I will be staying there in a few weeks. I heard it's very nice. Would love to get feedback from people who were already there.

I just booked two rooms for two nights in February, with 3,000 WR points and $65 per room per night.
Seems that the rooms are on the small side.
Buffet breakfast is included.
Location is hard to beat.
Revenue rate is $334/night, so pretty good value, I think.

Best option is their credit card by Barclay. There are two versions a free one that gives 15,000 points and the one that a has a yearly fee of $75 but offers you a 30,000 points.

do they show availability online? or did you have to call to book with points? I tried checking few dates from dec to feb and they have no availability

I would say call or email them.

I called Wyndham Rewards to book.

How much does 3k points cost (when buying from wyndham)?

I called Wyndham Rewards to book.
Did it work? Was availability that you could not find online open over the phone?

Online showed no availability on the TRYP website. But on the WR website, it said “call”, so I called and booked.

I called, there were some dates that the rep said there's no availability.

We have two nights in February. Two rooms, actually.
-
Saw that rates in February are much lower than I previously saw, like $135 IIRC, including breakfast.
-
Called them for a stay in January. They offer standard rooms for 15,000 points (Go Free) or 3,000 points + $65 (Go Fast). You can buy up to 5,000 points a year and gift another 5,000 points. (http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-2164838-11836336) Dont know if you can use multiple accounts to gift to one account. Rate is 1.1cpp So standard room for those dates were $98.
Premier Deluxe Room was offered at $120 mid-week and $165 for Friday-Sunday. Not bad at all. Leonardo Plaza across street wanted $250 a night for same nights.

Can someone gift points to you if you've already bought 5K?

It seems so. I wasnt going to waste money on the points if the upgraded room is just $20 more.

Do they offer that rate on $199 dates?
-
Do they offer that rate on $199 dates?
I believe its the same rate for every day 3k+$65
My understanding is that the only difference is the cash portion which can be anywhere from $25-$75 at different properties. This one is $65. I was quoted the same rate for the more expensive dates as well.

Sounds like an amazing deal for peak dates.

Still not clear if you can purchase 5,000 + receive 5,000 or that it can't be more than 5,000 altogether?

Exactly

You can buy 5k a year and you can be gifted 5k a year
9k gets you 3 nights for $99 +195
roughly $98 a night
for longer stays you would have to have 2 reservations or open the CC for 30k

So I shared now shush
Good point. This seems to be in line with Dan's protocol and reasonable. He shared on DDF but is asking that it not be made into a DDMS post if I am understanding correctly.

Not that many people have TYP and even if they do its pretty complicated to book, while this is very easy to get a few thousand points and its very simple to book.

you cannot gift yourself from another account after you purchase...
2 phone reps said i can receive 5,000 after purchasing 5,000.

I tried it with different names... and when I tried to do it reverse it only allowed me to gift 2 because I had already bought 3...

so gift the account before you purchase

Anyone know if they are mehadrin?

I think DDMS would kill this

Surprised there isnt more talk of the 3k wyndham move, i used it in the israeli 4 star level (there is obv a difference) Ramada Netanya, which has a kosher enough for me Lechem ubasar and cafe greg like 2 minutes away by the island hotel. The ramada netanya was 3k +55 per night for $300 suites with living rooms, plus a decent pool and water views.

We recently got back from a 5 night stay with kids in 2 rooms. Rooms are tiny even for European standards. They gave us superior rooms and if there is a lower category than that I probably would not fit in! The wall between the room and bathroom is all glass with the bottom 2/3rds being darkened. There is no lock on the glass door. If you leave the bathroom light on for shabbos it will be way to light in the room so we put the night table lamp in the bathroom and kept the light off. Rain Shower is amazing with a lot of pressure. They have a really nice rooftop sitting area (not a bar). Breakfast was OK but I’ve had better in Israel. Hashgacha is Rabbinut (not mehadrin) but there is a mashgiach who put a sign and warned us that a few cakes were not chalav yisroel. They have coffee, tea & juice available all day in a room off reception area. Location cannot be better!!! Parking is 50 shekel per day.
All in all it’s a very good value in the best location if using the "Go Fast" option but it’s definitely not for you if you are looking for a luxury hotel experience like the WAJ, Citidel or even the Plaza!!

