That's the whole point!  The weirder it is, the more you pay attention and the more you will remember it!
Plus, the more you talk about "Delta...Delta...Delta."  Great marketing.
not if you can't even finish watching it

Family of 5, 3 day 2 night trip within driving distance of NYC for under $200! I am going to try my hand at a mini trip report. We were looking for a vacation within driving distance from NYC and that wouldn't break the bank for 3 day 2 night vacation. Much to my own surprise we needed actually fuguring out and doing a great trip that met that criteria. So here goes:
Besides needing to be within driving distance of NYC it needed to be appropriate for young family with 5 and 3 year old boy and a 12 month old baby.
I didn't really have a starting point until someone my wife works with told her about Edaville USA. Since we saw a total of 0 frum jews there on a major vacation weekend I am assuming the word has not gotten out about this place yet. It was an old small amusement park that they have rebranded into a Thomas (the train) themed park. Since my boys love Thomas we decided to try to center the trip around that especially bc we assumed my 5 year old will grown out of it soon.
Edaville USA is located in Carver, MA. Looking at a map I saw that it was pretty close to a number of options to base around. I could choose from Boston providence and newport. I nixed Boston right away because as it is Carver was really farther then I wanted to drive for such a short trip and I liked the idea of cutting some time out of the drive back by basing out of Rhode Island. A look on ddf and TripAdvisor pretty much ruled out Newport for a trip with my kids so I started looking at providence.
I had 2 free marriot nights from the Marriott CC (1 extended from last year and  from this year). I was nervous that I would have availability issues labor day weekend but that was not an issue at all. I found good reviews for the residence Inn providence-coventry and they had availability. I called them and there 2 bedroom suites were wide open so I had a very good chance of getting the upgrade but I would have to wait until the day of to know for sure.  I was taking some what of a risk bc if I didn't get the upgrade it wasn't going to be much of a vacation.... but I took the gamble.
Next I looked for things to do there.  I found on trip advisor good reviews for the providence children's museum and realized I may have free access with my LI. Children's museum membership a drop of research and confirmed free day 2! ( I did have to pay $9 for one kids bec they only give 3 passes through the reciprocity program... so basically free). While researched I discovered that there are a number of good beaches near providence and i figured our 3rd day was Tuesday after Labor day when all public schools start the beaches will be empty. So our plan was fitting into place perfectly. Sunday edaville usa (only day they were opened) Monday the museum and Tuesday beach.
In terms of food it seemed that there was no reliable kosher places and we had a full kitchen so we just brought a large cooler filled with cheese yogurt pasta tuna etc... and so we made do with that.
More to follow...

That's because they decide to.  No one is forcing a male-to-female transgender person to dress as a female.  Completely flawed argument that you seem to think is some huge fallacy.
I did not want to get involved in this discussion and I had a momentary slip. To explain myself would just drag me in even more so I will respectfully bow out

Right now there isn't much better. Spoken to many mortgage brokers, and as of now there isn't much of a difference. For 1/8 lower it ain't worth it.
cmiiw but one can't apply for 2 mortgages on the same property at the same time.
You can run applications with multiple places will only cost you the appraisal fee. Read up thread where I and others highly recommend doing it

I apologize in advance but articles like these are so stupid. I am not a trump supporter and what he did with the security Council does raise eyebrows but this idea that Bannon is a puppeteer who evily banished the military and intelligence officials from security decisions is just being bombastic. Let's try to be intellectually honest and even keeled and at least ask ourselves what might possibly be a rational reason they think this restructuring is a good idea

You're so off on this, my man. Seems like you're on the bandwagon.
+1 I'm with freddie on this one. Maybe it's just that you feel the need to fight what you perceive is extreme views on this forum that you have gone to the old other extreme but you have started to sound like moshe123 before the election.  This is one of the last things I would get so hung up. Do you really think she thought there was a massacre? She used the wrong word while trying to convey a point and you go all over the word instead of the point.
In general you have been so all over trump you have become like the media you just incite people to defend him more from the perceived injustice of the media siding against him.

