Being that the other thread is mainly about signing up and getting approved, I feel the need for a thread to discuss the many benefits is the card, and how it boils down to us (think pggm).
I'll start by asking (possibly already discussed, but way too hard to find amongst all the other stuff):
1. Is it a given that the higher 1.5 point redemption will apply to all ur points one has, or they will keep them separate?
2. Cashing out the $300 as easy as Barclay card, or something else necessary?
-
2. Cashing out the $300 as easy as Barclay card, or something else necessary?
Easier.
-
1. Is it a given that the higher 1.5 point redemption will apply to all ur points one has, or they will keep them separate?
As Dan posted a screenshot in the comments on one of his posts, ALL points get the 1.5 redemption. As stated in a few posts that with the quarterly Freedom bonuses you'll end up with 7.5 on the dollar.
-
Easier.
Experience?

2. Cashing out the $300 as easy as Barclay card, or something else necessary?
1. Dan already posted somewhere in that thread that you even before he got the card he was able to move points from other UR cards on his account to the CSR account and redeem at the 1.5.
2. This seems to be easier because chase has a broader definition of travel and the credits are automatic (CMIIW). In terms of things like refundables I'm not sure because I believe I saw on the Ritz thread, someone used it for upgrades (the Ritz credits are only for incidentals) on a refundable flight and when they cancelled the flight Chase clawed back the credits.
-
Experience?
I thought he was referring to the A+, totally forgot about the gold card.
But should be easier, covers more categories, and it's automatic. No personal experience though.

By A+, I assume he was referring to the classic way of cashing out A+ points. I haven't heard any data points yet.

My wife just got her plastic card. We don't have any travel expenses until early 2017 and I'd like to get that credit ASAP. People said the we could get the $250 airline credit on the Prestige by buying refundable tickets. Any DP on that method for Chase?

Wouldn't you end up paying a fee for paying by CC (which is silly considering you can hit 300 without having to pay fees easily)?

Not possible, and if the spend requirement is reached less then a week before the statement closes, the posting of the points will get delayed until the next statement. So I don't think it's smart to change the statement to close sooner.

Reports are that AUs aren't getting the credit anyway.

Yup, though you can always dispute it with the CB's and tell them you're no longer an AU and they'll remove it.

how does the airline credit work ? people make it sound like if i buy an airline ticket for any mount up to $300 then chase will refund me $300, it doesnt make sense that it works that way, it has to be that there are things that qualify and things that dont.

Rec'd card + 2 AU's
total 3 cards, applied for global entry, got 3 $100 charges, 1 was refunded immediately
called Chase sapphire number and the $100 every 5 years is only allowed once, regardless of the number of AU's on the card.
I asked are you sure, they said yes. called 10 minutes later, got same answer from someone else

You should be able to get your Priority Pass account number from either Chase or Priority Pass CSRs. Once you have that you get a one-time temporary password from PP by calling CS. Then you can use the mobile app on either Android or Apple and get a virtual electronic card after creating your online profile. Many if not most of the Priority Pass lounges take this, however, some do require the physical hard card.

You can check here https://www.visa.com/supplierlocator/search/index.jsp although it's not always accurate.

It technically seems so. Although that doesn't mean you won't get flagged and be shut down . And we'd probably have to wait for '17 for a possible proper DP anyway.

I just called Chase. They said they see I requested the PP card online and it should arrive in a few days.

Unlimited as long as your CSR is not canceled.

After much back and forth and showing Chase the Secure message state AU's will get $100 for Global Entry.
I have been denied by the supervisor. the response was the terms of the application are $100 per 4 or 5 years, regardless of what the SM says

How does booking travel through the Chase website to get 1.5 compare to Expedia or other travel websites?
If I book travel through the Chase website and subsequently cancel without penalty do I get the point back or an actual monetary credit on my credit card? Tnx.
-
Any reason why a quick $300 EZ-Pass one time payment wouldn't work? I see on the EZ-Pass website you can make a one time payment. Seems like the easiest way to do a quick travel spend if you're not planning any travel for the rest of the year.

Wondering about this as well. What happens to cancelled hotel reservations? I'd guess they would deposit your points back in your account but I'm not sure. The same question applies to the Citi Thank You points.

Tnx and Tnx! Good to know what to expect.
Combining this with the Freedom unlimited is a nice way to get 2.25 but cashing out would be a pain. The ability to transfer to partners though, makes that combo a no brainer IMHO. Even for those that like cash back.
I sort of split my spending between CB and reward cards. Now I think typical spending will be done on the Freedom unlimited unless I need a warranty (Amex) or it's something in a bonus category with another card.

I posted this in the main CSR thread but I figured it was worth mentioning here as an alert.
It appears that EZ-Pass (at least the NY one) no longer codes their charges as travel. I had a charge on the 10/29 that posted on 10/31 that didn't get a credit and only got 1 point per dollar. I just called Chase and they said the EZ-pass charge was coded as government services - other and not travel. The rep I spoke with also indicated that he thought it used to count as travel but it could possibly be a recent change.
Did anyone have a very recent EZ-pass charge that counted as travel? If so what state EZ-Pass did you use?
My charge was from 10/29 and posted on 10/31 and is from the NY EZ-pass though the charge just says the following:
EZPASS PREPAID TOLL $55.00
Print 800-333-8655, NY 103140000 US
Online, Mail, or Telephone transaction
Rewards earned1
+ 1 Point per $1 on all other purchases 55.00
Total rewards 55.00 Points

Interesting. The change must have occurred between then and 10/29. There was another report on the FlyerTalk CSR thread as well so I don't think it was an error in my case.
This is a really big deal if I'm correct and EZ-Pass NY is no longer travel credit eligible. There are many people for whom the only use of the credit is EZ-Pass, especially in short time windows when there isn't much time left in the year. I think I actually have to change my statement date to later in the month to I have more time in December to get the credit for 2016 as my current statement date is the 2nd.

Unfortunately the GC's are being sold by CashStar so they won't code as travel https://uber-m.cashstar.com/buy/

I read all 10 pages of this thread - someone said PGGM should work but no one reported that they've actually tried. I don't have the card yet so can't try it on my own. Can anyone positively confirm that PGGM works for the $300?
Thanks!

