UA. Not transfering for this as I have no need unless someone can find 3+ on the longhaul. EY confirmed the space for me. EY transfers are supposed to be instant, but I've had them fail before.

Just booked a OW JFK-BRU @ 18.3 + $65
Transfer was instant

Def a HUCA sitch
EF shows RT avail for my dates
Call #1 only saw bad avail (much later than I wanted) for return and nothing for way in and refused to book OW either way
Call #2 saw my inbound date but not outbound. Successfully booked a OW at half and put waitlist for inbound.

FWIW, just for science, I booked a leg that UA showed avail, but AC and EF did not.

UA confirmed, but hasn't ticketed. I'm sure it won't.

What usually happens in that scenario?

Im not sure EY pulls from the same inventory as the rest. As for why UA is showing more inventory than EF, I can't answer that.

Unofficially they allow one ways, so I'm sure with enough HUCA you can get mixed cabin

How does that prove they support BDS? They got requests to stop buying a product, stopped buying it without understanding the full controversy and then reinstated the product.
Talk to me when their FA's start handing out BDS pamphlets.

The free flight is when you use miles to fly instead of handing them $700 for the flight.

On a side note, I don't remember seeing chalva on a UA, AC or any other flight that is not LY.

That doesn't mean it usually takes 2-3. It could 4-5 hours on the phone to get this done. You might as well give it a try but it might not be worth the time.

I was able to test book a OW JFK-BRU-TLV,

as others have mentioned dealing with the EY call center is like the wild west, each agent have their own set of rules & I actually found that the indian agent in AUH was more competent then the ones in manchester.

The maddening part is that theres no way of knowing what availability EY has access to. It doesn't match ExpertFlyer, AC or UA

I actually found that even SQ wasn't matching UA availability which leads me to suspect the problem lies with SN

I booked a flight in March for jfk-bru-tlv unfortunately the first leg was only available in economy so I booked it. My second leg bru-tlv is business. The agent claimed that I need 2 separate bookings which she made for me. My questions are:
1. How do I insure that my baggage goes to tlv from jfk (without having to recheck).
2. Can my award flight be upgraded to business? I am mainly concerned with utilizing the extra piece of luggage.
Thanks in advance for any info.

There is no guarantee! I have been denied that request before. They have no obligation to check your bags through on separate PNR's and every right to say no.

The discourteous and crass response that is slowly turning DDF into a cesspool of hostility.
That's the way you understood it.

The guy asked how he can be sure that they will check his bag through and my response was that there is no way to ensure that. He bought the trip as 2 separate tickets in order to save miles and the trade-off is that he may have to recheck his bag. BTW I have done the same thing in the past and had to recheck and even tough it was annoying, I accepted it as the cost of saving those miles.

I hope that in chaim0m's case things work out and he will be spared the annoyance and enjoy a safe and pleasant flight.

They have no obligation but no problem for doing so either, so why they will refuse?
Especially in business class they will be more likely to help..

How does that prove they support BDS? They got requests to stop buying a product, stopped buying it without understanding the full controversy and then reinstated the product.
that's not what it seems like. They pulled back because if pressure. But they still support bds.
And using miles isn't free. It's a paid ticket.

What if they rejected bds but caved due to pressure? Would that be better?

Anyone? I'm in the same boat.
You can borrow MR points from Amex, the most points you can borrow if I remember correctly is 80000 on the Platinum, I did this last year.

Looks like you're new here. Biz class on the short run is economy class, same seat. Waste of miles.

Yes.
similar IT glitches happen with other airlines.
Sometimes in those cases after awhile they deduct the miles.
Sometimes they never do.

I would use the miles to book another ticket soon, and test my luck.

In how long is the first flight?

I don't think there really is a way to do that.
I've had them give me different availability then what I've seen on UA, EF, AC for better, and for worse.

http://www.etihadguest.com/en/spend-miles/airline-partners/airberlin/

Can't find chart organically on website. This (http://www.etihadguest.com/Documents/Etihad%20Guest/member%20benefits/EYG00020_Brussels%20Airlines_Redemption%20Table.pdf) link from DDMS post (http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/87361) still works...
