus just sweetens the pot and I plan on doing it every year x 2 as long as they let me.

There's been diff experiences with whether or not you need to use it to get both. My experience with getting the card between booking and flying was automatically getting the latter (10% rebate) but needing to fight for the former (free bags). Reps told me otherwise and ppl's experiences have been different.

Re 10% rebate; you will get it as long you have the card when you fly, regardless of when award was booked.

Re free luggage; my experience was that within hours (maybe minutes?) of getting approved for the card, my upcoming itinerary (booked months earlier) started showing free bags for everyone on my reservation.

To make things complicated (sorry), I had 6 people on my itinerary, 3 of them minors, and we all had free luggage; though according to the card's benefits terms, it's only supposed to cover for card-holder + 3 companions.

Maybe the minors aren't included in the companion limit?
Maybe because at the time I booked, I was Mosaic?

So even though you bought the tickets with a different credit card they allowed the free baggage because you had the card?

Just received my JB plus card. I was told the only way to not pay for luggage is to go to the JB check in desk at airport before flying and show them my card. Is this accurate?
I'm particularly interested in how to get the free luggage when I have a ticket redeemed with miles.

Think so. Prob needs to be in the system that you have a card at some point, but for example, last year I booked without card, then got card, then flew, and got rebate. Not sure where your travel fits in.

I didn't try for the first year fee. For the second year, I got a credit of $49.50 (half the annual fee) and 5,000 bonus miles for spending $1k in the next 90 days. I took the offer since the 5k points is worth around $70-75.

Call JetBlue. Good chance they'll change the flights for you without charging a change fee. But they will charge fare difference.

What a joke.
As an aside, I never understood what these established bloggers have to gain by posting these kinds of things? Don't they gain much more from not making headlines about things and using them personally than the little bit of money they're going to make from one extra blog post? They're all established blogs already, making a steady income, the gain to loss ratio with these things is always going to be way too high to make it worthwhile. Are they just trying to brag? Come across as more knowledgeable? What's the deal? The only blog which really only posts things after they're dead is Miles per Day, and while it's annoying reading about things that you could have made money on had you known about them, it makes sense why he didn't post until they were already dead. There's something about this industry that I really don't understand.

Not sure why autocorrect changed this to BMW, was supposed to be MBM in case that wasn't clear.

Hope I'm posting in the right group...

I'm Mosaic and I cancelled an itinerary purchased on plus card (not points).

Is there any way for the refund to get posted back to the card or it must go to the travel bank which expires in 12 months?

It's approx $1800 and I plan on using points for most future reservations, so I'd rather the funds go back to the card.

Is it possible or the funds can only go into the travel bank on cancelled reservations as the agent said on the phone?

"Possible?" Sure, in the same way it's possible for any airline's non-refundable fare to be refunded.

Is it policy? No.  All non-refundable bookings refunded for Mosaics are put into a Travel Bank.

My apologies if this question is answered up thread. I've reached out to both Barclay and Jetblue, but neither was able to confirm. If I have both the personal and biz versions of the card, and spend say 30k on one and 20 on the other, would I earn Mosaic status? (both cards are associated with the same trueblue account.) Can anyone confirm or refute? Thanks

you don't need to sign up for the card today, as long as you have a card on the travel date which is connected to your True Blue number and ticket is connected to the same true blue number, you will get the free checked bags
does this still apply today? meaning if i apply for card today will i get free checked bags for a pre-existing booking done with Chase UR?

Anyone have luck accelerating the mosaic status earned through card spending? trying to shrink the 4-6 week window and no luck yet chatting or calling. Happy to HUCA but curious if anyone had results.

Thank you, status posted yesterday, approx 4 weeks from the charge that took me over threshhold (and approx 2 wks from that same statement closing).

Can the JB biz card be added to a regular Barclays login? I only was able to set up an account on https://www.jetbluebusinesscard.com but that site is very outdated and doesn't even allow autopay

One of the worst websites I've visited.
Outdated and confusing to use

Data Point:

Jetblue Mosaic awarded ~12 days after hitting $50K.

Transaction putting me over 50K = 7/8/18 (not sure when it posted).
Mosaic 15K bonus posted/dated 7/20/18

Data Point:

Jetblue Mosaic awarded 10 days after hitting $50K.

Transaction putting me over 50K = 6/17/19.
E-mail congratulating me on earning Mosaic = 6/27/19
Mosaic 15K bonus posted = 6/27/19
Mosaic 15K bonus dated = 6/26/19

Statement did not close between 6/17 and 6/27.

Question:

On the personal card there is a clear countdown to Mosaic, however on the business card, JetBlueBusinesscard.com I searched everywhere and can't see how much more I need to spend to hit 50K...
Can someone advise where this info is hidden on that site, or elsewhere?
How can I see how much more I need to spend to hit Mosaic?
Thanks

Thanks. I'm off by $3,000. I gotta wait until next month.
Don't understand why they can't use the same portal/website for both business and consumer cards.

is there a no AF version I can downgrade to (will keep my points alive)?

don't use jetblue that often so plan on cancelling before getting hit with my 2nd annual fee. for me, anniversary points not worth to keep card open.

you can downgrade but just having the card is not necessary as B6 points never expire

you can downgrade but just having the card won’t keep your points alive you will still need to earn more points one way or another

Considering applying for the JetBlue Plus, mainly for the free luggage, but i just purchased a few RT tickets on JetBlue with a diff cc. Is there any way to get JetBlue to give free luggage even though i didn't pay for the flights with JetBlue card?

If the card is associated with your trueblue account then you should be fine

But the T & C says you had to have paid for the flights with the JB card. Have you experienced otherwise?

how likely is it to get 2 biz cards approved within a short period of time, say 1 or 2 weeks? No pre-existing barclays cards prior to the 1st app. Already got 1st card approved (pretty much instant).
