Did you test for antibodies? POLL
Relative of mine, tested positive for Covid-19 on March 22. Did the Lakewood Bikur Cholim Mayo Clinic blood test on April 19 and was negative for antibodies.

Had symptoms, and wife tested positive for Covid-19 as well.
Heard (first hand) of another Covid-19 test positive (with symptoms), with negative antibody test (antibody test administered 7 weeks later).

S209 another DP for you.

Re: Do you know someone who has had Coronavirus after Pesach?
Unnecesaary positives will only make it harder to discern a rise in new cases. At this point if they limit tests to people who actively have symptoms or have been exposed to people with symptoms we'll find the new cases. Because we have the capacity, we can immediately increase testing as soon as there is reason to.

Disclaimer: This is my own theory, feel free to disagree.
Isn't the whole point to catch asymptomatic cases before they start spreading it, since the most infectious time is prior to onset of symptoms?

Re: Corona virus and your shul
heard from Monsey that there hasn't been a covid related call in 3 weeks, and Lakewood hasn't had either
1. Ask local doctors about their caseloads before drawing conclusions from Hatzolah calls. People are more cognizant of Covid-19 now and will seek medical treatment before they get to a state of needing Hatzolah (as opposed to Purim-Pesach).

2. Lakewood Hatzolah is still getting respiratory distress calls (e.g. 5 on Thursday), as well as some possible Code 19 calls.

Per their website Mayo is using a test without even an EUA and claimed specifity of around 85%
Wow, I totally had the opposite assumption.

what are your thoughts on this?

If you're spending that on a charcoal smoker, I'd highly recommend the Weber Smokey Mountain.

Re: Did you test for antibodies? POLL
It would make sense that we’d start seeing more negatives now because at first it was only people testing with the assumption that they had the virus. Now people like my brother who don’t think they’ve had it are testing because it’s a requirement for reentering Yeshiva and many shuls.
In other words, this testing cohort is more representative of the general population?

Re: yeshivas that are open
@avromie7

Why do you keep on saying that young people "shouldn't live in fear"?

Does taking precautions to not be exposed mean living in fear? I don't see why you have to be anxious about it. Just don't do foolhardy things. Being exposed to a novel virus is a foolhardy thing to do.

Many people seem to conflate caution with fear. That people who are being cautious and safe/conservative are somehow living in abject terror.

I wonder if the 2 sides of this ongoing divide are actually just 2 sides of the personality spectrum. Cautious on one side, and the risk taking on the other.

Re: yeshivas that are open This is going to be quite ironic, that the small number of families which aren't going to be attending school are the ones following mainstream medical advice. The anti-vaxxer reversal.

Re: Do you know someone who has had Coronavirus after Pesach?
No need to jump the gun. Just a data point and not a very specific or detailed one. Take it in context at this point. I put it out there because we ought to have as much info as possible, no matter which way the info points.

This a good datapoint for showing that Hatzolah calls are not the be all, end all.

Re: Was the Lakewood PD wrong for releasing a statement on potential protests? Harold Hershkowitz said the police visited him to warn him to remove his valuables and any cash. He added that he heard some "rabble rousers" are planning to join the peaceful protest and make it not peaceful.
