Total meltdown for Japan.
Fantastic game. Yeah, you can call it a meltdown, but Belgium are much, much better, and over 90 minutes that often does through. Their mistake was not doing what do many in this tournament did (looking at you Russia) - packing it in to bog down the game. It's what allowed them to show their goals, and it's what opened them up to the comeback. Bottom line, I'd much rather see an underdog team do this and go out in a thrilling game than be forced to watch the crap that a lot of these underdogs are restoring to to stay alive.

Hey. You don't really expect me to know that much about sports. All I know was whatever was posted on a nostalgia whatsapp group of some friends. And not even all of that. I skipped most of the soccer posts.

+1. It probably won't stay 0-0, but I can handle a scoreless game if the action is like this.

What's great about this game is that there's no clear favorite like so many of the other games, where one team thinks the only way they stay in the game is by slowing it down. Neither really has an incentive to be super cautious.

Is this a joke? They've looked pretty underwhelming. To recap, the couldn't beat Denmark, Russia, or England in RT since the knockout round began. Two of those needed shootouts. Meanwhile, France has mowed through Argentina, Uruguay and Belgium, all in RT without looking too pressed doing it. Anything can happen, but it would be a huge shock if they beat France.

Well it is France vs Croatia, as you said anything can happen. Croatia are the underdogs in the final, just as they were from game one, if they win it'll be one of the greatest events in football-soccer-history. A country with a population of around 4 million, a great achievement so far.

I cannot understand how someone that complains about a weak NBA league, can enjoy a soccer game.

These guys will literally put on a show of how hurt they are and as soon as they see refs walk away they jump up and run like nothing happened. If I waned to watch acting I'd go to the theater or watch wwe, I don't understand how that can play such a pivotal role. I watched maybe 2 min of soccer this world cup and I saw this happen 3 times in those 2 minutes.

I guess you missed the USA vs Brazil WC game. Eye wasn't gouged but split wide open.
They were metal cleats. Look at their socks (ankles). That isn't red paint they put on them.

Which makes the fake acting so much worse, feels like players have no respect for the game, when they fake injuries every time they trip. Being a pansy is one thing, faking an injury and acting is a whole different ball game.

Just try to imagine this happening in an American sport.
game 7 warriors are up by 2 with a minute left. Oh look curry is hurt he's going to roll around on the floor for 45 seconds but don't worry we're going to add 15 seconds now Green's going to roll around on the floor for 10 of those extra 15 seconds, oh and he's going to throw the ball away from the Cavs when it's their ball (happened on the England Croatia game) oh sorry time ran out....

Does not invalidate a great game. It is part of the game. Just like flops and taking five steps is part of the NBA game. I never hear in football "If the ref gave us 10 more seconds we would have won".

the flopping in soccer is almost strategy

one of the tie breakers they use is which team has less yellow and red cards so it affects the outcomes more than flopping in the NBA

Then it is a bad strategy. We would have a lot more yellow cards without the flopping.

MLS doesn't have to be popular for soccer to be popular. You can already watch all Premier League games, why would you need to bother with MLS? Even with America not playing, the World Cup was a conversation point for average Americans. If you haven't noticed a huge uptick in soccer interest, you're blind. Soccer interest will almost certainly translate to increased interest in MLS (some cities, like Seattle, already have huge fanbases with sellouts every game). I'm not saying it will be anywhere close to being in the realm of the big 4 in 5 years or any amount of years. But soccer is here even if MLS isn't.

I agree that this was over the top, and thats why i singled her out (and the whole beginning of her celebration was with herself)
My only point was, that she has a history of it being everything about her
Case in point, the anthem stuff and her LGBQ outspokenness etc etc.
Alex Morgan was practically apologetic on goals 4 and 5
Carli's at 13... she needed that real bad, just to show she's still got it and belongs on the roster