I'm not following, sorry. Do you mean that simply booking and canceling within 24h will trigger it (and it's not necessary to do the whole e+ upgrade)? My question was more about the cancellation, not about the e+ thing, really.

I'm not saying you should do that and they can always claw the credit back but that should trigger the credit.

Please update if you find anything. I'm in the same situation -- I have till 12/10 or so to get the $300 charged, but my next hotel bookings aren't coming up until 12/16 and I don't want to book a non-refundable rate (El Al flights, afraid of changes with the latest labor action).
What are the chances that they claw it back if I book something refundable and cancel?

So next question: Is there any way to get chase to change the coding of actual travel that do not post as such, or will I meet up with a brick wall?

I think they're all sent UPS/FedEx regardless. Mine came within 3 days or so via FedEx without requesting special delivery. This was last week. They wouldn't expedite the Priority Pass cards.

I was wondering if anyone can answer this for me. I see a great deal on a laptop advertised on Best Buy for black Friday but I'm not willing to push/wait in long lines., I was wondering if I buy it now for full price will i be covered under the Price protection my CR card offers? Your thoughts?

The three $__ Ezpass Prepaid charges on your November 20,

You need your passport, licence, and letter of conditional acceptance.
You should know your name, address, DOB, and which side is right and left.
-
And if you've ever been arrested or fingerprinted by a government agency, they'll know about it. You might also get quizzed if you've visited the Middle East, Cuba, etc.

Usually takes ~5 minutes.
Israel shouldn't be an issue.
-

They won't quiz you on customs laws, but you need to be mindful of them. It only takes one customs mistake to have Global Entry revoked.
-

They ask you standard questions. My family and extended family have all been through this. No knowledge of custom laws is needed. They asked if I have traveled out of the country recently or do I plan on traveling. Where I work. Have I been convicted of a crime. DW they didn't really ask her anything. It is a piece of cake.

Ouch. I did mine on a layover. Unless you're a very frequent flyer, spending a couple hours to get Global Entry on a non-travel day negates a big chunk of the time G.E. will save you. But with the interview backlogs at many airports, I guess people have to do what they have to do.

You're prob right. I'm not a frequent flyer at all but I want to use the Reserve credit and I hope that I can just keep renewing without interview again. Do you know if they usually require interview to renew?

It's hit or miss; seems to depend somewhat but not entirely on countries visited. Five years from now, though, if they do require another interview, one would hope you'd be able to just renew during a trip. The current backlogs are hurting the program.

I would posit that the few hours spent now to save 20 minutes in security by having precheck (which is automatic with GE) and making a flight you'd otherwise miss is a good enough reason, before adding any other considerations.

There's no digital card for the Chase version of Priority Pass, but she can swipe the CSR and Chase will refund the $27 (?) lounge fee up to two times if she calls. Not sure if guests are included in the refund policy. (She might need the PP number for the desk; not sure.)

PP? Sure. She has to download the app, or at least that makes it easier. She may have to call in for a code, which she gets by giving her membership number or credit card number.

Hi
Round trip for wife and our young child was booked with CSR and was supposed to return yesterday morning from Canada but early morning of yesterday, my mother in law suddenly fell down and some bleeding and was taken by ambulance to emergency room and docs said her mother had blood clot in her brain and high blood pressure.
I had to cancel my wife's flight because she can't leave when her mom suddenly experienced serious health issue. I called Chase who called the airline and I too called and the fee for refund or credit was double the price of a flight ticket so I had to cancel. I called CSR benefit dept and they emailed me some forms to send back.
My question is, what can she file claims for beside the trip cancelation due to sudden health issue with immediate family member?
Can she charge her cards for food and grocery and travel until she is able return back and get credited?

Amazing how thoroughly the travel credit is coded. I wanted to check how much I need to do and all I realized is that I used them up already from routine stuff!!

Just upgraded my wife's CSP to the CSR and now we get 2 credits for precheck does anyone know if kids go free through precheck or if they also need to sign up?
Thanks
Just btw, did you get the bonus points when upgrading ?

Yes, I did

Found pretty good tickets to Israel with Ukranian Airlines on Kayak. When I want to book those tickets with CSR points, they are showing up $100 more per ticket on the ultimate rewards site. I called Chase travel rewards and they explained that they only go by what the airline is selling the tickets for. In this case, the points are not exactly worth 1.5 as your paying a premium for the ticket ebacuse you aren't buying through a travel booking site like Kayak or priceline. Anyone have any thoughts/advise on this?

you got 100K when you upgraded from CSP to CSR?
I was expressly told by the rep that I will not get the bonus.

Thanks
You booked using points or an actual revenue ticket?

Do the price comparison based on what you can actually get the tickets for.
CSR site vs Kayak vs airline points.

Just double checking that I'm doing the best option as I can sell my chase points for 1.4
6 tickets to Israel on Orbitz $4236 (302,571 points @ 1.4) + earn 12,708 points travel category 3 points/dollar
6 tickets to Israel on chase travel site $4530 (302,000 @ 1.5)

I would HUCA until an agent can get the same price for you. They should be able to - happened to me before and they were able to get it but YMMV.

CSR points, the benefit dept told me it is treated as if it is paid directly with card itself.
I read the entire benefit guides https://www.chasebenefits.com/sapphirereserve and still not sure if the immediate family member is supposed to part of the trip.
Was wondering if any benefits apply if you had to cancel your trip because of an emergency medical issue with your parent? The parent is not traveling and not booked for this trip. I just went to meet my parent and on my return date she got seriously ill and was admitted to emergency room and now I am not sure when I can return because it will be at least few days.

Had some experience with delay but not medical.
reading through it looks like you would only be covered for cancellation/change fee expenses but not food etc

Idk about the CSR, I would assume its the same as the Ritz though (visa infinite). The Ritz does include immediate family members for reimbursement

Has anyone realized that Chase has some massive discounts when booking Hotels on their site? For example I was looking at Hyatt Ziva Cancun on some dates they can be 200 less then the cheapest rate I found.

