Cathay pacific, avainca, BA, iberia.

Also most of El al's customers come from the US and we all know how much Jews like points....so know not make a product that all the Jews will have and still be able to rake in millions off the points/ processing fees?

If they can bring back the Sefer Torah on the flights departing NYC Sunday & Wednesday and Erev Rosh Chodesh nights (and Chanuka Chol Hamoed etc)

Designate an area and time for prayers, as not to cause heartache to those not interested, and to allow people in Business First to participate, knowing the timing.

Understand our needs re carriages and car seats and bassinets, and explain those policies clearly so that there is no bad feelings.

They do, but its's always a spontaneous thing organized, which sometimes clashes with service, and annoys crew and gets moved around, ie its tolerated, but not organized.

As 85% of these flights WILL have/need a minyan, they may as well set it up officially.

More details please.

These flights can have up to 35 carriages at gate check in (KH, from multiple firsthand experiences), so the should dedicate a lane at check in for all passengers with carriages, so that customers don't get annoyed, and that not every family gets up the minute Business boarding begins, adding to the chaos in the gate area.

Many people bring car seats for lap children, which is a huge chilul hashem as it leads to issues, ElAl should not allow a car seat past boarding unless they see a seat on the ticket for the infant.

That's meaningless.

Would you take a meal produced with the best and most reliable Kashrus supervision, that was handed to you in a treif restaurant without a double seal?

There are significant steps in between "food" and "meal" (served).

I would ask them if the Hashgocha is reliable on the standard meals
The OU certifies it and says that it's not ideal.

Well, the OU doesn't certify the meals being served, they might certify the food prior to it being loaded on the aircraft and their certification might even stop at an earlier stage.

All of that being said, the question to which you responded didn't make much sense to begin with. Who exactly would one ask if "the Hashgocha is reliable on the standard meals"? ::) ELAL Management? The one's that land yidden in ATH on Shabbos to save money over landing them earlier in a more reasonable place?  ::) ::) ::)

For whatever itís worth, though I do try avoiding El Al, I often find myself flying them in the end. They do have the best schedule for a frum person from NY, including the only option early enough which allows me to daven Shacharis with a minyan when I arrive. Yes, I took Delta last week and it kicked the El Al experience in every way, but I usually donít end up going with them.

But, the Matmid thing isnít pathetic. Iíd love to earn points that are actually useful. Unless youíre always going to Israel and have use for elite benefits, flying El Al isnít much more than a glorified bus ride.

1) Why are you considering cutting commissions for TAs? (Elal recently sent out an email to the Israeli agents that by next year they will sort of stop paying commission) Do you understand that the only reason TAs push elal these days is because the nice commission? You will lose a ton of business changing from the commission model.

2. Why the heck did you stop allowing to wait list J class? It doesn't force agents to book Z. All it does is help TAs play around with the J classes and save it for their customers since they don't have to be afraid about people with higher status wait listed.

Now to the consumer side.

1. Regarding fees. Which airline charges their top tier elites close in fees on award bookings? LY charges top platinums $50 to book awards 24 hours before the flight.
Can you geg rid of the $10 cancelation fee on awards for PLs? Makes you look childish..  Why do PLs have to pay $25 when doing award booking on phone? Which of your competitors does this?

2. People have spoken about the website already but specifically, travel agent bookings do not have option to select a seat on the website.   :o

3. Why do you overbook business class? Most airlines overbook economy, however no one "officially" overbooks business. I mean, in high travel season literally e every flight ends up being overbooked. And don't give me the F class excuse crap. Because bottom line it doesn't work. For years you've had problems in the airport.

@Dan i have one question for you though, why waste your time with these idiots. They know exactly their problems and have absolutely no interest in fixing it. They will take you for a ride but that's about it. Take this whole meeting with a grain of salt.

Wow it seems you had a miserable experience with them.
I always thought Israel was known for their technological brains, seems here with El-Al just the opposite, what a shame.

why is it so darn hot on the planes, especially before takeoff?

why do they serve the drinks 20 minutes before the meal is served, so there is no drink left when you eat?

why cant give out water in beginning of flight like other airlines?
I would assume they're following the רמב"ם's diet which requires 20 minute waiting period after drinking fluids before eating.

Their checkin - I donít remember it being so terrible coming from NYC (prob because Iím always late), but checkin at tlv for their midnight flights is horrendous. They have everybody from both flights waiting together on the same line & every single time Iíve come 2 hours or more b4 my flight Iíve had to wait forever on that line, by the time I finish checkin boarding is usually about to start. Every single time Iíve flown from tlv itís been like this besides for when I show up late for checkin, then itís a breeze.

