Had a KE fight that left Friday 10:00 AM and arrived 10:00 AM in NY. Chabad Shaliach in Seoul (great Guy) told me that I might be flying on shabbos. I checked that website and sure enough it flew upwards to Russia and flew thru shabbos for approx 15 minutes. Not to get into details, but my Rov told me its ok based on numerous circumstances (not for now) and in the future I should be careful about booking such a flight.
Flight hits Shabbos on the way, prob a no-no for most.Cna you explain how to read that chart? how can you tell when its shabbos?

Cna you explain how to read that chart? how can you tell when its shabbos? If the plane flies exactly on the great circle and if it leaves exactly on time, then shkia will begin 4 hr and 33 min into the flight.
If the plane flies exactly on the great circle and if it leaves exactly on time, then shkia will begin 4 hr and 33 min into the flight. So you’ll be flying on shabbos?
On a side note, I met what appeared to be a serious frum elderly couple, who the husband was sitting and learning the whole time and she woudnt look at me etc, and I told him this flight flies on shabbos, and he replied that I dont know what Im talking about. I tod him Chabad Rabbi who lives here knows this flight and told me it flies on shabbos and we verified it by tracker. "Eh, you know Chabad rabbis and their mishagasin"...(im sure he had no problem eating by chabad rabbis)
I showed hm on Google that the Star K has a whole article about such flights and specifically quotes this KE flight...."Eh Star K Modern Orthodox Rabbis, what do they know")
Oh well, sometimes you just go tot know when to give up and let them win their arguments...
You are right if you fly over a place where is Shabbat you just have to be seated and avoid to do any meluchaIt's not simple at all to know when exactly Shabbos ends and begins with timeline issues. You're really going to remain seated for 5-12 hours on a TPAC flight?
You are right if you fly over a place where is Shabbat you just have to be seated and avoid to do any melucha
Why remain seating? That wasn't part of his stipulation.Well, opening the door to the suite can be an issue. Going to the bathroom, taking a shower, moving the seat, sometimes opening the tray. There are many parts of a plane that have sensors.
Well, opening the door to the suite can be an issue. Going to the bathroom, taking a shower, moving the seat, sometimes opening the tray. There are many parts of a plane that have sensors.
I see your point. But you wouldn't have to sit, just avoid melacha. Not so easy if you do more than sit. How will you get out of the suite?

If your movie is on from before shabbos, you should just stay in your seat and continue to watch the movie.Same thing if you're watching in your home or does it have to be on a plane? ???
But what happens when you need to use the bathroom? Seems like a terrible plan.Doesn't your link show that it's only Shabbos for around 20 minutes? I'd think anyone can plan around that..
Not so easy if you do more than sit. How will you get out of the suite?
If your movie is on from before shabbos, you should just stay in your seat and continue to watch the movie. That's the (PC) spirit
You can move around in the suite .Or, you can hold the bathroom door shut (or don't, just can't lock it.) and don't flush
For a bathroom, you can bring along a brief relief if you have a private suite.
Doesn't your link show that it's only Shabbos for around 20 minutes?-1. Read again.

Does DL TLV-JFK saver with hidden city exist at all these days?Yes.
Yes.
I've noticed CLE-JFK-TLV is cheaper than JFK-TLV in the past.
I'm talking about Y.

For an award ticket it's usually the same. Not with Skypesos (semi revenue based). Also not with married segments, that can open better availability or fare buckets.

Is there a new trend at UA with releasing awards a day or two before flights to/from TLV?yes.
Is there a new trend at UA with releasing awards a day or two before flights to/from TLV?
yes.In which case that is no longer rare.
A day or two is not rare? I guess a lot of people could just pick themselves up the last minute and leave? If the availablity is for further out then it is rare. If it is only for a day or two out then it is not rare and does not need to be posted in the rare availability thread.

I guess a lot of people could just pick themselves up the last minute and leave?Or book in advance an option with a stopover, and then change last minute to a direct if it opens.
Or Or book in advance an option with a stopover, and then change last minute to a direct if it opens. How much is the change fee?
How much is the change fee?Booked with UA, no status, close in change = $125.
Booked with UA, no status, close in change = $125.Would they refund any difference in miles?
Booked with UA, no status, close in change = $125.With UA you would get 10k back
Or if you are booked with a partner, then whatever their change policy is.
Wide open availibility AA F JFK-LAX and LAX-JFK.
Should be bookable with IB for 96k RT.
J availablity is still quite scarce.
Did I make a mistake? Is this actually not rare?
Has been available for a long time.I have even more questions now. Why hasn't it been discussed for a long time. Especially with this IB promo...

Twitter alerts are the way to go.
Thanks!
Didn't see the post, Telegram seems to be screwed up again.
Twitter alerts are the way to go.Agreed. But when I see something I want to read but not just yet I have to let it sit there and clog up my notification bar. When I don't look for a few hours I can have hundreds of notifications sitting there.
IAD-TLV many dates in business class.they didn't leave a single seat in neither J or Y
Twitter alerts are the way to go.Twitter alerts are also screwy today. Didnt get the wide open J post.