DATA POINT & Question:
Got my CSR in OCT.
MON 28 NOV signed up wife for CSR for $4K for 100K.
Received it today, 30 NOV & statement closing date is 11 DEC & Due Date is 08 JAN.
So, DEC Statement Date is still possible for CY16 $300 Travel Benefits.
But, what's most lucrative travel benefits to buy & sell as I have no travel available to purchase?
My SWA GC I bought on my card seem to have little interest.
Any ideas....

I'm planning to book a flight on BA from LGW to OPO, preferably using Chase UR points.
The BA website shows the fare as £40 (= $50.35) for Economy Basic or £53 (= $66.71) for Economy Plus, which includes one checked bag and 48-hour seat selection. I will have a checked bag, so I need Economy Plus (the fee for checking a bag on Economy Basic is £30 if booked in advance or £40 at the airport)
Chase shows this same flight for $66.50 (or 4,433 UR points). It identifies the class as simply Economy. Based on the price, is it safe to assume that this is Economy Plus?

Booked hotel stay on Sapphire Reserve for full $300 travel credit. Have to cancel the trip. Anyone know if Chase will retroactively apply the credit to other travel related spend if the year-end has passed on the card? If trip is canceled after year-end but currently still 2016 cycle, worthwhile to spend $300 on travel and hope Chase will apply credit?

I'm looking to meet my $4000 minimum spend and am planning to buy a plane ticket for a summer 2017 trip that will put me over $4000. I will be buying a refundable ticket because there's a chance my travel plans may change. If I have to cancel the ticket and receive a refund, will this have any impact on the sign up bonus points that I received as a result of meeting the $4000 spending threshold?

Should work, a UR booking is really a cash reservation, Idk if that cert has to be used at the time of booking though or if you can call and add it after you already have the reservation.

Correct.

I thought they would extend the time between statement closing and payment due date. If the due date is a legal holiday they would push it off a day, I thought maybe if the statement closing date is a legal holiday they would bring it back a day. But all this is just my speculation.

My guess is it won't change.

The CSR travel benefit is a terrible. agents lying, playing games to deny claims. I will explain:
I filed a claim on DEC 9 for travel interruption/cancelation because I had to cancel the return flight booked with CSR because my mother got sick on same day and admitted to emergency. I had to postpone my return and later rebook a week later. I filed claim with chase and sent in everything they asked including the claim form, the original round trip, the canceled one and the final flight and a letter from doctor. After 2 weeks, they replied back saying I should send this and that and they are all same thing I sent/emailed them 2 weeks ago. So I called today on Dec 21. and they said I should speak to a claim examinor and they are not available to talk and I should just wait for some calls or replies,
Yesterday Someone who introduced herself as Liz, called me yesterday and said they received everything BUT that Air Canada paid for my return flight on American Airlines. She says AA gave me 15K Avios points and $88 first and I used those to book the return flight. I was like what? What's this nonsense about AC booked my return flight on AA and AA gave me BA points and $88 to book my return flight on AA? Hey I have my own BA FF account and used my own BA points plus tax for 2 people to book return flight from YYZ. You can see that in the email too.She Just made up a lie as an excuse to deny the claim. The original round trip was booked with my Chase credit card points on Air Canada. I couldn't return on return date due to emergency issue with my mother and Air Canada wouldn't re-book my return flight. So I had purchase a new flight tickets on American Airlines using my 15000 British Airways avios points & $88 plus in taxes. I have sent you guys EVERYTHING ,all the original flights, canceled flight and my return flight and how they are paid. The rep Liz just lied by saying AA told her I was re-booked by AA on AA flight and that AA paid the return flight for me. I told her stop talking nonsense and read all the docs I emailed them including how I paid for the AA flight with my own British airways points and $88 tax. I told her bring on the AA rep on phone that told you they re-booked the return and paid for my return flight. She put me on hold for 30 mins or longer and didn't bring AA rep and disconnected the phone line. When I called back, it was another rep who told me " I can appeal my claim".
I sent this email today: I am asking you guys to stop playing games and be honest. I WILL file complaints with the insurance regulators in Georgia (where ever your offices are located) and my home state, and potentially file a lawsuit in my county's General District Court, if you do not resolve the claim within 7 days.
Should I contact Chase about my dissatisfaction about their benefit dept? File BBB or CFPB complaint first?

Appeal first and then do all of the above? You have nothing to lose.

I have done both. I had to file CFPB complaint because what they are saying and doing to ignore/deny the claim is simply so sick! I demanded that they not only process my claim, the rep who lied about my return flight be disciplined and that she should apologize to me.

First of all, don't listen to TPG. If you're redeeming through the UR travel portal, you'll get a flat rate of 1.5 cpp, if you transfer to travel partners (airlines or hotels) the value you get out of the points depends on how you spend them, you can get anywhere from under 1 cpp to upwards of 10 cpp.

i have 3 Chase accounts that earn UR points: 1 Chase Sapphire Reserve, and 2 Chase Ink cards.
Since Chase Sapphire Reserve has a 1.5 cents per dollar redemption option, can I move my points over from my Chase Ink cards (using the "combine points" feature) to the Chase Sapphire card, so that all my points will have the 1.5 cents per dollar redemption option?
I called Chase to ask that question, and they said yes, but it seems impossible to me that they would do that.
Please let me know if you have done this.

another question:
what does this mean -the part i underlined (from dan's original post about this card)?:
"Previously it’s always been worth transferring Chase points into real airline miles and hotel points. But at about 1.5 cents per dollar it can start making sense to consider redeeming points directly for paid travel without transferring them into miles. That’s especially true as those fares, as opposed to traditional mileage tickets, also earn additional miles."
if i'm redeeming via chase for paid travel, how are those fares earning additional miles?
sorry - just not getting it.
thanks for any help

Because any travel redeemed through UR is considered a cash purchase on the airlines/hotels end, thus earning you miles/points for the flight/stay

You don't get your car rental membership benefits if you booked thru CSR travel website?
I have Avis preferred membership and booked on CSR site. The reservation is not found on Avis account unless I manually add the confirmation number I got from Chase. I called Avis and the rep said since this is booked thru third party and not directly from us, you don't get your preferred membership benefit. Is this true? I thought CSR gets you automatic preferred status but the rep said he doesn't see preferred benefit info on this reservation. Strange!

