Title: Norwegian Air to Israel
Post by: curly on October 31, 2018, 11:47:09 AM
I see tickets on Norwegian from EWR- TLV for $650 round trip. Can anyone share their experience flying with a family? How does it compare to Aeroflot?

I would choose Norwegian over Aeroflot. If you book through a TA, you get 2 bags, Kosher meals and seat assignments (even in the first row/exit seats!)

Depends what you need out of customer service but probably better than SU.

Whats SU?
I'm saying do they generally run on time, kid friendly, do they have individual screens and bassinets?

I don't know the statistics on their on time performance. They do have individual screens and bassinets on the 787.

why is that? what laws govern the SU?  Norwegian will be under the EU guidelines

Probably because Norwegian won't rebook you, while Aeroflot partners with Delta/Air France/KLM.

Sometimes. Not all tickets are created equal. Watch out and make sure you know what your booking before you book.

Some Norwegian fares come with hardly anything. Also the suitcase weight can be only 20 Kilo which is 44 pounds. They are also known to weigh you carry on and heard stories of people having big problems when Norwegian only decided to weigh their carry on the  second leg of the trip.

i dont need that much luggage per person , since we will be traveling with a number of travelers, as long as i know in advance. i am talking abt the cheapest fare online. what do they allow for hand luggage? and what advantage do i have using a travel agent?

They will NOT rebook you on another airline in case of a delay. I had a family who flew a couple of weeks ago from TLV to EWR via BCN. The flight from TLV was delayed an hour (in advance of the flight). They would not rebook them in TLV on another airline (even though it was quite clear that they'll miss their connection), and when they did miss the connection, they just rebooked them on the exact same Norwegian flight the following day leaving them in BCN for over 24 hrs.
I believe Aeroflot is somewhat better, though they don't linger far behind....

Its a mazal, I guess. Did they compensate them for their time there?
How long do you think is an ideal stopover time?

They would at least be subject to EU law - 600 EUR, maybe even Israeli compensation - 3080 ILS

But with a legacy carrier, even if the flight is delayed by "mazal", they would happily rebook on another carrier. You would not be left stranded in a foreign country for 24 hrs.

Another newbie question, I see 2 adult tickets are available at a certain fare, but when I add the third the price jumps up. Is it a problem to book one person on a separate reservation? A 13 yr old child?

Are they operating the 787 to TLV? Last time we needed a bassinet on the 787 they only have three seats (one in Premium) that allow a bassinet. So once those seats are assigned to someone (even if that someone isn't using a bassinet) they won't have any available on that flight.

1) Is this still true?
2) If I book by phone through Chase Ultimate Rewards (since Norwegian unavailable on the portal), will it be considered a Travel Agent GDS booking and qualify for the 2 bags?

Whatís the big deal? The passengers all transferred to a different plane, which made it out of Iran.

I first flew Norwegian OSL-ARN seven years ago before they expanded internationally, it was a good experience. Recently took a similar flight within Norway, Oslo to Bergen. Never tried the long haul flights though, will be flying OSL-TLV in the summer.

What does a TA have to do with this? Doesn't it depend whether you choose Lowfare, LowFare+ or Flex?
