They haven't done that in many years.  What they arguably do is release Android features but better implemented and easier to use.

Different this time time around, totally ditching fingerprint touch ID for face recognition is actually a step in a new direction

Most contracts don't give discounts anymore.

This phone is going to sell like hot cakes. They could of charged $1.5k and it'd sell like hot cakes.

Onm y S8 face recognition requires you to remove your glasses, so it's not really for me. I think Apple makes thing best, even if they copy others. Lets see how it works. usually they don;t release a technology unless it's 100% perfected.

Seemed like there's some type of light for that.

Seems like the features the x has over the 8 are the full screen which created a need for a new unlocking system - face id - which created the need for that selfie camera. I've been using and upgrading my iPhone for a bunch of years already & I'm really not impressed. Besides for the camera the big addition (this year, not only the x) is the wireless charging which you'll prob have to shell out another nice chunk of cash. (Yes I checked the x ships with whatever iPhones have been shipping with until now.

This Steve Jobs worship is just ridiculous. In the early years Apple created what was basically a brand new device. It's only normal the the improvements would get less and less significant as time goes on... That says nothing about Tim Cook or however else is in charge...after all it's only a phone...

Your belief is totally off..
The stock literally takes a dip the second the phone is announced every single year, and it stays down for a while, it only starts going back up when strong pre-order numbers start surfacing in news reports.

The drop has nothing to do with being "unimpressed" with the release, it has everything to do with "buy the rumor sell the news".

The stock kept on cracking all time highs the last few months solely because of iPhone X rumors, the rumors ended today, and the stock took a breather, that's all.

Not really.
Developing proprietary tech --> forcing everybody to use it --> huge demand --> collect royalties from 3rd party manufacturers, is how they usually roll.

Losing faith in Apple. It's possible they didn't manage to develop their own charging tech.

Not running to buy the new 8/X. Afraid it won't work well. They are bowing down to pressure to release new models with no innovation.

If only they'd improve the MacBook Air line, it's about time.

A joke is like a frog...

When you dissect it, it dies.

Get it? Just like a frog dies when you dissect it, so does a joke when you explain it. Basically, the frog is used as an analogy, to help people understand that jokes shouldn't be explained, because the joke will die, or more specifically, become unfunny. So, just like when a frog dies when you dissect it, so does a joke when you dissect, or explain it.