You should be able to add a wizard number to the reservation.
Where do you add it? They don't even call it wizard number.
I am unable to see or do anything regarding the avis rental booked from Chase on my avis.com account. I can find the reservation only if i enter the chase rental confirmation number. How do I know i will be able to take advantage of my avis preferred benefit when i am at the location? The rep said no avis benefit if booked from third party.

Before you cancel, make sure a similar rate is still available through the portal. If so, call and make sure you can cancel (i was able to cancel mine up to 24 hrs before) - and if you can cancel, then re-book through UR travel portal, this time putting in the avis number, and confirm booking. Then cancel the first one without avis #.

I did add the avis number, it says "loyalty" on the csr travel website. But AVIS rep told me he doesn't see that I have AVIS preferred benefit on this and then booking on any third party gives NO avis preferred benefit.

Had a similar situation. However after reading the fine print and speaking to many employees both at Chase and the Benefit Admin. You are only entitled to compensation for the non refundable canceled return fare. AC should refund the taxes on that ticket if you ask for it. The rest should be given by Chase. In received a payout after I a canceled a return fare for 5 passengers. I too asked for compensation on the rebooking. I didn't get it. You either get the canceled fare or the change fee to change the ticket. You don't get the canceled fare + the cost of a new return flight.
To date, the CSR has paid out $700 in travel insurance and $180 in purchase protection. Definitely keeping this card.
-
if you read, they didn't want to give me anything, NONE. Not even the original canceled flight. I'd be satisfied if they just refund me for the canceled flight. They asked me how I eventually returned. I told them i booked my own flight on AA and paid myself and showed them the reservation that shows I booked the return flight on BA website on AA flight. They twisted that and lied to me by saying that return flight that I booked by myself was booked by AC for me. The way they booked for me was AC, reused my CSR points and booked an AA flight on BA website. They are making up nonsense stuffs and playing games to deny.
Let's see how me complaint with Chase goes. I had to contact chase exec office cos the benefit dept is just being too dishonest!
-
I did read. The reps in Benefit admin have a hard time figuring out what's going on. Just wondering if you claimed the whole thing and it somehow confused them. Very surprised at how they are distorting your experience. From my experience chase executive office will be helpful.

Depends where.
EWR never checks for example and it's landside. Great place to stop for kosher wine and snacks.
When the wingtips lounge at JFK was landside (Called then Oasis) I was able to access as well without a BP

I had once a claim regarding a flight, Travel Guard "paid" me within 6 weeks, Chase took close to 4 months.
Refund of taxes? Are you kidding me? This for a round trip NYC>TLV is about $98 (Fuel is refundable is the ticket is)

Are you asking about year 2?

Are you dumb, slow, stupid or all 3?! You pay $450 in January 2017. You get back $300 in the year 2017, and then another $300 in 2018. Then when your card hits the 2nd year you close it! That's besides the 100,000 bonus points!

Yes year 2 they would give again 300 even if i cancelled?
I understand the value can be high at 1.5CPP but many times I just used airline points that i transferred from UR for example southwest, or just purchased the ticket direct because was a good low fare.
Also don't do ton of eating out a year and have other cards that give 2x points on dining so really just one extra point.

Should I try to expedite shipping, or it's not worth the $21?
I decided to the latter. It's basically a very poor deal when you have to pay double just because of shipping (when the savings aren't that great after all).

1. will show 2 credit pulls (but maybe the 2nd pull not so bad cuz its a business card) 2. Maybe too many to apply in same week or month unless u say business doesn't count much 3. Afraid of being denied have 4-5 personal chase cards already plus 3 business chase cards . On another note didn't apply for new cards in 2 years

YMMV my daughter is over 12 and they let her go with me in the TSA line. IMO they don't bother to check or choose not to enforce etc....

Expiration date is not that hard to figure out and card number will show up if you send an SM.

It sounds like making some travel through CSR is limited, system does not allow one way car rentals also only pick up from major airport not local pickup. :(

Firstly, is anyone else experiencing the chase travel portal not working? Secondly, has anyone booked through the hotel collection or with (amex plat)? Can those hotels be booked through points as well? Are there usually worthwhile deals?

Once I'm approved for the CSR, when can I start redeeming UR (from other cards on same login) for 1.5X? Does the card need to be activated first or can I redeem immediately once it shows up online?

Awesome, exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks

Not sure if it was mentioned yet, but you don't get a digital pp card in the app with the CSR unlike amex plat which does. You must bring the actual card with you.

how does the airline credit work ? people make it sound like if i buy an airline ticket for any mount up to $300 then chase will refund me $300, it doesnt make sense that it works that way, it has to be that there are things that qualify and things that dont.
Its not airline credit. Its travel credit. Any travel related expense gets credited. See this thread and it's wiki: http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=68940.0
And every time you make a travel purchase, it gets credited. Up to $300. It does not work that if you make a $10 purchase, you get a $300 credit. You would get a $10 credit. It is cumulative for the year, up to $300.

I did read. The reps in Benefit admin have a hard time figuring out what's going on. Just wondering if you claimed the whole thing and it somehow confused them. Very surprised at how they are distorting your experience. From my experience chase executive office will be helpful.
I filed complaint against Chase with CFPB but same denial.
Here is the case:
I booked round trip on AC two on Chase UR site with CSR points.
On return date, we couldn't return due to sudden medical emergency with my mother and I called Chase that morning on NOV and who later told me AC told them the fees and penalty would cost about $500 to rebook the return flight for another date. That amount was even more than the original round trip. I checked with AC myself and they told me the same. After a week, i returned on AA flight that I MYSELF BOOKED USING MY OWN 15K BA AVIOS POINTS PLUS OVER $88 IN TAX I PAID WITH MY CSR CARD. I filed a claim and i sent them everything they asked for such as
Original round trip Chase travel voucher reservation.
The return AC flight that I couldn't fly
doctor's letter
Return AA flight reservation email from British airways website that clearly shows 15k avios and over $88 in tax paid
Chase SR statement that would show the $88 in tax I paid for the AA flight I booked on BA site.
$50 in Bag fee for the AC one way outbound flight with my CSR card.
They said they got everything they asked to send but my claim is denied because it was AC and not me that booked the return AA flight for me.
When I told them to look at the return AA flight reservation confirmation that shows I used my own 15k BA points and over $88 in tax. They said AC reused my chase points for me and booked the AA flight. I laughed and got mad at the same time they said this.
I called them multiple times to look in to what I sent them and they all said claim denied because AC rebooked my return AA flight.
I finally filed complaint with CFPB and the response is the same lies and thta is AC re-booked the return AA flight for me and they paid $88 for the return one way flight.
As you can see, I showed all the proof but they are twisting and turning and playing games to deny.
Pls tell me what options to take next. small claims court?
How do I do it and pros and cons? I know I can prove them wrong but I still ask for your suggestions and opinions on next steps.
Thanks

It seems to hinge on weather AC rebooked you or not. Maybe you can get AC to verify that they had nothing to do with your return ticket? Maybe there's even something on line in your account about that portion of the ticket being forfeited?