Hope this is the right place for a review of our 1 night stay at the hotel, didn't feel that it qualified as a TR just a quick getaway.
DW and I decided to take a short vacation for a day and we thought the central location of the hotel would be perfect. Booked 3k+$65 the executive room. We arrived at 4:45pm (check in from 3pm) we noticed the majority of the guests were Israeli not too many tourist maybe because of the time of the year. Check in took a few minutes as there was a line, when it was our turn I asked if I could get an upgrade to the Bat Sheva Suite, I explained that I wrote an email but did not receive a response. The receptionist seemed very nice and spent about 3 minutes clicking away, eventually she said there is one room which is not occupied but for some reason not open for occupancy, she said we could come later and possibly switch given the short nature of our stay we decided to skip that option. about 5pm we go to the room it was clean elegant and had a complimentary bottle of water + some choclates, it was definitely on the small side despite being the biggest room except the suite (according to website 20sqm). There was some issue with bolting the door so we called the desk to fix it, took quite a while for them to come.
The room was on a high floor (8/9) and we had a terrific view from the window (no balcony). As mentioned by @BrooklynCPA the bathroom does not allow for much privacy and the lighting situation is not good for shabbos, the shower was terrific with amazing pressure plus the amenities were very good dead sea products. One thing which we did is to go onto the roof to see the 'historic Jerusalem' view which truly is amazing better than anything I have seen at other hotels, you can see the old city and other directions a real panoramic view of the city, truthfully I would recommend simply going there even if you are not a guest, take the elevator to the 9th floor and you have a fantastic view. The TV is the ususall Israeli garbage with limited options, would recommend bringing your own stuff if you want to watch, you can always connect with an HDMI cable.
In the morning we went to breakfast, the first thing I did was ask to speak to mashgiach, the Arab waiter said he will check, I said is he around and he replied that he was supposed to be but he has a tendency of 'disappearing' (not a good sign IMO), he wasn't there. I spoke with the chef and clarified where the products were from (he was Jewish but did not seem frum). In terms of whether you should eat there ask your LOR I just present to you my experience.
The food was terrific with a great selection of cheeses and cooked items (haloumi skewers)no complaints here, a nice selection of breads etc.
An anecdote - at breakfast if you look at the wall outside there is a beautiful but rather risque quote from sefer shmuel the story of Bat Sheva I guess they took the name seriously...also alluding to the hotels view (in that Dovid Hamelech saw Bat Sheva bathing from his view), make what you want of that...
I am posting a link to my pictures so you can get a sense of what it looks like as well as some of the views (I was not successful in inserting the pictures into the review)

I am posting a link to my pictures so you can get a sense of what it looks like as well as some of the views (I was not successful in inserting the pictures into the review)

i'm looking to book a night in the tryp- jerusalem. (current rate for that night 149$)
i don't have a wyndham account, i see something about 'go fast'?
can someone help me and guide me how to book this the cheapest rate.
thanks
-
No. Just read the thread and figure it out. Its very simple.
-
@Chaim018 Thanks for the TR.
Very practical info.
-
Has anyone been able to book a revenue stay at the TRYP Jerusalem with Visa Checkout? I don't see it a payment option.

"starting tomorrow (Tuesday, February 13, 2018) they are adjusting two aspects of how they sell points. Specifically:
Wyndham Rewards will be increasing the limit on purchased and transferred points from 5,000 points per year to 10,000 points per year
Wyndham Rewards will be increasing the cost per purchased point from $11 per 1,000 purchased points to $13 per 1,000 purchased points"

I still don't get the big deal. This stupid "hide common knowledge from everyone besides me" mentality is ridiculous.

Right, hide the fact that every room is bookable for $65 plus 3k points all year including summer and sukkos is stupid.

It was posted in this thread so it wasnt hidden and Dan didnt post it to DDMS for months. So it worked out well. Now lets see how long it lasts.

i was thinking of renting out the whole hotel for succos
at $100 a night per room.
then i can charge people double for the rooms

Yeah it seemed like a US queen sized bed, although I didn't measure or anything...
Was breakfast extra or included when points were used to purchase?

Was looking to book a points room for Shabbos HaGadol, but not seeing availability. So then I started checking a bunch of dates, and could not find a single date that had a free night award, searching various random dates in the next year.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there better availability if I call to book? Any suggestions? I'd go for cash and points or straight points.
TIA

I would say call or email them.
I called Wyndham Rewards to book.
Online showed no availability on the TRYP website. But on the WR website, it said “call”, so I called and booked.

..
PUTPAC - same thing happened to me and when I called they dates were open.

Not anymore!
In a very Wyndham-typical move, they completely devalued the Go Fast (C&P) program without notice a few days ago.
It's now tied to the paid rate for the given night and basically offers something like a 35% discount on the paid rate in exchange for 3K points.
Plus, not all hotels even offer the Go Fast rate at all. For instance the Ramada Netanya has not Go Fast availability for the next few months at least.

I am not sure that is true, it is possible that it's a function of peak season vs. off season. I noticed that as well...