Basically the majority of answers (especially) on DDMS were that they need to fix their "attitude" towards customers. Just sounds like a bunch of kvetchy leftists using nice terms like "attitude" or "customer service" when they can't point out anything specific that bothers them about the airline. I'm not a major fan of the airline, but I just don't get all this hatred.
My wife flew both El Al and Delta recently and she actually pointed out that was impressed by a certain level of class that the LY "Israeli" FAs had, while the DL "American" FAs were much less polished, and some were quite rude too.
I get disgusted by these comments that are just generalizing, without enough intelligence to even point out a single issue (I have quite a few issues with them, but at least I know what they are and I don't just call them "attitude")
Like Shachar tells Fuld in the above video, "for every horror story you know, there are 10 amazing positive stories". Same in all airlines. People don't generally go online and share their positive experiences at the end of every flight. When someone has a bad flight they make sure everyone knows about it. (I was once comparing Y class seat comfort between multiple airlines on SeatGuru, and surprised to see that every airline I checked had the exact same complaints despite differences in pitch and width)
With that said:
- I believe joining an alliance (if it's at all possible) would be a very nice move.
- They promised they wouldn't raise prices with the Dreamliner orders, but prices in the past year (at least to/from the US) have been at least 5-10% higher than the previous year.
- The website has some bugs, like not being able to book seats when booked via various OTA's (like Chase).
- Way to much flying (in economy) required to reach elite status in comparison to other airlines.
- They recently started offering CS via SMS (text) which is a great thing. Perhaps they can upgrade to WhatsApp Business?
- Would be nice if they allowed booking awards within 24 hours online, so that it's not necessary to pay $65 for booking on the phone.
- Would be nice to see them add the possiblity to change/cancel bookings online like UA and DL now have.
- Blue rows in the back on NYC routes would be very nice (pink isn't really necessary). It's basically Bachurim and yungeleit flying themselves who have the issues.
(probably some more. can't think of them at the moment)

Not a ďproblemĒ imo its customers wanting cheaper fares ,ulcc that pushes airlines to stuff smaller seats.
Not that they wouldnít try doing it anyway but if customers would be willing to pay more, airlines wouldnít get away so easily putting 10 seats in a row

Wrong.

If they only do blue rows (or more accurately, seat blocks), then it becomes a "charedi" issue. Designating both types, makes it a choice available to customers. Question is what happens if you have someone who identifies one way and is legally something else in one of those rows....

One important thing they didn't do away with is the excessive YQ.

And from what I read between the lines, it seems like award availability is going to go south, with at least three tiers. Super Saver - which will probably be scarce and available to book through QF. Saver, which will only be available through Matmid, and Standard - well, we know what those things look like. With Standard they are going to make 50% of inventory available, but my guess is that it's a very bad deal for the consumer, and can probably do better with cash or elsewhere.

Notably, on the HKG and BKK route they are actually dropping some award prices, probably feeling the heat of competition.

Fool me twice, shame on me.

Well, I guess you could make a DDMS post out of this. How as much as things "change" with EL AL, and even when they supposedly reach out to you, they don't seem to really value the flying public. Nothing in their attitude seems to change.

Yes, they do have some serious legacy issues, and those aren't easy to deal with. But even with a new CEO, and a new CTO, any changes seem to just be at the margins. Wifi is definitely welcome, as is probably direct aisle access lie-flat business class, and a PE product, but go back to the Wiki and the various posts on this thread and elsewhere, and it seems like the most important change - the attitude, hasn't happened.

Ironically, if you wrote a post now detailing their behavior surrounding these 2 interviews without even divulging the contents, they'd probably come off worse than if they let you publish.

And you most definitely should! Let them feel the PR heat.

To what end? People already kvetch about me trashing LY.
You could take the high road, explain to people that you're really hoping to help LY and give them positive PR as well as communicate concerns you hear from your readership. And that despite past experience, you took the time to talk to them even on the most unusual terms of having to get their approval to publish, yet LY hasn't even bothered to reach out to you after the interview.

Maybe the "kvetchers" will soften their kvetch. Maybe LY will finally feel the PR mess that they are and take steps to address at least that.

Lol. That sounds like a political promise.

To what end? People already kvetch about me trashing LY.
Agreed. No point in another EL AL post

I agree that you have enough posts bashing elal. But as you see they value your opinion/scared of your posts.  So even if it will seem like another rant, you might actually get them to respond this time

All for what purpose? To bully them into letting me publish their interview?
Meh.

FTR, my comment was not saying you should write a post, but speaking about *if* you would write the post. Your site, your posts.

Another irony is that if any other airline, bank, hotel or company had treated you this way, there is no way you wouldn't write about it. So much for the anti-El Al bias.