Today I called the Chase executive office rep who replied to my CFPB complaint. I requested her to " look at my CSR credit card statement" that would show a charge from British Airways for $88.22 on DEC 2nd and the flight origin & destination. I told her this is another simple evidence that I paid for the final return flight on my own with my own CSR card. I also used 15k avios points in addition to the $88.22 and that reservation detail was provided to the benefit dept a month ago.
The exec rep replied back by saying, AC took care of that return AA flight and that this is the decision by the benefit dept and the exec office can't do anything and wanted to end the conversation.
So the exec office didn't want to get involved. I contacted and submitted all proof to the benefit dept and called many times since Dec and my contact with Chase executive office, the BBB & CFPB complaint didn't help. I am exhausted!
They no longer care what I sent them or what proof I showed them. If they looked at what I sent them or were fair, they would have never said AC rebooked my return AA flight. If I showed them even my credit card statement showing them $88.22 I paid using my CSR card for the return AA flight AND the reservation detail printed from BA that shows I used 15k avios and $88.22, THEY EVEN IGNORE THAT.

you are really stressing for nothing. Bottom line you lost 15k avios plus $88 extra. I would just let it go. It's really not worth to stress yourself for this IMO

I was suggesting getting proof from the AC side. Either your AC account or a letter/ statement from AC that your last leg was unflown / forfeited / lost and that AC had nothing to do with helping you leave the city.
Although I agree with mochjas not to get sick over this. At some point, it pays to let things slide.

I know Wiki mentions Global Entry or TSA Preè Credit, but the person who is giving me this credit just wants to be certain that TSA Pre will be reimbursed. So, I will ask the question again:
Does chase CSR pay for both GE and TSA pre? Or it is only for GE?
Thanks.

i booked a hotel via chase's travel agency, using sapphire points.
when i checked into the hotel (Hyatt), they told me I can't get Hyatt points for my stay, because the reservation was made via a third party.

hi
i had a small biking accident today (BH all ok!) and had an emergency dentist visit for $700.
i called chase sapphire about making a travel insurance claim, but my trip is only a 4-day trip and not the required minimum 5 days.
chase said that I'm free to go ahead and file the claim and see what happens, but they can't predict what the insurance adjusters will decide.
does anyone have any experience with filing a claim and getting the money, where the trip is less than 5 days?
thanks

Do they both Global Entry and TSAPre randomly require follow up interviews or is that only GE and TSAPre never requests second interview? Any other reason someone would choose TSAPre over GE (other than fee difference)? TIA

GE includes TSAPre.

yes that is true
Does this apply also in a case where it's points + cash? (Or is there no such option?)

it doesn't matter. A UR booking is considered cash to the hotel. But you booked on a 3rd party site so you don't earn stay credits or points. (Found this out from the Jetblue promo)

I know that. I'm wanted to know if there was any reason someone would want to do TSAPre over GE (maybe because you don't need an interview to renew TSAPRE?)

But when booking thru a brick & mortar Travel agent who books it thru the official channels you do get credits/points

So my wife already had TSA precheck before she received the reserve and I don't have the TSA precheck. Can I somehow get free TSA precheck with her card? Can I apply with her reserve through CUR? How would it work?
-
IIRC you should have no problem since the charge will appear as a charge for the TSA there is no way for the CSR to know whom it was charged for. IOW just pay for your Pre check with your wife's card and it will be credited.

Hi All. I looked around a little and did not see this discussed yet, but if it has been please share where.
I have travel vouchers with Copa Airlines after getting bumped from a flight. The voucher will more than cover the cost of my fare, but Copa does not allow you to pay for the taxes with the voucher. Therefore, when I pay for this I will only be charging the taxes to the Chase Sapphire Reserve card. Does anyone know where (if at all) in the terms Chase states that Travel benefits (like insurance, etc.) are covered if I am paying for only the taxes and not the base fare?

Get it in writing from cops airlines that they don't cover taxes. Without that you don't stand a chance

No actual experience, but you should be ale to keep it. What happens as a CSR, stays as a CSR.

I've noticed that if I get a travel purchase refunded, it still eats into my travel credit. So does that mean that I get the credit even though I eventually got a refund?
If that's true, any reason why someone couldn't buy a refundable airline ticket to get the credit, and then cancel?

The original question was if he could close it within the month and not pay the fee.
Presumably he used the 2017 credit and he is not getting 3 credits in the first year as it's February.
Therefore keeping it open will cost him $150 ($450-$300).

-
Anyone else have an issue with Ultimate Rewards points not being worth 1.5 cents when redeemed through their website as they advertise?
Care to elaborate on what led up to this question? Often the answer is in the question.
-
When I signed up for the Reserve, it advertised my 100,000 points to be worth $1500 travel when booked through the ultimate rewards website. (obviously the points can have much more value when transfered to partners but that is not what I am discussing)
However, when actually using the Ultimate Rewards website, particularly for hotels in my experience, the prices they list are often extremely inflated compared to other websites and directly with the hotel so instead of points being worth 1.5 cents each, in practice they are often more like 1 cent per point. In fact, when I pointed this out to the representative from the Chase travel center when asking for a match to the price listed or a credit in points to offset the difference, she suggested I cash out the points at 1 cent each and pay the lower amount by booking directly from the hotel.
This seems like false advertising but I have not heard to many other people having this issue.
-
I have found chase hotel prices to actually be cheaper frequently when you factor in tax.