Glad I booked Succos when I did! :)
-
They definitely killed it.
Used this extensively
the wyndham card gives 45k points at times, thats 15 room nights at 3k plus $65 each
at netanya ramada got 4 people in suite room which is normally $400 or more during high season
includes breakfast (if you eat the hashgacha) which is awesome and rivals the waldorf
was never sure why on ddf people didnt like the ramada much, i think it's a very decent hotel
fun while it lasted

Thanks, just bought two! Also, above everyone is whining (I know it was a year ago...lol) about them changing the points + cash deal but now that the Tryp is only 7500 points a night and only $87.50 a night TOTAL that's WAY better! Enjoy the NEW smokin' deal now since the other one is gone!
When the Wyndham offers a 45k bonus @shmooz mentioned below, I'll plan to get that card too... six nights right next to Rechavia sounds great to me! If anyone sees that deal come up, please post in this thread.
Thanks @Dan for contributing to another amazing vacation for my family!

Yes, we stayed there for the last days of Succos last year. They have a sukkah where they serve breakfast every morning but they don't offer any other meals.
-

And the reason they don't show availability when adding and 3rd person is because the rooms are incredibly small and cant accommodate a 3rd person so you should call the hotel to inquire about the infant.

I get that I have stayed there multiple times, I just feel like (maybe unjustifiably), if the infant is not taking up any significant amount of space (sleeps with parents, or in small space) and does not eat, why then is it the hotels concern if they are present?

That's why I suggested that you just call the hotel. I can't imagine it will be an issue.

It probably isn't and they most likely won't care. If the infant is going to sleep with you then I can't see them having an issue its just that the hotel may really want people to know that there really isn't any room for any other bedding (even a crib).

Because rooms are teency tiny (200 sqft) and it's not a full service hotel, no pool, restaurants, Shabbos meals, etc. They just serve breakfast (like a Hampton Inn does)...lol. That's why it's so few points as well. I think people DO book here like crazy on points but it's not an aspirational redemption. It's got a great location and seems to do the job perfectly for people who come often, visiting family, etc. but not for the trip of a lifetime or people living in Israel that want a beautiful Shabbos or Yom Tov experience with meals.

Can totally do that. If I stay for Shabbat, I'll probably book at least one Shabbos meal at the Waldorf because I like them there and at least I'll get 14ppd with my Aspire card.

Wow
So what about the first and last days of succos ?
First days will be at friend's and since I have a full week Cert, I have the Ritz through last days but we'll probably leave most of our stuff there and also go to friends because it will be more fun for the kids to have Simchas Torah in a frumer environment and not in a hotel. :) Last year I was able to book afull 10 days at the WAJ before they blocked it but honestly it was too much for my kids with all the set meals in the hotels, was expensive (just for the food), and it wasn't as fun. When we went to friends for Simchas Torah last year they were so happy to be with friends, have toys and have "normal" food...lol. I know we are weird (or my kids are just spoiled) but I had Pesach all set this year in FL and had booked Pesach next year at the WAJ and we ended up at home this Pesach and I cancelled for next year because my kids really like to not be in a hotel on Chag.
-
I am about ready to book this for 2 nights. But the room capacity is for 2 adults max. Will they give me a problem if a bring my kids (ages 4,3,1)?

Will they allow an adult and 2 young kids in a room?

As a data point: We fit a pack and play and two of my older kids (3,4) slept on blankets on the floor. So we fit 5 in one room. Cant say we fit comfortably because the mattresses were horrible and there is a flashing red light on the ceiling, but the size was manageable.
-
Wyndham's website is showing ZERO availability for this hotel. When you go on the Tryp Jerusalem website for the hotel itself, it shows available (as does all third party booking sites). Did they stop allowing you to book through Wyndham? And most importantly, award stays?

DP:
On checkin had a long argument with rep who wanted to charge me VAT as an Israeli citizen on a points stay since in the system it shows that there is some trnasaction with Wyndham, long story short I didnt sign anything about paying and they checked me in, on checkout a different rep said there is no charge because its a points stay. Was aggravating even without the charge.

Dp - Had one room with a packnplay was fine, they didnt seem to mind me bringing it in. Second room used inflateable mattress for kid (5) was also fine.

Does anyone know why theyre not showing any availability at this hotel with points (or money for that matter, unless booked on external site)?

I just did a Wyndham timeshare presentation today (Sunday) in NYC and they give 30k points for it. As annoying as the timeshare sales lady was, all I had to do was sit and listen for 2 hours, and I got the points. I booked my 2 nights already. Psyched!

