Re: Welcome to the Forum
I wanna be a mod too...

Heh, I was one of the admin's of a mobile developers forum for a while, and all the people who were uber-helpful and knowledgeable became moderators. At one point we scared off most of the newbies, and everyone who was posting was a moderator.  Silly, really.

Its like that line from the Incredibles:
"when everyone is Super, no one is."

Anyway, I just want to say I thought the choice of forum sections was odd- Its as if DansDeals is only about travel and/or Credit Cards.
Yes, the CC and travel information is formidable, and possibly what sets it apart from other deal sites, but its not why I come to in the first place.
You guys should have sections for technology talks, hot deals, products that are worthwhile or to avoid, etc... The way its set up now, all that would end up in "General Discussion", while you have two sections for travel (On the Road and Trip/Destination Reports could arguably be the same thing, ie. both travel, and I would personally group those together, if not make them subforums of a travel parent group).

Just my 2 cents, keep up the good work!

I was JK about the mod thing, I'm too lazy...

Re: Niagara Falls & Toronto Master Thread Thx Moish. I'm sure security will have questions when they see my parachute :)

I wonder what they'll say when I tell them I'm planning on jumping the CN tower...

DDF DO: NYC Edition? We should do an Engadget-style DD meetup in NYC.

What's your favorite (kind of) wine? Based on jj1000's request, I added this thread.

I'll let you share your opinions, then I'll post mine (don't want to influence anyone :P)

Re: Looking for cheap good Laptop deal
The original deal of using the 25% percent coupon is the best u'll get. I just checked and dell lowered the market value of the 15R, so the price would be, if you stack it with the $75 coupon - $292!!!

This is hands down the best price u'll ever get on these specs

Clich here to see the laptop

Saveology isnt selling the coupon anymore, so if you didnt buy it, its too late to get this deal

Great deal, at $292 it's a real steal.

(for the record, @ $292 you're still stuck with $140+ in Dell credit, so you're still ~$400 out of pocket...)

Re: Help Me Find It! - The Search Master Thread
Lamdeinu..... how does one do a site search on google?

Type the keywords into the searchbox, then type "" (or whatever domain/site you want to search). No quotes, and make sure there's no space before or after the colon.

My next app-o-rama... It's been over six months (IIRC) since I've last applied for a CC, I'm having serious withdrawal. While the CC scene has been slower than last year IMHO (one of the reasons I've been less active on DDF, but that I'll leave for another thread/day...), and Chase has been pursuing A/A more aggressively, I feel like I should go for another round of apps. Here's what I'm thinking:

It's been over 4 months since my Amex shutdown, so I'd like to try applying again. I'm thinking of a 2BM, for a regular Plat and MB Plat, and maybe add an SPG. Do you guys think that would be overkill (esp. considering my recent F/R)?

I've got 8 active cards with Chase, and I'd like to go for a few more... Do you guys think I'm pushing it with Chase (i.e. risking A/A) even though I haven't applied with them in over six months ? Should I close some cards? If yes, should I move the CLs to existing cards or not? I'm afraid I'll get denied if I have 8 cards open when applying, even if I offer to close a few. Last time I applied (2BM for 2x50k SW), I had to jump through hoops to get those apps approved (first time I did that same 2BM I got denied), what do y'all think?

I haven't applied for AA cards in a while, so I'm thinking of doing 2-3 Citi AA 50k offers in a 2/3BM, what do you guys think about that?

Throw in a few BofA apps (and maybe a Barclays one too, if I find something worthy), and I think I've got my fix for another few months, what do you guys think?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts, comments, tips, opinions and any other advice you share.

What came in your mail today? As a sister thread to the "what did you get in your email today?" thread, I figured I'd start this one.

I got two interesting letters today:

1. EnergyPlus is offering me 25k SW for switching to them. They're a scam, and it seems they're getting desperate offering 25k.
2. BofA is thanking me for my loyalty (yeah right) and giving me a heads up that my annual fee will be billed on my net month ::) Anyone ever see that from a CC issuer before?