Regardless of whether or not they are more expensive, as long as they are offering you 1.5 cents per point towards the dollar rate they are charging there is no problem with what they are advertising. You can choose whether or not you would like to book with them.

Couldn't find this (please direct me if it's in the thread)
I paid for an airfare change with the CSR, the payment was for the difference in fares.
Would this purchase allow me to be covered for the CSR travel insurance?
I called chase and they said no but I got the sense that the rep didn't know what they were talking about.

It does.
So I did apply for Nexus on Sunday and haven't received a credit on my Reserve. PM me for details to QP me $50.
Thanks.

Because he thinks so. Per FT on the Amex credit, credit has to come thru as $100/85 to qualify, $50+50=100 does not

I've searched all the threads and have not found the answer t these questions..i spologize if i missed it.
1. I believe I use this card to make united gift registry purchases...should i divide it by 3 $100 purchases?
2. does the registry pick up that i am using my own credit card to donate to my registry?
3. additionally once i have all this money on my registry do i have to use it all on myself, or can i use my account to book a ticket for my spouse and children?
Thanks!!!
-
A. If you convert into a CSR (from let's say a freedom), do you get the $300 benefit? B. If you then downgrade it back and upgrade back into it, does the $300 reset for that year?
I am assuming A yes and B no but wanted to check if anyone has tried this.

I SM'd chase. They responded by saying that the charges from CBP/TSA are coded. Essentially the credit hits the account if the charge matches the code.

Can't find a flight on the chase website - if I call will they be able to book for me and apply my points at 1.5 value?
I have personal experience with this exact issue. It depends on the airline. If the flights are on an airline that shows up in searches on the Chase portal - it should work.
If it's for an airline that does not - they won't be able to book the flight and you won't get the 1.5x bonus if you book direct with the airline. Air Serbia is an example of this. I found a great one-way J fare from AMS-TLV, but there was no way to book and enjoy the 1.5.

I've done it with jet blue & spirit (not that I couldn't find the flight, but it was more expensive on chase then the actual airline site, and they price matches it)

Will this card open the atm anteroom? Will any Chase CC unlock that door? I don't have a debit card to use.
I want to make a payment before the blizzard arrives.

Out my window the blizzard has already arrived.
You know you can make the payment on line from a bank account?
I heard any magnetic strip card opens the door.

Don't know if this has been previously reported, but Chase informed me that even if Priority Pass doesn't work at a specific lounge, I can pay for access with my Reserve and they will refund it to me, twice per calendar year. Haven't tested it out, and I don't know if it works automatically, though Chase customer service is excellent. Keep in mind, you generally need to pay for the lounge before you arrive there

You have to call and have them manually apply the refund and IINM it has to be a PP lounge although I may be wrong about that.

I saw in other forums people complaining that at some lounges they wouldn't let them in with "unlimited guests". Did anyone expirnce this ? If yes with how many guest and at which lounge?

A family member of mine traveled back home to Israel this Sunday with his wife and 4 kids. All of his 5 suitcases were delayed. He payed airfare with the Reserve, and called up Chase to hear about his benefits. They told him they will pay him $100 per person, per day, max of 6 days, minus any compensation he may get from the airline.
Now to the question: Today 4 out of the 5 suitcases arrived. Can he still spend and be reimbursed according to the above, or since most of his luggage arrived they will only reimburse part?

1 person ≠ 1 suitcase. Where does it stipulate that one cannot put two people's things into the same suitcase. Also, are you basing your assumption on anything?

Don't think there is much to elaborate on here...

1 - Is the Priority Pass membership from the Reserve card still allowing unlimited guests? (I only need to bring in two, besides myself).
2 - Is there a limit on how many lounge entries per year?

Yes. No.

Officially not, but the lounge themselves may sometimes have restrictions.

If you have an appointment for a different time, they might let you in.

They do allow unlimited guests. Each lounge reserves the right to set restrictions as they feel necessary.
-
What are the odds of getting the interview done without an appointment at EWR or JFK?
Seems like very unlikely as the woman who interviewed me looked through a detailed schedule to make sure everything matches, reservation number, personal info etc. But as user6669 mentioned, they may look aside. I was actually thinking that if I ever end up in JFK for any reason I would pop in to try my luck on that.

Friend of mine was trying to book a far on UA and called chase to book. He was told by the rep that the fare he is asking about is basic economy, and they have no access to BE flights on UA specifically. She said this is a new rule as of yesterday when an email was sent out. The flight does not appear in the travel portal either. Is this true? DROPR HUCA?

Anyone have a recent data point regarding AU's getting refund credit for global entry? I'm already getting it for me and my wife on each of our primary cards, hopefully before our trip to Israel in August. But if I don't get it for my kids, I won't be able to use it on this trip anyway. I'd get it for them too if I was getting reimbursed, but it sounds like it's for sure not automatic, and I'd probably have to fight with them on it - maybe even not getting the credit at all in the end.

It'll be regular lines for immigration but for Customs I've gone through with someone who has Global Entry before I had my own.

I agree. fast food has always posted as a restaurant - that shouldn't be a YMMV situation. Perhaps in some situations (fast food at an airport), it might be different but vast majority always post correctly

Don't think it's been talked about very much on here, but successfully used the trip delay insurance benefit from CSR due to weather issues in Dulles that caused an overnight for me a few weeks ago. Claim paid out ~$400 total ($500 is the limit per claim) for hotel, meals, uber. Great benefit and definitely worth booking on CSR for personal flights because of it.

It could, i've gotten reimbursed on completely seperate tickets booked with chase card. Haven't heard of any reports of them reimbursing cost of new air fare, but they can cover hotel, meals for that delay or cancellation costs if there is sufficient documentation

I think yes. Why do you have an AU? Rather just request a replacement card and then you'll have 2 cards that both work..

I added the AU a month after the original card was opened and luckily I didn't get charged AU fee for first year until just 3 days ago during renewal. Now I am charged $450 AF & $75 AU fee. I can cancel the AU to avoid the $75 fee but then even after the $300 credit, I still have to pay $175 AF which is bit too much for me. I wonder if I can double dip? If not, will have to cancel or do product change. Have 60 days to cancel or do product change to avoid the AF from the date it was charged?