After seeing all the confusion online, I decided to double check my booking. Apparently the idiot rep on the phone booked me for a Ramada hotel, not the TRYP hotel.
I called back to complain, and they say that "they dont have any availability at the TRYP at this time". This stinks :'(
I'm going to Israel in late June, so I have time and will keep checking with them to see if anything opens up.
Also, I've been asked by a member for info on how to book the timeshare presentation: I'm not sure if this is against DDF rules so feel free to take down my post if it is in violation. The guy's name was Abe (Pretty sure he's Jewish). Phone # 917-648-9435

Anyone have any update on this hotel - I'm supposed to be staying here in a month on points, but the fact that there's no availability, no breakfast (booked a long time ago when they were providing breakfast on points), and no one answers at their email address (have tried a couple times) makes me uncomfortable staying here. How are they filling up the hotel with no availability on Wyndham's website?

There's tons of availability on their own (tryp jerusalem's) site and all third party websites. Apparently they are just not bookable on Wyndham for some reason.

why is the hotel against points bookings ?

Same - are there some decent breakfast places within a couple minute walk of the hotel that aren't too expensive?
Here is the response i received from them on FB:
"Breakfast is included in the price that we offer on the website, but since you are redeeming your points, in this case the breakfast is not included, and you will get your room without any meals."
I also booked while it was still included, but doesn't seem like they care. Debating if I should switch hotels, the value is just so good on points, but might be worth switching to a bigger, nicer hotel that comes with breakfast.

I recently tried booking with price line and I called them and they told me that there is no availability period. When I called the hotel itself they confirmed there are rooms available. So somethings not right in the system.
BTW while its a nice hotel, and have friendly service with tea, coffee and a complimentary breakfast, the lobby and standard rooms are teeny, I barely got my stroller through the door. Also, the bathroom is literally right next to the bed with glass door, a little blacked out on the bottom portion of it, so It can get really awkward etc. The towels they provide match the room size. The rain shower is cool though. I dont think i would go back.

BTW while its a nice hotel, and have friendly service with tea, coffee and a complimentary breakfast, the lobby and rooms are teeny, I barely got my stroller through the door. Also, the bathroom is literally right next to the bed with glass door, a little blacked out on the bottom portion of it, so It can get really awkward etc. The towels they provide match the room size. The rain shower is cool though. I dont think i would go back.
Thanks! Availability actually just opened up today on points so I want to book just in case as a backup. Do you know if they allow a one night stay for shabbos and checkout after shabbos or require that you stay motzai shabbos as well?

There's points availability over all of Pesach 2020, if that's helpful to people.

So instead maybe ask them what is the fee for a late checkout on Saturday? It might be reasonable and not be the charge of another full night.

Also next Sukkot has points availability. Wyndham is also have this "Stay 2 Nights or More and Save Up to 25%" sale through the end of February. I just went on the site to hopefully book some points nights during Hannukah but I ended up just paying and saving my points because it was $111 per night for Dec. 24-26. Hopefully, since it's it's a paid stay, I'll get breakfast included during this stay. :P

Do you have a link for the "Stay 2 Nights or More and Save Up to 25%" promotion?

Same - are there some decent breakfast places within a couple minute walk of the hotel that aren't too expensive?
Groupon recently had vouchers for 69 shekel, similar to the 20pp someone posted
they have for some other nearby hotels as well
Or lots of cafe's have breakfasts in the center of town and mamilla

Mine just showed up when I searched for 2 nights and it worked just now again when I searched again on their regular website (now that promo price for Dec. 24-26 is $119 but still a smokin' deal). When I googled the promotion, it gave me this site, which does explain all the terms of the promotion, so you can use this:
https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/en-uk/hotel-deals/winter-savings (https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/en-uk/hotel-deals/winter-savings)
Here are some details (bolding is mine):
1. The Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Winter Promotion 2019/2020 (the “Promotion”) is a discount of up to 25% off the Best Available Rate per room per night at participating Wyndham Hotels & Resorts hotels in Europe, the Middle East, Eurasia and Africa. The Promotion is applicable for bookings made between 15 October 2019 and 29 February 2020 on stays between 01 November 2019 and 06 March 2020 at participating Wyndham Hotels & Resorts hotels.
2. To qualify for the discount of up to 25% off the Best Available Rate per room, bookings must be for a minimum stay of 2 consecutive nights. There is no maximum length of stay.

Looks like they recently raised their rates. Was looking last week and was only 7.5k a night, now it's showing 15k per night.

Although it’s a huge bummer, I also just checked and yup they are all showing 15k, so thanks for posting. I also just made some bookings at 7.5k just over a week ago so they must have just devalued it.

What are people doing about stays that need to be canceled, in regards to them doubling the amount of points required?

The general manager emailed me that the hotel will be closed during the duration of my scheduled stay. I responded stating I would like them to reschedule my stay as it's not my fault they're closed and their points went up so I cannot cancel and rebook. She responded that the hotel cannot do anything and I should contact Wyndham directly.