Re: Interesting Articles...
They were long time customers. So they had no problem selling to gays but when they wanted to get married they said no.
Huh? I don't see any problem with that argument. That's a classic misperception of people who are against gay marriage. As an orthodox jew I believe God doesn't want us to engage in homesexual activity but I don't judge nor treat the gay PERSON any less than a straight person. I certainly wouldn't refuse to let him buy flowers. However to participate in (and evermore so beautify)  a CELEBRATION  of something that I believe God doesn't want done is something I am not able to do.
Is that such a hard distinction to hear?
(Sorry for the caps don't know how to bold or italicize in tapa)

If you can't get it, sorry for you, but I explained already.
A kid needs a mother and father figure. They are incapable of providing that. That is besides the other mental issues that gays commonly have. When going for adoption we shouldn't place kids in suboptimal environments.

As a rule of thumb, if you don't understand something 'science-y', check Youtube. There are a ton of fantastic science-focused channels, with all sorts of approaches to educating - you're bound to find something suitable.

Just to name a few I'm fond of: Vsauce, Veritasium, Smarter Every day, Minute Earth/Physics, Kurzgesagt, Sci Show.

Re: Silent Killer
I don't know how to remove my signature only for this thread.

My point is this:

The 12 step program is a Christian program, and the meetings are typically in a church.  I do concede that the steps themselves reference G-d rather than Jesus or Christ. I do not know whether the concepts are Jewish (e.g. asking G-d to remove your imperfections), but are probably not themselves avoda zara.

In that context, I think I would ask a shaila.  That's why I queried if there are any published teshuvos on the topic.
I've been to AA meetings for course requirements  (yeah yeah u can skip the jokes already been made) in both church Meeting rooms and in regular business meetings.
I consulted with a rebbe that I believe you are machsiv and if I recall it correctly it was a complete non issue to him. also don't think I heard the word God even once sometimes the references "a higher power whatever you perceive that as"

Re: Colorado Master Thread
I can't host but can offer a meal Shabbos day if they are on the east side. Pm me. Staybridge is about 1.5 miles from where I live but the Shul is about half the distance. There are plenty of people that regularly host travelers but I imagine most if not all are taken at this point as after Tisha B'av but before Elul is when we see the most travelers.

That being said IMHO what you said to Denverite was inappropriate. When Brooklyn packs up and goes to the Catskills they don't start ripping on Monticello's hospitality for having an unwelcoming feel. To Denverite's point your brother and friend's could've gotten firm yes's more than 2 days in advance. This isn't a case of them being stranded, is it? I'd bet they booked their hotel's with more advance notice. Why should Shabbos be any different?
Thanks! I will check with him.  I didn't mean to create a fight. but as someone who also lives in a very small community I know what it's like to constantly host people however when I get a last minute request (which actually just happened 2 weeks ago when someone reached out thursdsy night) my response would be more like. I am really sorry it doesn't work for us or others this week we would've lived to have you please don't hesitate to ask again.  that gives a feel of a community that is warm and welcoming.  when  the response makes assumptions about what the person did or didn't do with their plans and tells them to take a hike that doesn't give a warm welcoming feel.

Re: Massacre in Las Vegas.
The IS claim is of quite some interest.

This is either a major cover up by the government and/or media, or a desperate publicity stunt by IS.

They very rarely try to claim attacks that they don't know are theirs, and never have, before this, been so adamant in claiming responsibility even after their initial claim was rejected.
actually I read in number of places that they claim it's theirs all the time.
anyway why doesn't everyone just relax and wait for information instead of jumping to far fetched conclusions

Re: Re: Interesting Articles...
That's going to happen either way. People are going to use the issue to bash the community no matter what you say. And do you HONESTLY think trying to convince them the problem is smaller than they think is going to help?   If anything it makes it come across that your energy is all going into defending your community where if you really want to help your community you would work on helping the issue.

And just as a side note, if those bashing the community because of issues like this heard you say "you're right, we have an issue, let's work on fixing this" they may be a whole lot less inclined to focus on the bashing and start working together to start creating solutions.

When you defend a community that clearly has this major issue, it doesn't look to others that you're listening to the problems and wanting to be part of the solution.
+100 that's excuse making "other people are bashing us so we need to defend ourselves instead of helping" do u not realize how lame that sounds? maybe if there were people and organizations from within helping these kids there would be less focus and highlighting of organizations like footsteps.
I know people who are trying to work with and within the chassidic community and have no desire to bash them in anyway and they say it's really bad...