I made travel purchase and got posted on Sept 2nd 2017 but today is 8th and no travel credit received! I was too early for to make the travel purchase to get the credit or
I just won't get credit this year? I am stuck with $450 AF?
Are you absolutely sure you did not receive the travel credit on earlier purchases made since your december statement closed? There are so many things that qualify.
Why don't you check how much you have left? Log in to ultimate rewards and it will tell you how much you used this year.
You can cancel the card this month and get the fee back.
-
I got conflicting answers on the travel credit. Some told me I am grandfathered and I should get another credit now some here are saying I won't get the credit.

Based on your Aug 2016 card opening, you likely are on the calendar year plan. yay
If your Sept 2nd purchase is totally legitimate, call or chat. It is definitely past time to get the credit.

I have to apologize here for writing about this few times and being wrong! Just realized that I did get 2nd year credit on Jan 2017 statement.
I knew this only after checking my Jan & Feb statement.
In the meantime I can't decide on keeping or canceling or converting. I have $75 AU & $450 AF fee charged on Sep 1. If I keep it, I may cancel the AU to save $75 fee , pay $450 & get $300 back in Jan so my AF becomes $150. I have ink plus card to be able to make point transfers. I like all the rewards benefits except for travel protection benefit where they refused and denied my canceled trip claim for amount of $250 even after all the proof and Chase Exec couldn't do anything either. I may just cancel it before Sept 31, the 30 days deadline

family member had to cancel non-refundable Broadway musical play tickets due to one of the family members going to hospital and cancelling her trip to nyc. Chase is saying play tickets are not covered. Any other options?

peace123,
Log into your Chase account and click on UR. Then choose SR. On that page you'll see your YOUR REWARDS DASHBOARD use of the $300 Annual Travel Credit.
It has a ribbon with the year and the amount used.

Booked 4 tix to EY using rewards points via SR. Is the trip insurance from the card the same as a basic Travelex plan? I assume the apt I am renting would not be covered as its not via SR? Thanks.

I tried several times to book the Prima Palace through the ultimate rewards program. Reps keep saying that it's not part of the program, and that they cannot add hotels as a third party vendor controls the list. They will put in a request to add this hotel.

Forgot to cancel card after year...AF charged 10/1, so I missed the 30-day window. If I downgrade does it get pro-rated, or did I just mess up completely, get the $300 travel credit for 2018 and take the $150 hit?
Any other options?

To clarify, "billing" means statement closing date that shows the fee (not when the fee posts on the 1st of the month).
So, the way I understand it, you have 30 days from the close of the statement in which the AF is billed.
Call to cancel today and ask if you are still eligible for a full refund of the AF. You may be.

Iv'e had the the CSR since January 2017 and added my wife as an authorized user. Our fee, therefore, is $525 per year. Shortly after the we got the card we used the $300 travel credit and TSA Pre-check credit. We spend around $25,000 a year on the card and about $2000 per year on travel dining, so throughout the past year we have accumulated 30,000 points. When we do travel, it is usually on Southwest, which means that we are traveling through smaller airports that do not have lounges. Do you think that it is worth it to keep the card open for next year?

Waste paying for the authorized user. Just ask for a plastic version and have your wife use that. It works for me.

What's the plastic version just the same thing with a plastic card instead of metal?
Do you get PP with the plastic version?

If you put that many miles on a southwest card, what would it be worth to you? Maybe you don't need this card at all.

How does one actually go about getting the National Executive status? I signed up with the Infinite code, but my account still seems to be standard Emerald Club.

You don't get national executive status with the CSR. You can use the infinite code for perks when renting, but it doesn't give you status.

I’m closing down my CSR in a about a month, I don’t plan on traveling at all before that. So I can’t make use of the 1.5 for travel, any advice on what I should do with my 20k points? Any better options than just using it for cash back? My only other chase card is a freedom, should I transfer my points to that card?any advice?

Yes transfer them to the Freedom and then you can use/sell them at a later date (maybe you’ll upgrade back to CSR or another card that’ll allow you to transfer to airline miles)

My sister got sick on a trip to israel, booked with UR from CSR. The benefits rep told us they would only refund the change fee charged by the airline, to change her return, not the difference in fare. Anyone know if that is the case. I know regular trip insurance will cover. I just had to change a trip for medical reasons and my insurance, Travel Insured, covered the whole thing, including the fare increase.

I called them they were

C. Get the necessary papers, and have them refund the what the second half costed.

They'll refund the cost of second leg, $450. If unused.
Not sure how they work with UR, but if you paid full amount with CC they should refund you in full the second leg.

Why is it $450, both ways aren't necessarily the same price.

If you decide not to use that ticket they'll probably pay you the full amount of the second leg, first they'll only pay you changing fee, after a year if the ticket is unused they'll refund the difference, if you just change the ticket they'll only pay the changing fee.

Yeah in the middle of booking w/ USAA, much cheaper than squaremouth for me ($48 for family of 4, 31 day trip)
plus, if you set the trip cost at 0, they still give $750 for travel interruption insurance, which is more than my tickets cost anyways.
(although since kids are free, I may as well put my sons trip cost at $650, so I can get 150%

Quick question:
With Sapphire Reserve, do I need to do something to get Priority Pass Lounge access or just show the card and get in?? I will receive the credit card tomorrow, and might be traveling internationally next weekend.
And for the travel credit of $300, if I am booking airline ticket, does that meet this requirement? And, if I spend $4100 (spend req is $4000), but that includes $300 for travel spend, and the I get travel credit for $300, does it still count towards spend requirement to get bonus?
Thanks.

1) Call Chase to order the the Priority Pass card, try to have them expedite (they would have to send a request to PP to send it with Fedex), if you don't get it in time you can pay for lounge entry with the credit card and call Chase to refund the entry fees (you can do this twice each year).
2) Yes.
3) Yes.

Thanks. Already sent a SM to Chase, hoping they will process it, waiting to hear back.

Any idea on what I can do?
Basically I just purchased a fridge from town Appliance, I had it delivered and connected and started using it and I realized that the fridge blocks my top cabinets from opening as well as having french doors and a pull-out freezer which is kind of annoying very unsatisfied with my purchase, is there any type of purchase protection or an ability to go ahead with a return of some type?
Would my credit card cover any such benefits? I wouldn't mind exchanging it.