Interesting. Open a Twitter support question?Nah, just pay attention to DDF because I knew about it before you posted it. ;D
Delta so screwed up that for 8/28 shows no saver awards for TLV-JFK (130K points showing) but partner award available for Y on Airfrance and VSDelta is pricing it’s saver at 130k that day. They consider for their pricing other elements such as the fare, despite releasing seats to partners.
....BUT... UA to Israel is 180K a way, I simply can't pay that. I know for a fact there is a way to force saver space to 75K one way. Dan bragged about it once when...
Might be through having a United explorer card, having that card or a better United card, opens up extended award spaces (meaning you can book tickets for less miles and for and you have more days that you can book tickets using miles)Dosent help for J.
I suspect someone here can help. I am willing to pay $10,000 for this secret, and am promising not to share it with anyone.
Might be through having a United explorer card, having that card or a better United card, opens up extended award spaces (meaning you can book tickets for less miles and for and you have more days that you can book tickets using miles) or you can search Dansdeals for the words "plan b" basically that's a way to get a ticket in business/first class even when United doesn't show on their website any availability for miles (they don't always allow you to book tickets using miles, it's called award space [that's what Dan posts when there is rare availability, meaning flights that almost never have tickets available to buy with miles])Uh, no
All this info I have you here I read up more or less in these posts, they take apart the whole situation very clearly.
I started with this post - https://www.dansdeals.com/points-travel/milespoints/rare-united-polaris-business-class-saver-award-upgrade-space-nonstop-north-america-tel-aviv-3/
And then slowly read through all links he mentioned to understand what he means.
This link is also very good and full of information - https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/earn-60000-miles-united-explorer-card-take-advantage-uniteds-generous-awards/
What you have is not what he's looking for
How did I miss this post? Heck, for 10k I'll tell ya.
What you gave me is not what he's looking forFTFY :)
Uh, noCan you elaborate please.
Dosent help for J.It does help for JN
Can you elaborate please. It does help for JNJN is still 180K.
JN is still 180K.
Interesting, dan specificaly mentiones that with the united card you access to the expended saver awards space and you can then book a ticket in business class (JN) for 75,000 miles. See here (https://www.dansdeals.com/airfare-deals/israel-flights/rare-united-polaris-business-class-saver-award-upgrade-space-nonstop-north-america-tel-aviv-3/) right before the comments section. As I mentioned earlier, Dan is talking about Economy. XN not JN.
As I mentioned earlier, Dan is talking about Economy. XN not JN.Seems like he is talking also about JN, see attached screenshot.
Seems like he is talking also about JN, see attached screenshot. He is not.
He is not.Can you please elaborate a little bit more? all I'm trying to do is understand whats going on. (sorry I'm not willing though to pay 10k ;))
Can you please elaborate a little bit more? all I'm trying to do is understand whats going on. (sorry I'm not willing though to pay 10k ;))Having the United Explorer card gives you access to XN which is expanded Economy awards at the saver level price, it also gives you access to JN which is last seat availability in Business class but not at the saver level price, which in this case it would be 180k.
Thanks

Thanks.Seems like all your questions are answered in the screenshot you posted.
So just to confirm that I understood correctly. There is four levels of award space
1. Standard award bucket (HN,ZN) - every mile member.
2. Expanded standard award bucket (JN,YN) - card holders and Plat/1K/GS elites.
3. Saver award bucket (I,X) - every mile member .
4. Expanded saver award bucket (IN,XN) - Plat/1K/GS elites but not card holders.
If so what's the difference between standard award and saver award they both seem to be open to all miles members.
Also whats between the expanded saver vs regular saver.
Last, it seems that card members do get access to Expanded saver award bucket as they have access to XN.
Thanks
P.S. you can see the attached screenshot from where I'm taking these four award levels.
Seems like all your questions are answered in the screenshot you posted.Hmmph. I don't know where my mind was when I wrote that post :-[, thanks for your help.
| | Standard | | | Expanded standard | | | Saver | | | Expanded saver | |
Coach | | | HN = Everyone | | | YN = Elite / Card members | | | X = Everyone | | | XN = Elite / Card members |
Business | | | ZN = Everyone | | | JN = Elite / Card members | | | I = | | | IN = |
I created a simple table for the Noobs our there (like me) that are trying to grasp the united award classes and who has access to those classes.Uh I'm pretty sure Dan already did this. And he had all the info.
| Standard | Expanded standard | Saver | Expanded saver Coach | HN = Everyone | YN = Elite / Card members | X = Everyone | XN = Elite / Card members Business | ZN = Everyone | JN = Elite / Card members | I = | IN =

This. Lots of space on FB is phantom, so it's hard to know who's issue it is until you try to book. Thanks chatted with them, the agent can see the Delta flights for e.g on 8-2 Friday, I just chose the date the OP mentioned, she said an 11.06 pm JFK-TLV is available, I asked her why I cant see this availability when I search, she said not all partner flights show.
Is TAP offering real J LIS/TLV?They keep posting the seat map of thr new plane but as far as I can tell it has not flown to TLV yet. It has generally been flying OPO-EWR. The problem is it's basically impossible to tell when it will start flying to TLV because they show the seat map on both routes at the same time.

Cleared automatically?Yes. Actually, right after I accepted the schedule change. It changed by 5 minutes or so when they changed the afternoon flight to the 777-300er from the 787-10.
plenty of ua j to tlv available, i guess thats not rare under current circumstances, however delta nonstop j to tlv bookable with partners i think has become a true unicorn, i doubt there is a single seat available for the whole year ! has anyone seen any recently ?Become?
i once posted it available a while back commenting its a unicorn and the feedback from some comments were that not quite that category, and you used to be able find a few scattered dates now i think its down to zero using virgins monthly search calendar toggled to nonstop and upper class is the fastest way [i know] to check
I dont recall ever seeing DL J to TLVI booked it for us and my in-laws 11 years ago for my BILs wedding :D