Trying to get a price protection claim in before the benefit is removed on 8/26. An item I bought on Amazon is $60 less on eBay. Will Chase deny the claim because it is considered an auction site, even though the item is only available as a Buy It Now item?
From the benefits guide:
"Advertisements posted on the Internet, by a non-Auction Internet merchant with a valid tax identification number....
Auction (online or live) – a place or Internet site where items are sold through bidding or price quotes; or where prices fluctuate based on the number of people interested in purchasing or attempting to purchase a product. (Examples include, but are not limited to, eBay, Ubid, Yahoo, and public or private live auctions.)"
The price doesn't fluctuate because it's a Buy It Now and not an auction item, but do they categorically exclude all of eBay regardless?

I do not have the CSR card, but I am sure it is similar to the Amex Platinum, which I used a couple of times, pretty fast service, on both occasions they arrived in around 30 minutes, of course depends on time of day, city you are in etc.

Turned out there was severe weather and flood warnings during the time of pickup. An RV was definitely not a safe place to shelter.. I'm currently waiting for the response.
While filing the claim it asked for flight info, they told me on the phone to put fictitious, info and to write the details by the summary, but the letter count is quite difficult to cram the details in...

While filing the claim it asked for flight info, they told me on the phone to put fictitious, info and to write the details by the summary, but the letter count is quite difficult to cram the details in...
Good luck. The above reasons are more than good enough.

How good is the roadside assistance? Do they come quickly? Any data points on this

Anyone know where/how I can find past weather reports/nws warnings etc.. having difficulty getting this info.. (at the time I had documentation, but figured it would be easy enough to Google..)

I need to book a car rental. Which card gives better car rental collision waiver protection: Chase Sapphire Reserve/American Express?
If Amex does it need to be a travel card specifically or any Amex?

For car rentals in Israel, what letter do i need to request from Chase to show that i don't need to pay anything for insurance?

It did for me.
I was looking on Chase Travel for a specific CX flight that I found on Priceline. They had other CX flights but not that one. WHen I called it they found my flight at the same price as Priceline and booked it for me over the phone.

Did they ask for it? I never gave anything. Just make sure that they let you decline all coverages, some car rentals require you take some coverage from them. In those cases I used to rather pay for full coverage from the rental.

Hi, not the right thread, but how much are Chase Ultimate Rewards worth in $?
FTFY..
To answer your question, it depends what you’re looking to do with them. Selling them, they’re currently worth around 1.3 depending on the amount. If you have a CSR and use them for travel they’re worth 1.5.
-
I'm assuming not, but if I booked a trip for my wife and kids on my CSR, and I'm the primary, wife isn't an AU, can I use the health insurance if I didn't travel with them?

I wouldn't count on them covering anything if it's a weather related cancellation. They'll probably refund you the cost of the trip which the airline would usually do anyway if you ask them to.
I hope to be told I'm wrong.
You should be able to Google it easily.

No, just plain too sick to fly..
Although my guess is it shouldn't be too difficult to get some letter from a doctor...
I guess the main question is does it make a difference if it's taken care of before departure time or doesn't make a difference?

Does not matter if a few days after, I had a similar experience, 6 tickets, I broke my shoulder a few days before the flight, got a letter from the doctor saying he suggested to me not to fly for at least a month, so for an illness will work out too.

Anyone know if a Root Canal would be covered under "Emergency Medical and Dental Benefit"?

how do i get the IHG reservation number from a CSR booking? the number on chase is not the IHG number
-
Which agrees withAnd not
I am not talking about CDW coverage. I was talking about a basic basic basic insurance that is included in your bill. If you try reserving a car online (cheap car rentals.com), this is not included in the price as advertised. It is often also included in the base rate which is included in your contract. Sometimes the daily rate ends up being more expensive than originally thought.
It is just a generalization and maybe doesn't happen to everyone and might depend on which car rental agent or company you go through.

I want to verify my understanding of CSR lost luggage benefit. If the airline lost a bag with 5k of items inside, and paid me 3k for it, Chase will pay another 2k? If the airline only reimburses 1k, Chase will pay max of 3k?
They ask if a report was filed with police. Is that necessary?
Anything else to know or be careful about regarding filing the claim?

Quick Question:
My statement closed for 2019 on December 24th. That day I purchased a 150$ GC from delta but I forgot to use their desktop site as dan suggests I. Order to get credit for my travel credit but chase did not give me the refund. Is there anyway I can get this resolved. I had exactly 150$ left for the year and I don’t want the GC if it won’t count towards the travel.
Thanks

As I said, batching. If delta didn't batch the payments until after the statement closed, it's possible it would hit the next one. It's also possible that what we you did didn't code as travel.

Do they reimburse return shipping?
Do they only extend the return window? Or also provide return protection for an item that was final sale?
Any other important points?

Had to return the item to a third party warehouse, no shipping reimbursement for shipping the item to them.
Thank you

Same experience, quite a pain as compared to AMEX.

If I am originally from NY and currently live in Canada but all of my applications and statements are using my NY address, am I considered out of country when in Canada?
I see that the Reserve card comes with Emergency Medical and Dental Benefit when travelling abroad and was wondering if I'm entitled to in when in Canada. If not, am i entitled to it when traveling to the US?

My primary address is in NY but I actually live in Canada. Is that something that would make them deny the claim? Or even get me in some kind of trouble for filing a false claim?

I actually have a Peloton, and will be happy to use this benefit. It represents real dollars for me. Guessing I'm very much in the minority, though.

Looks like it's automatic if it's your payment method on Peloton, but not if you purchased through app stores.

for doordsh credit:
if i purchase on 12/31, does it automatically credit back when it posts?
can i purchase for a later date too? when is it billed- at time order is placed or on date of delivery?

post date is all important. sometimes charges get stuck in pending status, though it often will backdate to when you made the purchase.
should be billed when order is placed regardless of delivery date.

Flight was canceled due to snow blizzard, paid additional day for car rental. Flight tickets purchased entirely with miles and travel bank, but car rental paid with the CSR. Will I get reimbursed for the additional day cost?

As per the terms and conditions I believe the extra rental day is not eligible for coverage
